- Tahira Kashyap is an Indian film director, writer, and producer. She completed her schooling at Yadavindra Public School, Mohali, and went on to earn a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Panjab University, Chandigarh. She also holds a Master's degree in Mass Communication from the same university.
Kashyap started her career as a programming head at radio station BIG 92.7 FM and worked as a professor of mass communication at Mithibai College, Mumbai.
She then moved on to become a writer, and her first book, I Promise, was published in 2011. She has since written several books, including Souled Out, Cracking the Code, and The 12 Commandments of Being a Woman.
In 2017, Kashyap made her directorial debut with the short film Toffee (2017). The story revolves around two girls from polar opposite worlds who were bought together by shared feelings of freedom and hopefulness.
Her next project as a director was Zindagi inShort (2020), an anthology of seven stories about seven different people and their ordinary lives. She then went on to direct Sharmajee Ki Beti (2024), starring Saiyami Kher and Divya Dutta.
Kashyap has been open about her battle with breast cancer and has become an advocate for breast cancer awareness. She has shared her journey with cancer in her book The 12 Commandments of Being a Woman and has also given talks on the subject.
