Reportedly, within approximately one year after graduating from high school, he went through Toho's "New Face" program and was cast in one of the lead roles in one of Toho's most expensive productions up to that date, "Gojira" (1954) ("Godzilla").

The only actor to appear in four eras of the Godzilla franchise; Showa, Hesei, Milenium and Monsterverse.

Graduated from Toshima High School (1953).

He was best known internationally for appearing in a number of Toho's special effects spectacles.

In 1970, Toho cast him in the role of Rhett Butler in "Scarlett", a Japanese stage musical based on "Gone With the Wind". A serious injury on a film set forced him to bow out.

He became such a familiar face from some of Toho's special effects spectacles that he was listed on some necrologies that appeared in the United States noting his passing in 2022.
