Earlier today, we got word that Marvel Studios had shelved (or at least paused development on) three planned Disney+ shows: Nova, Terror Inc., and Strange Academy.

Marvel is said to have "shifted its priorities," and we're hearing that one of the projects the studio may now be focusing on involves a very different type of academy.

During this week's episode of The Hot Mic, Jeff Sneider mentions that a source told him that an "X Academy" series is in the early planning stages.

In the comics, the Academy X students debuted in the pages of New X-Men #23, and were basically introduced as yet another incarnation of the New Mutants (students that would eventually work their way up to the main roster). The original line-up consisted of Anole, Armor, the Cuckoo Triplets, Dust, Elixir, Prodigy, Pixie, and Rockslide.

On the heels of the recent news that Elliot Page is set to re-team with Inception director Christopher Nolan on his upcoming adaptation of Homer's The Odyssey, we're hearing that The Umbrella Academy star might be in line for an MCU role in the near future.

Though we don't have many details, scooper Mttsh claims that Page has met with Marvel Studios for a potential part in an upcoming project.

As we're sure any fan of 20th Century Fox's now defunct X-Men franchise will be aware, this wouldn't be Page's first Marvel Comics role, as he - then still known as Ellen Page - played Kitty Pryde, aka Shadowcast, in X-Men: The Last Stand and Days of Future Past. The X-Men rumors continue to swirl, and we can now add another name to the list of potential actors Marvel Studios is said to be looking at to fill out the McU's roster of mutant heroes.

Though we don't have a specific character for this one, The Hot Mic's Jeff Sneider has heard that House of the Dragon star Tom Glynn-Carney is someone the studio "likes" for an undisclosed role.

Apparently, Glynn-Carney - who plays King Aegon Targaryen on HBO's Game of Thrones prequel series - took a meeting that "went well," but we don't have much more to go on for the time being.

Assuming Glynn-Carney is being considered for a part in the X-Men movie, who would the 30-year-old Brit be best suited to play? There are obviously a number of possibilities, and we're still not sure which characters will make up the team.

It was open season on all things Marvel during this week's episode of The Hot Mic, and while co-host Jeff Sneider didn't reveal anything outright, he did drop a few intriguing hints about several upcoming projects, and one fairly significant - let's call it a "suggestion" - relating to Denzel Washington's mysterious MCU role.

Washington has already confirmed that he is set to appear in Ryan Coogler's Black Panther 3, but we don't know who he's playing yet. Sneider notes that it's "totally possible that he could be playing an X-Men character," and after asking the listeners to "do the leap," he says he "definitely thinks Denzel could be the villain of X-Men."

To this, John Rocha asks, "so Denzel is playing Magneto, is what you're saying?"

Again, there's nothing too concrete here, but Sneider does seem to know more than he's willing to come right out and say.

The Rookie didn’t take long to gain recognition and acclamation in the police procedural crime drama series world as it brought about the story of forty-year-old rookie John Nolan and his troubles in the Los Angeles Police Department. One of the major reasons behind this was its critically outstandingly performing star-studded cast.

Starring the ever-so-talented Nathan Fillion in the lead, it had the likes of Alyssa Diaz and Eric Winter giving epic performances. But the surprising part is that none of these mentioned actors, despite being so renowned, is the richest star in the series. Rather, that title belongs to someone else entirely, someone who only joined the saga from season 4.

Who’s the richest star in The Rookie?

Even though The Rookie has been winning fans over since 2018 and flaunts a star-studded cast, none of the actors attached to it are as rich as Jenna Dewan.

This year is going to be a Fan-tastic one for Marvel superheroes and villains. Plenty of movies are coming in 2025 that will have Marvel Cinematic Universe fans begging for more. However, the magic is when the character on the page is embodied by the perfect person on the screen.

Several X-Men and Avengers of the past have proven when those two merge into one perfectly, a supernova of excitement can happen. One of the superpowers of Kevin Feige and his team is casting. Not enough praise can be lauded for the work Marvel Studios puts in to choose the right individual to bring their characters to life. Look at 2025 in the MCU, which will include Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross/Red Hulk, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams/Wonder Man, Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as the Fantastic Four, and Ralph Ineson as Galacatus.

Wesley Snipes' return as Blade in Deadpool & Wolverine was a huge surprise following his repeated clashes with Ryan Reynolds on the set of Blade: Trinity. The actor's scenes were among the threequel's best and it seems everyone wants to see more of the Daywalker.

True Detective star Mahershala Ali was announced as the McU's Blade in 2019 but has so far only lent his voice to Eternals' post-credits scene and the upcoming Marvel Zombies animated series (where he'll play a Blade Variant who becomes Moon Knight). As we write this, his solo movie appears no closer to becoming a reality.

We'll have to wait and see what happens there but Hot Toys has finally pulled the curtain back on its 1/6th scale Blade figure based on Snipes' appearance in Deadpool & Wolverine.

As the X-Men casting rumors continue to swirl (we should start to see official announcements fairly soon), we're hearing that Mystique will be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe reboot, and the studio might just have someone in mind to play the shape-shifting mutant.

According to scooper Mttsh, Hunter Schafer is being eyed to play Raven Darkhölme in the upcoming movie.

Whether this means Schafer is actually in talks for the part is not clear. All we've been told is she is being considered.

Schafer has become a highly sought-after talent since her breakout role in Euphoria, and has gone on to appear in the likes of The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and recent horror hit, Cuckoo.

Exclusive: Coming off of Sundance buzz movie Together, Dave Franco is set to star with O’Shea Jackson Jr (Straight Outta Compton) and Peter Dinklage (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes) in raucous comedy, The Shitheads, which is likely to be an in-demand project at next week’s EFM in Berlin.

Rumour has it that Dafne Keen will reprise her role as X-23 in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. It would make sense for Laura to finally suit up there, particularly if Earth-10005 is the same reality glimpsed at the end of The Marvels; the expectation is that an Incursion will lead to a clash between that world's mutants and Earth-616's Avengers.

Dafne Keen, known for her portrayal of the X-23 version of Wolverine, has one important condition in order for her to return to her role.

After making her debut as the young mutant Laura in 2017's Logan, Keen joined the massive cast of legacy heroes seen in 2024's Deadpool & Wolverine. There, she led a Multiversal team of heroes trapped in the void, including Jennifer Garner's Elektra, Wesley Snipes' Blade, and Channing Tatum's Gambit.

Keen broke out as a star through this character, leading many to want her to continue her run as Laura/X-23 for years to come. Now, with Multiversal walls about to be torn down in the MCU, the opportunity may be there for her to do just that.

After clashing on the set of It Ends With Us, actor Blake Lively's feud with co-star and director Justin Baldoni has led to multiple lawsuits being filed. Those feature almost endless charges and counter-charges but boil down to Lively accusing Baldoni of harassment and retaliation, with Baldoni saying the Green Lantern star has defamed him.

This weekend, Baldoni has updated his lawsuit against Lively to add various claims - a full breakdown can be found on a newly launched website - including accusations of bullying from Ryan Reynolds via Deadpool & Wolverine's Nicepool.

Baldoni and his lawyer argue that Nicepool was created by Reynolds to mock and bully him. "Reynolds portrayed Nicepool as a vicious caricature of a 'woke' feminist before concluding the character’s arc with his violent shooting death at the hands of 'Ladypool,' a character voiced by Blake Lively," the suit states.

Though we're probably still a while away from some official news, X-Men casting rumors have been picking up steam over the past few weeks, and we now have word on another actor who could be in the mix to play Scott Summers.

According to Jeff Sneider on this week's episodes of The Hot Mic, Harris Dickinson might be one of the actors Marvel Studios is looking at to play the leader of the team, Cyclops, in the long-awaited reboot.

This follows an earlier rumor which claimed that Jack Champion is being eyed for the part.

Sneider does note that this is just something he's heard through the grapevine (if he thought Dickinson was actually in contention for the role he'd have included the story in his newsletter), but he "knows Marvel likes" the actor and thinks he could be a frontrunner.

When Channing Tatum made a surprise appearance as Gambit in last year's Deadpool and Wolverine, it was assumed that he would reprise the role if Marvel Studios decided to include the character in the planned X-Men reboot, but this may not be the case.

According to scooper Daniel Richtman, a recent casting grid reveals that Marvel is currently searching for actors to play the Ragin' Cajun and Kitty Pryde, aka Shadowcat.

This isn't the first time we've heard that Pryde would be part of the team, but if this is accurate and the studio is also looking for someone to play Remy LeBeau, it obviously suggests that Tatum will not be returning - at least, not for the X-Men movie.
