Michalis Zeke

Conductor and pianist Mihály Menelaos Zeke was born 1982 in London into a musicians' family and grew up in Budapest and Athens. His father is Hungarian and his mother is the greek pianist Kalliopi Germanou.
At the age of 6, he starred alongside Tania Palaiologou and Stratos Tzortzoglou in Theo Angelopoulos' "Landscape in he Mist".
At the Athens Conservatory he studied piano, violin, horn, music theory and singing, while also having organ lessons with Nicolas Kynaston. Additionally he studied Biology at the Athens University.
In 2004 he moved to Germany to study sacred music and piano at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart, going on to complete a master's degree in choral and orchestral conducting.
In 2006 he received the Kyveli-Horn scholarship for choral conducting and in 2011 the scholarship of the Stuttgart Music University's Friends' Society.
His franco-german chamber choir "Candides" won the 1st Prize at the 2014 International Choral Festival of Neuchâtel.
From 2012 to 2015, Mihály was a member of the German Ministry of Culture's acclaimed "Dirigentenforum" programme for promising young conductors.
