The Girls creator is on board to write a film adapting author Michael Lewis’ best-selling 2023 book Going Infinite: The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon. Apple Studios and A24 are producing and developing the movie that is in early development.

In March, the disgraced crypto entrepreneur was sentenced to 25 years in prison and forced to forfeit over $11 billion following his conviction on charges of fraud, conspiracy and money laundering. Bankman-Fried is appealing the conviction and sentence.

Will “The Bear” explode in nominations for Season 2? (Probably.) Will “The Morning Show” finally get its first drama series nomination? (Yes.) Gold Derby editors and Experts Christopher Rosen and Joyce Eng are here with their final Emmy nominations predictions.
After winning 10 Emmys, including Best Comedy Series, for its maiden season, “The Bear” will likely expand in nominations for its even more acclaimed sophomore installment. But is it strong enough to pull in a coattail nominee like Molly Gordon in supporting actress? Or will “Hacks” score a coattail with Meg Stalter after its excellent third season? And could both Meryl Streep and Janelle James be snubbed?
See Experts slugfest: ‘The Bear’ Season 3 is here — how will Emmy voters respond (for Season 2)?
“Shōgun’s” shift from limited has shored up spots in lots of drama categories, but both supporting races still feel volatile. While eight of “The Morning Show’s” 11 nominations have been for acting,...

Lena Dunham will not subject herself to negative critiques about her body and has opted not to return to acting in her new Netflix series Too Much.
In a new interview, Dunham said she won’t be starring in her semi-autobiographic show on the streamer because of all the body shaming she faced on HBO’s Girls.
“I was not willing to have another experience like what I’d experienced around Girls at this point in my life,” Dunham said in an interview with The New Yorker. “Physically, I was just not up for having my body dissected again. It was a hard choice, not to cast [Megan Stalter]—because I knew I wanted Meg—but to admit that to myself.”
She continued, “I used to think that winning meant you just keep doing it and you don’t care what anybody thinks. I forgot that winning is actually just...

Lena Dunham is no longer attached to the previously announced Polly Pocket film.
In a wide-ranging interview with The New Yorker published Tuesday, the Girls creator revealed that despite working on a script for three years, she decided it wasn’t the right project for her.
“I’m not going to make the Polly Pocket movie. I wrote a script, and I was working on it for three years. But I remember someone once said to me about Nancy Meyers: the thing that’s the most amazing about her is that the movie she makes or the movie she would be making with or without a studio, with or without notes—that somehow her taste manages to intersect perfectly with what the world wants. What a fucking gift that is. And Nora Ephron, too, who was such a mentor to me, but always said, ‘Go be weird. Don’t kowtow to anyone,...

Lena Dunham revealed in a new interview with The New Yorker that she is no longer attached to Mattel’s “Polly Pocket” movie, which was announced back in 2021 with the “Girls” creator writing and directing and “Emily in Paris” favorite Lily Collins set to star. The film, along with Barney and Hot Wheels, is one of several projects Mattel had its in development pipeline as a follow-up to last year’s blockbuster “Barbie.” It turns out Greta Gerwig’s Oscar winner provided Dunham with the clarity she needed to put ‘Polly Pocket” aside.

Although 2023 Emmy nominations voters were able to view the entire second season of “The Bear” while judging the merits of its first, the team behind the FX series did not employ a similar strategy in 2024. Nonetheless, the newly released third season will still influence TV academy members as they spend part of August deciding whether season two is worthy of any wins. The latest episodes have already impacted the mindsets of Gold Derby’s 2024 Emmy predictors, who have collectively boosted its odds in several categories over the past week.
As has been the case since this Emmys season began, “The Bear” currently holds over 80% of the Best Comedy Series win votes in our predictions center. Even now that our number of participating readers exceeds 3,000, none of this category’s other candidates have managed to crack 10%. “The Bear” is also expected to dominate five of the six comedy acting races,...

Everywhere Cora (Megan Stalter) goes, she finds herself in situations that beg others to ask one simple yet pointed question: “What is wrong with you?” Cora may brush off such flippant passive-aggressive digs at her wellbeing and overall sense of composure, but it’s soon clear that Hannah Pearl Utt’s wry comedy “Cora Bora” will forcefully (and hilariously) get this aspiring musician to reckon with the life she’s trying to build for herself in Los Angeles, away from her family, her girlfriend and a past she’ll soon no longer be able to run away from.
Life in L.A. doesn’t seem to be going well for Cora. In between daytime gigs at mostly empty coffee shops and late night gigs at even emptier bars, her solo career looks to be floundering. With titles like “Dreams Are Stupid” and “Don’t Wanna Hear You Anymore,” her embittered...

When Season 3 of “Hacks” premiered at the beginning of May, reaching that moment had been hard won.
Nearly two years had passed since its second season concluded; real life simply got in the way. The writers strike and the actors strikes caused delays, but even before that — and on a more serious, human note — the show’s two-time Emmy-winning star Jean Smart had emergency heart surgery.
Nevertheless, she persisted. “Hacks” — the creation of Jen Statsky, Lucia Aniello and Paul W. Downs — roared back for its third season, perhaps its best yet.
The season returned with a time jump, with legendary comedian Deborah Vance (Smart) basking in the triumphant success of the deep, thoughtful and hilarious stand-up special she created with her partner in comedy, Ava Daniels (Hannah Einbinder). Deborah, however, is never one to stay content, and decides to go after a soon-to-be vacant late-night talk show hosting gig, one...

Say what you will about Warner Bros. Discovery’s business practices, but Max knows it has a very good thing in “Hacks.” The award-winning comedy, which is likely to be the only serious competition for FX’s “The Bear” at this year’s Emmys, has already been renewed for Season 4. The news couldn’t have come at a better time, as the explosive Season 3 finale, which is titled “Bulletproof” and is now streaming, sets Deborah (Jean Smart) and Ava (Hannah Einbinder) down a surprising new path as the former’s stint as the host of a late night show officially gets underway. But their relationship isn’t the only one changing as the season comes to an end — Jimmy (co-creator Paul W. Downs) and Kayla (scene-stealer Meg Stalter) embark on a new chapter, too. A brilliant, complex and altogether hilarious look at friendship, ambition and women in Hollywood, “Hacks” is...

Spoiler Alert: This interview contains spoilers for “Bulletproof,” the Season 3 finale of “Hacks.”
The hacks of “Hacks” are moving up in the world, but not without a cost.
After tireless work alongside Ava (Hannah Einbinder), Jimmy (Paul W. Downs) and Kayla (Megan Stalter), the penultimate episode of “Hacks” Season 3 saw Deborah finally land the late-night hosting gig she’d been dreaming of since having her first chance taken away decades ago. In the finale, titled “Bulletproof,” her celebration gets cut short as she starts to prepare for the onslaught of pressure to come.
It hasn’t been long since Deborah reinvited her sister Kathy (J. Smith-Cameron) into her life after cutting her off years ago for having an affair with her husband, but she then distractedly whittles down a weekend they’d planned together to a single day, during which she reveals that she secretly had their parents’ remains removed...

It is three o’clock in the morning at a blackjack table inside Las Vegas’s sprawling Caesar’s Palace casino. A woman in town on business has just turned a $150 bankroll into $800, and she moves to retire to the nearby bar to buy her work family, whose fortunes at the same table have varied, a drink.
“I swear I barely know how to play,” she tells them. “But I do know the most important thing is to leave the table before your luck runs out.”
Jean Smart already has five gilded Emmy awards causing her shelves to groan under pressure. She deserves another for her “barely know how to play” nonsense.
