Jasrac announced on May 22 that two-member unit Yoasobi 's third single song, "Idol," featured as the Oshi no Ko anime's opening song won the Jasrac Awards' Gold Award. The award means the song had the highest distribution of copyright royalties from Jasrac in 2023. The Jasrac Awards are given in recognition of the achievements and honor of lyricists, composers and music publishers of works where the Jasrac distributed royalties in the previous fiscal year, including streaming, karaoke, commercials and more. The mystery behind the cryptic letter ‘Y’ featured on the official website of the new Monogatari anime has been unveiled. The website confirmed on May 2, 2024, that Y represented none other than the Japanese pop duo Yoasobi who will be in charge of performing the theme song of Monogatari Series Off & Monster Season.

The theme song is titled ‘Undead’.

In a statement provided by Yoasobi, composer Ayase expressed profound enthusiasm, stating, “The ‘Monogatari Series’ holds a special place in my heart, so much so that I always cite it as my favorite anime. When the opportunity arose to contribute to its latest installment, I was truly ecstatic. I poured my love for the series and each character into the song, with every fiber of my being. Thank you all for your support.“

Vocalist ikura echoed Ayase’s sentiments, expressing gratitude for the chance to be part of such a beloved franchise.

Yesterday, the official Twitter account for Nisioisin’s anime adaptations posted a mysterious “Y” alongside a countdown after previously posting an “O” and “M” in January, which ended up being an announcement for Monogatari Series Off & Monster Season . Now, that countdown has ended and we now know why it was teased! The “Y” stood for Yoasobi , who were announced today to be performing the theme song “Undead” for the series. However, it’s not noted if “Undead” will be the opening or ending theme tune, or if the single will just be for the first arc, Orokamonogatari , or all the arcs. Yoasobi composer Ayase said that they have “always had a fondness for the Monogatari series” and that “whenever I've been asked which is my favorite anime series, I always answer with ‘Bakemonogatari.’” “Undead” will be previewed tomorrow as part of a compilation video for the Monogatari series on Abema.

TV Asahi aired a special program on April 21, 2024, dedicating nearly three hours to unveil the top 20 favorite anime songs as voted by non-Japanese anime fans. The program aimed to explore the widespread popularity of Japanese anime culture and its music overseas.

The official website of the anime adaptation of Inio Asano’s Dead Dead Demon’s DeDeDeDe Destruction manga, revealed its second trailer for the movie on April 17, 2024.

The plot of part 2 continues from the second part. However, as specified in the trailer, Dead Dead Demon’s DeDeDeDe Destruction’s anime adaptation will have an original ending.

Makoto Shinkai recently took to Twitter on March 14, 2024, to share his thoughts on the upcoming anime film adaptation of Inio Asano’s Dead Dead Demon’s De De De De Destruction following its preview screening.

The winners of the 38th Japan Gold Disc Awards for 2023 winners were announced on March 12, with two-member unit Yoasobi 's third single song, " Idol, " featured as the Oshi no Ko anime's opening theme, winning two of its major awards — "Song of the Year by Download," which is given to a single track with the highest total number of paid download, and "Song of the Year by Streaming," which is given to the single track with the highest total number of streaming. "Idol" was digitally released on April 12, 2023, with its CD single following on June 21. As previously reported , the song became Spotify's most played song of 2023 in Japan. The song's music video also has over 446 million views on YouTube. Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 was the big winner at Crunchyroll’s Anime Awards in Tokyo over the weekend, taking the top-prize anime of the year honor and triumphing in 10 additional categories, including best director, best character design, best action and best cinematography. The best film prize went to Mokoto Shinkai’s anime blockbuster Suzume, while Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc won several key categories, such as best animation and best fantasy.

The annual awards show, now in its eighth year, selects leading achievements in Japanese animation across a broad range of categories and picks the winners via a global popular vote. Crunchyroll just wrapped up its 2024 Anime Awards, and what a night it was! Held live in Tokyo and streamed worldwide, the event was a grand celebration of anime, featuring big names from all corners of entertainment. Sally Amaki and Jon Kabira hosted the show, making sure everyone had a great time.

The 8th annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards just concluded in Tokyo — with “Jujutsu Kaisen” Season 2 wining a total of 11 honors, including the top prize of anime of the year.

Crunchyroll revealed the winners of the fan-voted awards during a live ceremony Saturday, March 2, featuring celebrity presenters and musical performances. (The full list of winners is below.) A replay of the 2024 Anime Awards, hosted by voice actor Sally Amaki and entertainer Jon Kabira, will be available to stream on Crunchyroll’s official YouTube and Twitch channels.

Three-time Grammy-winner Megan Thee Stallion (pictured above) presented the award for anime of the year to “Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory/Premature Death.” The series also won trophies for best director (Shota Goshozono), best action, best character design, best cinematography, best ending and opening sequences, best supporting character (Satoru Gojo) and three voice actor awards.

Jujutsu Kaisen won Anime of the Year at the eighth annual Crunchyroll Anime Awards, which were handed out Saturday in Tokyo.

The Japanese manga series, which debuted in 2018, also won Best Action of the Year, dominated this year’s event, also winning Best Cinematography, Best Character Design, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor, Best Opening and Best Ending Sequences, plus three additional awards for Best Voice Actors in different languages.

Other winners included Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc), which collected three awards including Best Animation and Best Art Direction.

Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction marks Asano's first anime adaptation, bringing his dark sci-fi drama to life.
