This is a tough review to do for two reasons. The first is that it’s not one film, but eight. The second is that I am so far out of the target audience I would simple never have watched this or thought about watching this if I weren’t reviewing it. With that in mind, this won’t be my personal view of what this collection is, but a reflection of what it’s trying to be.
Hi-8: Horror Independent Eight is a project given to eight directors. The idea is to create a short movie using absolutely no technology from the post-Internet age, so no HD cameras, digital effects or found footage. The purpose was to try and recreate the feeling of watching an old style shot on video horror flick from the 80’s,...

I’m a longtime fan of horror anthology films. I think it goes back to my love of short fiction, something I still really love to this day, and being able to get a snapshot of a story, a quick, often deliberate, sometimes hectic, slice of the chosen genre. Horror is a genre I’ve had a extended love affair with, and so mixing those two things together is a big plus for me. Released by Wild Eye Releasing, Hi-Death brings five new stories with it, each one different in tone, style and,...

Remember the naughty Conker's Bad Fur Day? Well, its foul-mouthed hero's making a return as a series on Project Spark...
Seeing the name Conker in the headline above will probably have many readers thinking back wistfully to Rare's brilliant, very rude Conker's Bad Fur Day on the N64 - a 3D platformer that didn't sell brilliantly well, but rapidly became a cult classic.
While it's true that the game's boozy star Conker the Squirrel is making a comeback, it's not quite the sequel we've been looking for. Instead, he'll be appearing in Microsoft's create-and-share gaming platform Project Spark.
Created by Project Spark developers Team Dakota, Conker's Big Reunion will take the form of a series of downloadable, episodic adventures, with the action picking up a decade after the original game.
There'll be added authenticity thanks to voice actor Chris Seaver returning as Conker, and the episodes have been made with the blessing of Rare,...

Finally the trailer is here for Nightfall Pictures and Twisted Illusions' new anthology film Hi-8 (which stands for Horror. Independent. 8 Filmmakers), and we we have it here for you dripping with indie horror goodness.
From the Press Release
Hi-8 is produced by Brad Sykes, Josephina Sykes, and Tim Ritter. The directors’ lineup is Tim Ritter (Truth or Dare), Brad Sykes (Camp Blood), Marcus Koch (100 Tears), Ron Bonk (The Vicious Sweet), Donald Farmer (Savage Vengeance), Todd Sheets (Zombie Bloodbath), Chris Seaver (Filthy McNasty), and Tony Masiello (Sov: The True Independents).
Producer Brad Sykes got the idea for the anthology while working on Srs Cinema’s upcoming VHS/DVD release of his feature The Pact, which was shot on the Hi-8 format back in 1995 while Sykes was still a college student. He missed those days of carefree filmmaking and approached Tim Ritter with the idea, who already had the Hi-8 title and concept ready to go.

First up in the quartet of projects is the ’80s-slasher homage Babysitter Massacre, to be written and directed by Faces Of Schlock’s Henrique Couto. Next will be a pair from Low Budget Pictures’ busy Chris Seaver: the musical Phantom Of The Grindhouse and the comedic Paranormal Investigation Agency (P.I.A.). Scheduled to roll next summer is Kill, Granny, Kill! the latest gorefest by Stash and Red River’s Jacob Ennis and co-writer Gregory W. Brock.
“The production series is the newest endeavor in an ongoing campaign to support new and established filmmakers whose output embodies the spirit of ‘80s Sov [shot-on-video] Diy horror films,” says Alternative president/executive producer Michael Raso. “This is my second opportunity to act as executive producer on a Jacob Ennis feature, and Kill, Granny, Kill! will be every bit as visceral and blood-drenched—if not more so—than his hillbilly horror epic Red River.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, a motion picture entitled Sexsquatch has come into existence. Shockingly, no, it is not a porn parody. It is, however, a softcore horror comedy. More importantly, it is a softcore horror comedy entitled Sexsquatch.
This story comes to us via a tip from the diligent Avery G., although I'm not entirely sure we should thank him this time. But since we now live in a world in which a movie called Sexsquatch exists, I felt it my duty to pass this information, a few stills, and the trailer along to you.
Here’s a synopsis of the plot of the motion picture the world will forever know as Sexsquatch:
Writer/director Chris Seaver's Sexsquatch is a romantic tale of summer’s great hope. A group of friends head off for a beach house weekend. Partying, of course, is their number one priority. But there’s so much more to it.

Written by Ross Patterson
Directed by Garrett Brawith
Featuring Barry Bostwick, Ray Wise, Ross Patterson, Lin Shaye, Bruce McGill, Richard Riehle, Kevin Sorbo
The third collaboration between Ross Patterson and Garret Brawith is, if it is humanly possible, even better than their previous genius Pool Boy: Drowning out the Fury.
This is the kind of film that, like The Fp, and everything ever made by Chris Seaver, or Damon Packard, or the fine people at Everything is Terrible!, is its own brand of modern absurdist humor. And it is my favorite kind of story.
I usually get a mildly similar sense of joy out of only the most inane of The Asylum’s releases, but this is a feature-length full-blast of incredibly tasteless, and therefore heroically funny, humor. It also manages to have a cohesive storyline, developed characters, and in the end Franklin Delano Roosevelt still manages to maintain his...

The Fp is a new film that parodies action movie like The Warriors and other trashy trash exploitation flicks from the 70s and 80s (and even 90s).
So, somewhere in a dystopian near future, a relentless gang war ensues. Can the dude win the girl and his honor back? Frazier Park ('The Fp') is ruled by those who win the competitive dance-fight video game "Beat-Beat Revelation." After hometown hero Btro is slain on the dance platform by thug leader L Dubba E, his protégé younger brother Jtro (Jason Trost) goes into isolation, vowing never to duel again. One year later, The Fp is in ruins, and Jtro must find the courage to return and restore order in a ruthless battle for revenge that can only leave one man dancing.

Scary Stud of the Year 2009 Billy Garberina graciously accepts his crown and graces us with an update on his new films, his low-paying career path, and his utter elation at being the sexiest man in horror of the past year. Votes don't lie, folks!
Read about how awesome Billy is. I dare you.
How does it feel to be a Scary Stud of the Year?
It makes me feel 12 times more sexy than being Sexy Stud of the Month!...
On the other hand, it only makes me feel 1/10th as Sexy as being Sexy Stud of The Decade. So, does that make me 12x the stud I was, or merely 1/10th the Stud I could be?
I was watching Pumping Iron for the first time ever during the final vote rallies and gleaned some deep insight from a 28 year old Arnold Gubernator about being a champion. Like Arnold at 28, I feel like I'm coming.

Ryan Nicholson of Plotdigger Films gave Fango the first look at the DVD cover art for his extreme gruefest Hanger (pictured), now set to hit disc November 17 from the new Breaking Glass company on their Vicious Circle genre label. He also informed us of his plans for an official release of his underground Internet flick Torched, and passed on the art for that one as well.
Hanger stars Nathan Dashwood, Dan Ellis and Fangoria Radio’s Debbie Rochon and centers on the revenge for a botched abortion meted out by the grown-up object of that operation; we previously revealed the specs for the DVD here. Torched, previously available only on bootleg or edited discs, is fully restored on Plotdigger’s DVD, which comes out Nov. 24. The bloody saga of a nurse giving fiery payback to those who raped her will be presented in 16x9-enhanced widescreen with Dolby 5.1 Surround and 2.0 stereo soundtracks,...

Am I the only one shocked that The Asylum is not getting in on the Twilight bandwagon with a mockbuster? It seems like a no-brainer; yet, here we sit, mockbuster-less. Someone has to pick up the Asylum's slack, and that's where Tempe Video's Splatter Rampage label and writer-director Chris Seaver come in with their horror parody Taintlight.
"Riding the lofty coattails of the international tween sensation, Taintlight is the tale of Stella, a young girl who falls in love with an ancient, beautifully-behaired bloodsucker named Edgar. They struggle to stay together in the midst of vampire carnage, but a love triangle bubbles up when a Michael Jackson-loving werewolf named Jack comes forward professing his own love for Stella. Meanwhile, a rival group of “real” vampires led by the evil Razor McBleed are on the prowl, looking to put the stake to Edgar so they can feast on Stella and...
