In a surprise move, Disney+/Hulu has just renewed one of their more underrated shows for a second season!

Disney+ and Hulu fans have complained on the tendency to cancel some promising shows after just one season. That includes the well-received Renegade Nell and American Born Chinese. It's the metrics of the business, and compared to, say, Netflix, Disney+ isn't quite as bad at axing shows too soon.

So it's a surprise that, almost a solid year after its first season premiered, Disney+ and Hulu have announced a second season for The Artful Dodger. Given the first year was mostly overlooked and it's been so long since it was completed, a second season coming in 2025 is a bit unexpected.

The Australian drama series The Artful Dodger will return for a second season on Hulu, it was announced today. The second season will be filmed in 2025 at the historic Callan Park in Sydney, Australia.

The eight-episode Season 2 stars Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Jack Dawkins, aka The Artful Dodger, David Thewlis as Fagin, and Maia Mitchell as Lady Belle Fox. They team up with a full ensemble of Australian and New Zealand cast members and several new faces in cameo roles.

Series co-creator James McNamara (The Outrageous True Story of Milky Moor) is leading the writing team, with Kate Mulvany, Dan Knight (Irreverent), and Miranda Tapsell also on board.

Ben Young and Gracie Otto serve as directors with Jeffrey Walker consulting.

Hulu’s The Artful Dodger Renewed for Season 2...

The Artful Dodger has been renewed for Season 2, it was announced on Wednesday morning — almost exactly one year after Season 1 of the Aussie crime dramedy dropped on Disney+ and Hulu.

Described as “an irreverent follow-up to Charles Dickens’ ‘Oliver Twist,'” the series follows Jack Dawkins aka The Artful Dodger (played by The Maze Runner‘s Thomas Brodie-Sangster) and his adult double life in the far-flung penal colony of Port Victory, Australia.

The Artful Dodger‘s stay in Australia will continue for another season.

Disney+ and Hulu have given the hit Australian original a second season, with Thomas Brodie-Sangster returning as the cheeky thieving title character, aka Jack Dawkins, along with series regulars David Thewlis (Fagin) and Maia Mitchell (Lady Belle Fox).

They’ll lead an ensemble cast of Australian and New Zealand cast with “several new faces in exciting cameos.”

Filming will begin in 2025 at Callan Park in Sydney, picking up where the “heart’s desires of Dodger, Fagin and Lady Belle left off, promising more cunning thievery, snappy humor, life-and-death surgeries, and romance with a twist.”

The series is billed as an “an irreverent follow-up to Charles Dickens’ ‘Oliver Twist’, exploring his adult double life in the far-flung penal colony of Port Victory, Australia.” Brodie-Sangster’s Dawkins has turned his fast, pickpocketing fingers into the skilled hands of a surgeon.

The CW has pulled The Wranglers from its Monday-night lineup and put the entire eight-episode season on The CW app and Cwtv.com.

The reality series about the lives of young staff members working at the Circle Bar Dude ranch in Montana debuted to 130,000 total viewers on Sept. 23, and averaged 160K over three airings —representing just 35% retention of Superman & Lois‘ audience.

There’s 104 more days of summer vacation on the docket, as the long-awaited return of “Phineas and Ferb” gets closer to reality. Co-creators and exec producers Dan Povenmire and Jeff “Swampy” Marsh were set to share more information about the upcoming revival during a Thursday panel at New York Comic-Con — including a reveal of who else is returning from the original animated series cast.

The long-awaited adaptation of Hilary Mantel’s novel “The Mirror and the Light” has wrapped.

In the first images from the production, released by the BBC and Masterpiece PBS, Kate Phillips can be seen reprising her role as King Henry VIII’s third wife Jane Seymour, while Mark Rylance returns as the king’s chief advisor Thomas Cromwell and Damien Lewis as the king himself.

Based on the final novel in Mantel’s award-winning “Wolf Hall” trilogy, which follows the rise and fall of Cromwell, the new images come some 18 months after Mantel’s sudden death at the age of 70.

December 2003. Twenty years ago. It was a special time for moviegoers. That’s because it was the first holiday season in which “Love Actually” could actually be part of one’s Christmas time festivities. (Richard Curtis‘ ensemble romantic comedy was still playing to healthy crowds in cinemas.)

In the years before Twitter was euthanized, I’d patiently wait for the onset of the holiday season, and the renewal in my feed of the great “Love Actually” Debate. Every year, the best and brightest of the world — middle management apparatchiks, underemployed magazine writers and hall of fame doomscrollers — would chime in, mostly on the nein side, and make their arguments with eloquence. My favorite was ‘You’re a fucking idiot.’

That one I heard a lot.

“Love Actually” turns 20 this month, and I thought it was time for a thorough revaluation. Was it still a glorious double-steak overstuffed Chipotle burrito of humanity, or would I now see it as they did — a foot-long Subway sandwich with way too many olives bought at a South Dakota gas station?

So I watched the movie again this week. I was struck with an unearned epiphany, the kind that you find in a middlebrow holiday romantic comedy.

Hulu is ready to bring bibliophiles on a grand adventure with The Artful Dodger trailer, starring Thomas Brodie-Sangster as Charles Dickens‘ famous Prince of Thieves, Jack Dawkins! All eight episodes of the action-packed series premiere on Hulu on Wednesday, November 29!

Disney+ has unveiled the official trailer for ‘The Artful Dodger,’ its latest Australian Original series which will premiere all eight episodes on January 17, 2024 in the UK and Ireland.

Set in 1850s Australia, in the lively colony of Port Victory, Jack Dawkins, aka The Artful Dodger, is now a surgeon who still has a penchant for crime. Studiocanal and Universal Pictures are re-releasing Richard Curtis’ holiday classic “Love Actually” worldwide this year in a new 4K restoration.

The Working Title film, whose all-star cast includes Emma Thompson, Hugh Grant, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Keira Knightley, Colin Firth, Bill Nighy and Liam Neeson, will also be released on home video and digitally in the U.S. and France.

First released during the 2003 holiday season, “Love Actually” went on to become a major worldwide hit and, in the 20 years since its release, a beloved modern Christmas classic.

The romantic comedy, which intertwines the stories of eight couples during a frantic month before Christmas in London, also features Laura Linney, Martin Freeman, Andrew Lincoln, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Rodrigo Santoro, Rowan Atkinson, Billy Bob Thornton and the late Alan Rickman.

Studiocanal has restored “Love Actually” in 4K from the 35mm original negative, accessed via Universal Pictures and scanned at Illuminate in Los Angeles.

The Artful Dodger is set to arrive in November, and viewers are getting another look at the eight-episode series ahead of its premiere. Hulu has released a trailer and new key art for the historical series based on the adult life of the popular character from the Oliver Twist novel by Charles Dickens.

John Lennon’s life story was adapted in the 2009 feature Nowhere Boy by filmmaker Sam Taylor Johnson. But there were certain liberties taken with the story that Lennon’s Beatles band-mate Paul McCartney didn’t approve of.

Nowhere Boy covered the adolescent and young adult years of Beatles member John Lennon. Aaron Taylor Johnson, who would later become the filmmaker’s husband, ended up in the lead role as John Lennon. Actor Thomas Brodie-Sangster played a young Paul McCartney in the film.

The real Paul McCartney not only watched the feature, but he was a bit involved in the movie as well. When reviewing the script, he didn’t appreciate the way Lennon’s aunt Mimi was portrayed in the film. Nowhere Boy originally wrote Mimi much harsher than she was in real life,...

The Artful Dodger has a premiere date. The new Hulu series, inspired by the character in Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist novel, will arrive in November, and first-look photos have been released.

One of literature’s most famous pickpockets is on the prowl again.

Thomas Brodie-Sangster (The Queen’s Gambit, Game of Thrones) stars in Hulu’s The Artful Dodger, which will premiere Wednesday, Nov. 29, the streamer announced on Wednesday. The Australian import is billed as “an irreverent follow-up to Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist exploring the adult double life of the famous prince of thieves,” per the official description.

Thomas Brodie-Sangster is engaged to longtime love, Talulah Riley.

Riley, Elon Musk’s ex-wife, announced the news on Twitter — the social media owned by the entrepreneur and recently re-named X — sharing a loved-up picture of her and the “Love Actually” star.

“Very happy to share that after two years of dating, Thomas Brodie Sangster and I are engaged!” the 37-year-old actress wrote.

The announcement was met with lots of well wishes, including from Riley’s ex-husband.

“Congratulations!” Musk replied.

Riley married the Tesla and SpaceX founder twice, from 2010 to 2012, then from 2013 to 2016.

Domhnall Gleeson looks set to earn his first-ever Emmy nomination this year for his killer turn in the FX on Hulu limited series “The Patient,” opposite Steve Carell. The story follows Carell as Alan Strauss, a therapist mourning the death of his wife, who takes on a new patient — Gleeson’s unhinged Sam Fortner. However, Sam turns out to be a serial killer and he kidnaps Alan and holds him prisoner, forcing the therapist to help him overcome his murderous urges.

As Sam, Gleeson lets loose in what is a delicious performance. He clearly has fun in this role and matches Carell beat for beat. He is menacing, unnerving, pitiful, dangerous, and almost sympathetic. It’s a masterful performance from Gleeson and he never goes overboard into hammy territory, which would be easy to do with a role such as this. Critics have all praised Gleeson for his work here,...
