Joemy Blanco
- Actress
Actress Jo Blanco has been working steadily for the past 10 years in
Mexico, Colombia, the U.S and her hometown Puerto RIco. Jo's love for
the dramatic arts began at an early age when her family would take
weekly Sunday trips to the theater. Jo's grandfather was the famous
Latin Jazz pianist Joe Blanco which made it easy for Jo to fall in love
with the magical creative process of performing - it was in her blood.
Her growing passion led her to compete in oratory, forensics and choir
where she won several awards not only in Puerto Rico but also in
Florida and Canada. As a teen Jo landed the lead role in the musical
"Tela Pa' Cortar". She not only demonstrated her skills in acting but
also in singing and dancing. Jo was named the best newcomer of that
year (1997) by The San Juan Puerto Rico Star Newspaper. After
graduating high school Jo was accepted by audition into the Theater
Department School of Florida's International University where she
studied for a year. From there Jo decided to pursue acting in her
native language and auditioned for CEA (Centro de Educacion Artistica)
Televisa and was one of 30 accepted out of 5,000 applicants. Televisa
immediately offered her a contract where she had various roles in
multiple series for the network. While in Mexico City Jo also landed a
lead role in the film "Punto Y Aparte". Jo continued to work in
television in Miami for Univision and Telemundo and also landed a lead
role in the Lifetime Networks TV movie "Vanished". She also made
appearances in two music videos for Nelly Furtado. In 2010, Jo received
the "Best Actress" award for her work in "Las Detectivas Y El Victor"
at the "Premios TV Y Novelas" Award ceremony held in Colombia. Jo
currently lives in Los Angeles where she continues to study acting and
writing.
