- While at the University of Georgia he won the 1982 Heisman Memorial Trophy Award for Outstanding College Football Player of the United States.
- Holds the all-time professional football record for rushing yards gained in a season, gaining 2,411 yards in 1985 with the USFL's New Jersey Generals.
