Navajo police lieutenant Joe Leaphorn, played by Zahn McClarnon, is haunted by a bogeyman from his childhood in the third season teaser trailer for AMC’s Dark Winds, which dropped on Friday.

Leaphorn appears badgered by his demons after leaving B.J. Vines (John Diehl) in the desert to freeze to death during the second season of the noir thriller. “When I was a boy, when I went to school, we were taught that the monsters walked the Earth. When you kill a man, he’s bound to you. I’ve accepted it. And I am prepared to go on living with it, every day,” Leaphorn reveals in the third season trailer.

That’s followed by Tribal Police officer Jimmy Chee (Kiowa Gordon) appearing to try, without success, to get a severely wounded Leaphorn on the phone as his partner confronts a monster trying to stalk and kill him.

The multi-hyphenate writer-actor-director-producer is the creator of the "Yellowstone" television franchise, which mostly follow the Dutton family of ranchers over multiple generations, with a few interesting detours. While he had worked as an actor for years (even starring in an episode of "Star Trek: Enterprise") and even earned an Academy Award nomination for his screenplay for the excellent 2016 neo-Western "Hell or High Water," "Yellowstone" is what made Sheridan a household name. He's since gone on to create the hit series "Tulsa King," starring Sylvester Stallone as a mafia capo. Basically everything the man touches is streaming gold, and now another of his works is finding new eyes on home video.

Xolo Maridueña is set to reprise his Blue Beetle role in an animated series from DC Studios.

The Cobra Kai actor recently teased what it means to continue telling the story of Jaime Reyes, the DC Comics superhero he played in the 2023 film.

“There’s only one Blue Beetle,” Maridueña said in an interview with Hablemos de Cine about voicing the Latino superhero in the upcoming animated series.

He continued, “I’m so excited to get to continue the story of Jaime is an honor and I just can’t wait to see where the heck he goes. It’s still so early but I just know it’s about to be the next craziest anime.”

Earlier this year, Deadline broke the news that Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios were working on an animated series based on Blue Beetle. Miguel Paga would serve as director and showrunner, and Cristian Martinez would serve as writer.

Billy Burke, best known for his appearance in the “Twilight” series of movies, is set to play the lead in upcoming horror thriller “Outbreak.”

The zombie genre film, directed by Jeff Wolfe who co-wrote the screenplay with Lance Ochsner, has now been acquired by Premiere Entertainment Group (Peg), a Los Angeles-based production, financing, and sales company, which picked up international rights.

“Outbreak” follows a state park ranger (Burke) in search of his missing teenage son who is confronted with zombie-like people carrying an infectious disease following a virus outbreak. Alyshia Ochse, Taylor Handley, Raoul Max Trujillo, Jessica Frances Dukes, Dani Oliveros, and Kylr Coffman round out the key cast.

WolfePride Productions’ Jennifer Wolfe and Jeff Wolfe produced the film with Kevin Matossian for SilverCrest Entertainment.

Xolo Mariduea in Blue Beetle is one of the best superhero castings in recent memory. His performance has the right balance of humor and heart for the fledging hero Jaime Reyes/Blue Beetle, and Mariduea is perhaps the film's biggest asset. Though Blue Beetle ultimately underperformed at the box office, it fared more favorably with critics and fans, earning a 77% critic score and a 91% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. The movie is a fun ride that does its source material justice, pun unintended.

Blue Beetle follows Jaime after he accidentally bonds with an alien scarab that gives him superpowers. Dios mio! Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios are scuttling toward expanding the reach of Blue Beetle with a new animated series. Miguel Puga has been working on the Blue Beetle animated series since early 2024 and will act as the project’s showrunner and director, with Cristian Martinez writing the scripts.

Angel Manuel Soto and Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, the top talent behind DC’s 2023 film, return for the Blue Beetle animated series as executive producers alongside John Richard. Galen Vaisman, who helped executive produce the movie, oversees the animated adaptation. Casting for the project remains a mystery, though Deadline says DC is in contact with multiple stars from the live-action film. Although deals still need to be implemented, their response was positive.

The Blue Beetle animated series continues the story started in Soto’s live-action film. If audiences connect with the animated series, DC could continue the story in a new live-action sequel.

Exclusive: Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios are looking to continue telling Blue Beetle stories via an animated series currently in development, sources close to production tell Deadline. Miguel Puga (The Casagrandes) has been working on the project since early this year and will serve as the project’s showrunner and director with Cristian Martinez set as writer.

Angel Manuel Soto and Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, director and screenwriter of the 2023 film, respectively, will executive produce alongside John Rikard who served in the same capacity on the film. Galen Vaisman, who was an EP on the film, will oversee the animated TV series for DC Studios.

Blue Beetle may have been a box-office bomb, but it also was the best-reviewed Dceu movie of the last two years. Now that Blue Beetle is available on Digital, fans can check out the movie in the comfort of their homes, but if you’re still on the fence, the 10-minute Blue Beetle opening sequence has been released.

The Blue Beetle opening begins with Victoria Kord (Susan Sarandon) and Carapax (Raoul Max Trujillo) working to unearth the Scarab in Antarctica. Cue the title credits, and we meet Jaime Reyes (Xolo Maridueña) coming home to Palmera City fresh from graduation. Unfortunately, he learns that his family is in danger of losing their home due to financial difficulties.

It seems that “Blue Beetle” has come full circle. The superhero movie was originally slated as an HBO Max (now simply known as Max) streaming release, but then moved to a theatrical run during development. And while it was a box office disappointment — despite getting the top spot during its opening weekend in early August — “Blue Beetle” might find more of an audience when it’s released on digital on September 26.

‘Blue Beetle,’ the latest and second-to-last Dceu movie, was released last August, and as it was anticipated, the movie didn’t really do well at the box office. Blue Beetle is on course to open to $25 million to $27 million in North America after earning $10 million Friday, including $3.3 million in previews. It remains to be seen what impact the looming hurricane has on grosses in Los Angeles, the movie’s top market, and other parts of the area.
