It's been a long time coming for fans to receive exciting news about the highly anticipated followup season, but Netflix gave us an early Christmas gift ahead of Thanksgiving with the update on season 2's filming status.

On Nov. 18, Netflix shared two photos with series stars Nikki Rodriguez, Ashby Gentry, and Noah Lalonde on set announcing that My Life with the Walter Boys season 2 production has completed. The hit Netflix series My Life with the Walter Boys is coming back for a second season, and now the book the show is based on is getting a sequel too, telling the next chapter of Jackie’s story.

The followup book will be out April 15, 2025, author Ali Novak said to Today.com. It will be titled My Return to the Walter Boys.

“I didn’t really need to find inspiration to write the sequel because I’ve always wanted to write it,” she said. “I think it’s a very fitting title because not only is Jackie returning to the Walter boys, but I’m also returning to this world after many, many years.”

How did you first get involved in Deer Camp '86 and why was this a project you wanted to be a part of?

I first got involved with Deer Camp ’86 in a decently unexpected way. In the midst of the pandemic, in September 2020, I got a message from an acting teacher I had worked with in the past. In its first full week on Netflix, the first season tallied more than 12M views, putting it at the top of the English-language TV charts. The season was off to a strong start after debuting on December 7, shooting to No. 2 on the streamer’s Top 10 list with 7.5M views in just a few days of availability.

“It’s been incredible. Phenomenal, actually. I think the audience response has just been so overwhelming and enthusiastic and positive. We couldn’t have hoped for better audience reaction really,” showrunner Melanie Halsall told Deadline.

The 22nd Screamfest Horror Film Festival’s just released its first wave of feature films screening this year. The 2022 festival will take place October 11-20 and will be held at the Tcl Chinese Theater in Hollywood.

Screamfest Horror Film Festival announced today its first-wave lineup of competitive features and shorts for its 22nd edition running October 11th through 20th at the Tcl Chinese Theater.

The Hulu Original film Matriarch will hold its world premiere screening on October 11 – opening night – before premiering on the streamer for Huluween on October 21.

“Run Sweetheart Run from Prime Video and Blumhouse will close Screamfest LA on October 20th. After what begins as dinner with a client, a single mom (Ella Balinska) finds herself hunted by a monstrous and seemingly unstoppable assailant (Pilou Asbæk). Nikki Rodriguez has been cast as the lead in the upcoming drama series “My Life With the Walter Boys,” Netflix has announced.

Based on the popular Wattpad book by Ali Novak, “My Life With the Walter Boys,” the series stars Rodriguez as Jackie Howard, a 15-year old girl who loses her family in a tragic accident. She moves to Colorado to live with her mother’s old friend, who has 10 children of her own. Sarah Rafferty and Marc Blucas will play Jackie’s new guardians, veterinarian Dr. Katherine Walter and her husband rancher husband George. Noah Lalonde, Ashby Gentry, Connor Stanhope, Johnny Link and Corey Fogelmanis play Jackie’s new adoptive brothers. Zoë Soul and Jaylan Evans round out the main cast of the series, while Dean Petriw, Lennix James, Alix West Lefler, Alisha Newton, Ashley Tavares, Moheb Jindran, Ellie O’Brien, Mya Lowe and Gabrielle Jacinto will play recurring roles.

The next installment of NatGeo’s Genius franchise will follow two subjects: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X, and thus be titled Genius: MLK/X.

“The fourth season will explore the formative years, pioneering accomplishments, dueling philosophies and key personal relationships of Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X,” per the official description. “While King advanced racial equality through nonviolent protest, Malcolm X argued forcefully for Black empowerment, identity and self-determination. With their formidable wives, Coretta Scott King and Betty Shabazz, by their sides, King and Malcolm X became synonymous with the civil rights era and the fight for racial and economic justice.

Recurring are Dean Petriw, Lennix James, Alix West Lefler, Alisha Newton, Ashley Tavares, Moheb Jindran, Ellie O’Brien, Mya Lowe, and Gabrielle Jacinto. Rodriguez stars as Jackie, who’s from a well-to-do New York Upper West Side family and a true Manhattanite. Her focus is on her studies, not drinking, partying, or meeting boys, and her goal is Princeton.

Nikki Rodriguez (On My Block) is set as the lead Jackie Howard in the project, with Suits alumna Sarah Rafferty and Marc Blucas (Swagger) as the Walter parents and Noah Lalonde (Asbury Park), Ashby Gentry (Are You Afraid of the Dark?), Connor Stanhope, Johnny Link and Corey Fogelmanis as five of the titular Walter boys. Zoë Soul and Jaylan Evans round out the series regular cast of the 10-episode series, which has begun production in Calgary.
