When Dexter: Original Sin viewers see the fedora and hear the giggle, they know who’s coming.

For eight seasons on the original Dexter, the audience of Showtime’s hit serial killer series became familiar with the main players on the Miami Metro Homicide team where Michael C. Hall’s starring Dexter Morgan worked. Two of those characters were Detective Angel Batista, played by David Zayas, and forensics expert Vince Masuka, played by C.S. Lee.

Prequel series Dexter: Original Sin, which arrived on Paramount+ last week, heads back to the 1990s to show how Dexter (played here by Patrick Gibson) became the blood splatter analyst by day and serial killer by night who viewers were introduced to in the 2006 series. “Dexter: Original Sin” brings fans back to the serial killer they all know and (perhaps worth examining) love, but he’s wearing a different face this time around.

No, not literally. Dexter Morgan isn’t that kind of psychopath. I’m asking you to protect them.” No matter what the year, the Duttons’ ranch and way of life are always under attack.

The Season 2 cast also includes Helen Mirren, Julia Schlaepfer, Jerome Flynn, Darren Mann, Brian Geraghty, Aminah Nieves, Michelle Randolph, Sebastian Roché, Timothy Dalton, and new cast member Jennifer Carpenter. Taylor Sheridan is the creator and executive producer.

The “Yellowstone” prequel “1923” has set its Season 2 premiere date at Paramount+.

The epic western series will premiere on Feb. 23, with new episodes dropping weekly thereafter. Paramount has also released two brand new teasers for the series, which can be seen below. In the teasers, the Duttons and their gargantuan ranch are under siege as Jacob Dutton declares “Our way of life is under attack.”

Taylor Sheridan’s phenomenally popular series, the most-watched show currently airing on television, returns on Sunday, Nov. 10. The new batch of episodes (six in total) serve as the second half of the show’s fifth season, which began way back in November 2022. Since then, the show has endured a very public feud with its star Kevin Costner, two strikes that shutdown Hollywood and a considerable amount of handwringing about what direction the series will ultimately take.

And while it appears that the mainline series is coming to an end, although that “final season” bit has been left out of the marketing materials for the second half of season 5 (so far), there will still be plenty to come from Sheridan’s considerable “Yellowstone” universe. These plans include a whole suite of “Yellowstone” spinoffs, which are somewhat confusing and difficult to parse through. But that’s why we’re here.

“Dexter: Original Sin” is rounding out its cast, adding Eli Sherman, London Thatcher and Sarah Kinsey to the prequel series, TheWrap can exclusively reveal.

Eli Sherman will play Dexter as a young child, meaning the series will officially bring together three different iterations of the serial killer; Patrick Gibson is of course leading the series as a young adult Dexter, and Og Dexter Morgan Michael C. Hall is returning to lend his voiceover to the series.

Sarah Kinsey will also be playing a familiar face to “Dexter” fans, as she’ll be taking over as Camilla Figg, Miami Metro’s file clerk, and one of Harry Morgan’s closest confidantes. Figg was played by Margo Martindale in the original series.

Meanwhile, London Thatcher will be playing Nicky Spencer, the son of Captain Aaron Spencer (Patrick Dempsey).

“Dexter: Original Sin” takes place in 1991 and follows Dexter (Gibson) as he transitions from student to avenging serial killer.

Exclusive: Augustus Prew (Players) has joined the cast of the Paramount+ original drama series 1923 for Season 2. In a recurring role, Prew will portray ‘Paul’, a dapper, bookish, well-to-do young British man on a passenger ship.

1923 follows a new generation of Duttons led by patriarch Jacob (Harrison Ford) and matriarch Cara (Helen Mirren). The series explores the early 20th century, when pandemics, historic drought and the end of Prohibition plague the Mountain West and the Duttons who call it home.

Hall will lead Showtime/Paramount+’s upcoming “Dexter” sequel series, “Dexter: Resurrection,” which is set to follow the events of the last sequel series, “Dexter: New Blood.” The big question is how will that be possible since the 2022 finale saw the serial killer bleeding out in the freezing cold.

At the time, showrunner Clyde Phillips confirmed that “Dexter is dead.” So, how is he back now that that’s been confirmed?

“Was it?” Hall coyly asked at the Variety studio, presented by Google TV, at San Diego Comic-Con. “I don’t know what I am authorized to say other than, it’s really cold out there.”

New Blood didn’t do a great job in terms of saving the dumpster fire finale of the original series, but it did a few things right in terms of course correction. Moreover, the show ended with the death of Hall’s main character, which means Resurrection may go out of its way to bring back Dexter Morgan from the dead.
