Black Friday earned its name for a reason. It is a dark time when shoppers go into beast mode and forget the warm feelings of family, friendship and gravy they experienced the day before. There's grabbing, snarling, waiting, pushing. None of that sounds fun to us - even if it's for an affordable flat-screen. To help you win the holidays this year and avoid getting into fisticuffs with local shoppers, we created a gift guide overflowing with unique, celebrity-inspired items you won't likely find at 4 a.m. at your town shopping center. What do Sam and Dean do when their best witness in a case is a big, fluffy German Shepherd named The Colonel? Well, in the past, they would have been up a creek. But, these days, they’re armed with all sorts of Men of Letters tricks so, naturally, they found a way to talk to the dog.
In this case, it was Dean who took the hit and drank a hairy potion so he could communicate with animals, and the side effects were nothing short of hilarious.
Among them? He barked at the mail man, had this strange urge...

Oklahoma City — Dale Robertson, an Oklahoma native who became a star of television and movie Westerns during the genre's heyday, died Tuesday. He was 89.
Robertson's niece, Nancy Robertson, said her uncle died at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla, Calif., following a brief illness.
Dale Robertson had bit parts in films including "The Boy with the Green Hair" and the Joan Crawford vehicle "Flamingo Road" before landing more high-profile roles such as Jesse James in "Fighting Man of the Plains."
In the 1950s, he moved into television, starring in series such as "Tales of Wells Fargo" (1957-62), "Iron Horse" (1966) and "Death Valley Days" (1968-70).
Robertson continued to work in TV in the 1970s, and in the 1980s he landed roles in the popular night-time soap operas "Dallas" and "Dynasty."
In 1993, he took what would be his final role, as Zeke in the show "Harts of the West," before retiring from...

Despite being twice Oscar nominated, for Ray in 2004 and then Dreamgirls and 2006, costume designer Sharen Davis has yet to win the big one. She ticks a lot of the Academy’s boxes too: period clothes, stage wear, real life people. However, Ms. Davis is not just about history and glamour, her work is thoughtful, detailed and appropriate to tone.
Django Unchained is the first time Sharen Davis has worked with Quentin Tarantino, as generally he favours using different costume designers depending on the project. Yet on this evidence the director is likely to employ her services again. The date may be 1859, the location America’s deep south, but this is costume not re-enactment. As such the film has a flavour of the Old West (or rather South) with clever character notes and delicate use of colour.

Season 4 of Warehouse 13 premiered last night and it looks like things may have taken a turn. Will they stay that way? Yes and no, according to Eddie McClintock (Pete) and Saul Rubinek (Artie) who took some time during their post-Comic-Con recovery to speak with the media about the new season. They don’t actually spoil, but this interview is best read after seeing that season premiere. Although they obfuscate a bit, their answers do give us an idea of the direction of the new season.
First, about that premiere:
Saul Rubinek: Our show is not called Giant Chasm in the Ground 13, it’s called Warehouse 13, so obviously they’re going to figure out a way to bring the Warehouse back. But we’ve had artifacts. We’ve know that there’s a downside to using them. There are always consequences. And what the writers decided was that...

Summer TV shows usually don’t get me very excited. Some of them are okay, some of them are great, and some of them just annoy me. If I’ve got nothing better to do, there are a few of those summer shows that I end up watching fairly regularly. That’s changed this year, mostly because of A&E and their addition Longmire.
I like westerns and have for a long time. I can remember watching Terence Hill movies when I was just a tiny little starry-eyed sprocket. I used to laugh at how lazy Trinity was and marvel at how adept he was at talking himself out of the trouble that he would get into. They Call Me Trinity was a perennial favorite around my house.

A marketing survey has revealed that Warner Brothers is considering starting their own online movie streaming service that would compete directly with companies like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu Plus.
Warner Brothers is considering launching an online streaming service to compete with providers like Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu Plus. Called Warner Archive Streaming, the service would primarily offer classic movies, cartoons, and TV shows from its extensive catalog, rather than new releases. If successful, the service could catapult Warner Brothers as a major player in the booming online video streaming business.
Details of the plan emerged after Warner recently asked their consumers to participate in an online survey about the service. According to a source with intimate knowledge of the survey, Warner measured interest in a streaming service that would offer many of its older titles not readily available on DVD or Blu-ray. Warner currently has a program called Warner Archive,...

As Hollywood Week drags on for what seems like its fifth week, the "American Idol" hopefuls are put through another group performance. Except they get more time and professional-looking costumes and lighting, so it's not quite as fun as the crazy Group Night.
We kick things off on the bus that hauls the Idols to Las Vegas, for reasons kind of passing understanding. Why move venues? Why not keep them in the same building they've been living in for all of Hollywood Week and just completely Stockholm Syndrome them?
The judges tell the 70 kids left that they are going to sing music from the 1950s1960s, which will definitely prepare them for on the live shows when they get criticized for being current or not knowing who they are as an artist. *eye roll*
Now, I'm criticizing music from this era. I love the 50s/60s. Love. But ... c'mon. We all know how "Idol" is.

The boys of "Supernatural" have more than their fare share of work to do, and with only two series regulars left on the show, it's always a treat when Jensen Ackles or Jared Padalecki can carve out some time to hang with the press.
On a rare day off from shooting last week, Padalecki flew from Vancouver, where the show films, to Los Angeles, to be part of The CW's "Bad-Ass Boys" panel at the Television Critics Association press tour. The next morning, he'd be back on set. "I'll go straight to set from the airport, to shoot, and then come straight back the next day for Gen's baby shower," he said. "It's not ideal, but I can't complain."
With his first child on the way with wife (and former co-star) Genevieve Padalecki, you'd think that the grueling schedule that "Supernatural" requires might be wearing on him. Padalecki tells...

For the past two years, I've been lucky enough to be a small part of a show called Portlandia. The series -- created by the prolifically talented Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein and returning on Friday for a second season -- has been described by many a stinging satire of Hipster culture. While it does parody Hipster earnestness, the show pays loving tribute to communities Like Portland everywhere -- Silver Lake, Austin, Bolder, Williamsburg, Minneapolis, Northampton, Berkeley, etc, etc, etc -- and much has been made about how the show has puts Hipster Culture in the spotlight.
I must say, however, Hipsters are not a new TV phenomenon. With thick glasses, just-so-avant-garde fashion and knowing smirks, Hipsters have had a special place on TV since the beginning of the medium -- even before the birth of the term. For more than half a century, TV Hipsters have had a profound effect on American culture.

If you saw our pictures from the premiere, then you’ll know that director Jon Favreau, stars Daniel Craig, Olivia Wilde and Harrison Ford, and producer/writer Roberto Orci are in London promoting Cowboys & Aliens. We went along to the press conference to get some insight into the film, its production and the cast…
Which side this movie appealed to you more, the cowboy side or the alien side?
Jon Favreau: I grew up watching Science Fiction. I was first exposed to the Western through Science Fiction. I grew up with Star Wars, I’m part of that generation, and (George) Lucas drew a lot of inspiration from Kurosawa, and Kurosawa drew a lot of inspiration from John Ford. Spielberg is a huge John Ford fan as well. As you learn more about directing you appreciate the Western more. It was a great opportunity to do a large scale Western,...

Hollywood needs a hit
Actually, Hollywood needs a bunch of hits.
Actually, Hollywood needs a bunch of big, fat, through-the-roof hits.
And with the summer – and the year – half over, the time to come up with them is running out.
The movie business finished 2010 with the second highest domestic box office on record: $10.2 billion. But this was a misleading, oh, let’s call it a “symptom.” That ten billion and change was like the midpoint in every episode of House where the brilliant diagnostician thinks he’s figured out what’s ailing this week’s guest star, his team begins treatment, and, just as the patient seems to be getting better and the regulars are congratulating each other on the save…the patient throws a conniption fit, thrashing around on the bed and spitting up blood.
Part of that ten billion-plus came from a nearly 20% hike in average tickets prices...

Gunsmoke Legend Arness Dead At 88
Legendary TV cowboy James Arness has died, aged 88.
The actor played Marshall Matt Dillon in beloved TV western series Gunsmoke.
The Minnesota-born World War Two hero was the older brother of actor Peter Graves, who encouraged Arness to seek out a career in showbusiness after he was discharged from the army with leg and foot injuries sustained in battle.
He became an announcer at a Minneapolis radio station and later found fame in Hollywood after following a friend out to Los Angeles to find work in the movies.
He was studying theatre when he was cast as Loretta Young's brother in 1947 film The Farmer's Daughter.
His first wife, actress Virginia Chapman, encouraged him to take his acting more seriously after he received glowing reviews for his performance in his debut and he became a staple villain in films like The Thing from Another World (1951).
Arness' career really took off when he was discovered by John Wayne's agent Charles K. Feldman, and the two TV and movie cowboys became firm friends. Arness starred alongside Wayne, his mentor, in a series of 1950s films and it was the acting legend who recommended his pal for the role of Dillon in Gunsmoke, which became America's longest-running dramatic series.
When the show was cancelled in 1975, Arness joined the cast of TV miniseries How The West Was Won and then turned leading man again in cop drama McClain's Law in the early 1980s.
He retired from showbusiness in the mid-1990s, after appearing in the final Gunsmoke TV movie.
He and his first wife had three kids together - one daughter, Jenny Lee, committed suicide in 1975. Arness divorced Chapman in 1960. He wed Janet Surtrees in 1978.
Among his many accolades, Arness was appointed an honorary United States Marshall in recognition of his unique contribution to "the image and traditions of the U.S. Marshall's Service". He was also inducted into the Hall of Great Western Performers of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in 1981.
He also received the Bronze Star; the Purple Heart, the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge for his army service during World War Two.
Flowers will be placed on the actor's Hollywood Walk of Fame star on Friday afternoon.

Previously, Samuel Colt made the world's largest Devil's Trap (Does Guinness know about this?) , Dean time traveled to 1973, Eve came from Purgatory and created the herpes worm but she was all talk and no action
In Sunrise, Wyoming on March 5, 1861, standard spaghetti western music plays on a dusty deserted street. Two cowboys with spurs that jingle-jangle standoff while nervous townspeople appear through windows. Apparently 3 people live in Sunrise. The cowboys dramatically draw back their coats in tandem and we flash onto a Sheriff badge. Well howdy Sheriff Dean. He looks intensely as a clock nears noon. Yep, it's an old-fashioned showdown. Guns are drawn but we fade to a map of old Wyoming. Bwah! It's a Bonanza-style title card. As flames burn the middle, a flaming yellow "Supernatural" appears, before the discordant sound of the usual glass breaking. They always get the title sequence for "very special" episodes dead right.

This afternoon, screenwriter Roberto Orci hosted a panel with director Jon Favreau about their upcoming alien-Cowboy mash-up Cowboys & Aliens - after which, Orci conducted select press interviews.
In our interview, we managed to mine for a few tidbits and teases about the sequel to 2009′s phenomenally successful reboot Star Trek.
One of the goals that Cowboys & Aliens has set for itself is to take a fantastical, even outlandish circumstance, and then act as if it were really happening — so that the humor and excitement is born out of the genuine human reactions – rather than mocking or “getting cute” with the material. Orci has had a fair amount of experience working within the framework of an expansive storyline, experience that lent itself to ...

Turns out, the 4½-year-old was sporting the Cowboy Bronco rain boots ($39) by däv.
From the adorable stars and cowgirl design to the fun mix of pink and red, these rubber western-style shoes would brighten any rainy day.
Added bonus: There’s a matching umbrella ($24).
Love her boots as much as we do? Check out the full kids collection at Davrain.com.

How strong is Eminem's run at the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart? In addition to locking down the #1 spot for seven out of the nine weeks since its release, Slim Shady will manage to hold his perch next week despite a rush of four new titles debuting in the top five.
The rapper, who was just added to the roster of performers at this year's MTV Video Music Awards, will keep his pole position again thanks to sales of 116,000, which pushed his to-date total above the 2.2 million mark, according to figures provided by Nielsen SoundScan.
He also fended off four contenders, led by R&B singer Kem, whose Intimacy was well behind at #2 (74,000), followed by the latest from sandpaper-voiced singer Ray Lamontagne and his band the Pariah Dogs,...

Activision and the "Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock" team paced themselves publicizing the full set list of more than 90 tracks that's slated to appear in the game, but they've put it all out there as of this week, and before you even make it to Soundgarden's full "Telephantasm" album that's coming bundled in the first shipment of units, you'll have a long list of core game tunes to thrash through including The Hives' "Tick Tick Boom" and multiple Megadeth and Rush numbers.
"We engaged our fans to find out what they really wanted and then hand-picked over 90 tracks that deliver the ultimate rock experience," Guitar Hero vice president of music affairs Tim Riley said in a press release. "From the new guitar controller to the gameplay to the on-disc set list, 'Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock' is truly a return to rock."

The IMDb250. A list of the top 250 films as ranked by the users of the biggest movie Internet site on the web. It is based upon the ratings provided by the users of The Internet Movie Database, which number into the millions. As such, it’s a perfect representation of the opinions of the movie masses, and arguably the most comprehensive ranking system on the Internet.
It’s because of this that we at HeyUGuys (and in this case, we, is myself and Barry) have decided to set ourselves a project. To watch and review all 250 movies on the list! We’ve frozen the list as of 1st January this year. It’s not as simple as it sounds, as we’ll be watching them in one year, 125 each.
Week 20, 100 films down 150 to go. One of my favorite weeks of film viewing was week 20 as I finally got round to...
