Despite Train to Busan's unbeaten reputation, one Squid Game actor just made it look more impressive than ever. Yeon Sang-ho's acclaimed movie remains at the top of the all-time best fast zombie movies even eight years after its release. Train to Busan follows a group of passengers on a train ride from Seoul to Busan as they fight to survive a fast-spreading zombie virus. With a special focus on a workaholic businessman and his estranged daughter, the film delivers heart-rending moments that mix perfectly with the blood-curling horror.
Going from a neglectful father to a relentless protector and hero, Seok-woo's transformation is one of the most incredible performances in Korean horror movies. Actor Gong Yoo, who plays The Salesman in Squid Game's cast, is Train to Busan's anchor, delivering an affecting story of redemption with all the excitement of a zombie movie. Though Alien: Romulus received a mostly positive response from critics and fans, one aspect of the movie that was met with almost universal backlash was the likeness of a deceased actor being used for a new character via VFX.
When Rain Carradine and her crew arrive on the derelict space station, they learn that the ship's android is still functional despite clearly being in very bad shape after a Xenomorph attack. They plug him in to discover what happened, and we see that the synthetic is the same model as Ash from Ridley Scott's original movie.
The late Ian Holm was "resurrected" (with permission from the actor's estate) to achieve this, but even setting aside the controversy surrounding the practice of "digital necromancy," the effects used to portray the character were... not the best.

The Boys Co-Creator Breaks Down the Inspiration Behind the Story's "Perverted and Screwed Up" Heroes
It's no secret that The Boys is a story about superheroes, but these heroes constantly defy traditional expectations. Unlike the iconic champions of truth, justice, and a better world, the heroes in The Boys' universe are driven by darker motivations. This subversion of the classic superhero archetype was, in fact, the primary inspiration behind creators Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's vision for the series.
What’s less widely known is that Ennis and Robertson were not interested in creating just another "heroes gone bad" story. By the time The Boys debuted in 2006, the superhero genre had already seen several iconic – and compelling – superhero deconstructions, such as Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' Watchmen and Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns.
Instead of merely satirizing individual characters, Ennis and Robertson aimed to dismantle the entire superhero genre—lock, stock, and flowing cape.

Exclusive: Rashida Jones, Will McCormack and Michael Govier have been set to write Tom and Jerry, a feature that will be made under Bill Damaschke’s Warner Bros Pictures Animation.
They will be starting fresh on the new iteration of the misadventures of the cat Tom and mouse Jerry, hatched in 1940 by William Hanna & Joseph Barbera at MGM. Until MGM shuttered its animation division, they made 114 shorts that won 7 Oscars. Later versions came from Gene Deitch and Chuck Jones, and then others. The characters most recently toplined the 2021 hybrid film Tom & Jerry. While through the years it has been criticized for the sometimes violent ways the cat tries to trap the mouse and pays dearly for it, the venerable franchise has been an influence on many cartoon series including The Simpsons.

The news that Jessie T. Usher’s A-Train will return in The Boys season 5 is great for both the character himself and the show as a whole. The Boys season 5's story is tough to predict after the many twists and turns of its most recent outings. The Boys season 4’s finale left Victoria Neuman dead and Butcher more powerful than ever, but even his new powers would be no match for the unholy alliance of President Calhoun and Homelander. Despite defeating Neuman, Butcher inadvertently left Homelander and Sage in a stronger position than ever.

The premise of Sherwood Schwartz's popular 1964 sitcom "Gilligan's Island" is handily explained in its theme song: five passengers check into a three-hour boat tour, run by the skipper and first mate of a tiny tourist boat called the S.S. Minnow. The ship hits some bad weather and is thrown miles off course, landing on an uncharted desert isle. The seven tourists become seven stranded castaways. No phones, no lights, no motorcars, not a single luxury. Like "Robinson Crusoe," it's as primitive as can be. The septet have to learn to live together, usually to comedic effect.
Gilligan (Bob Denver) was the above-mentioned first mate, and his innocent cluelessness and tendency to bumble often thwarted the castaways' ability to escape. He shared the island with his Skipper (Alan Hale), a professor (Russell Johnson), a pair of married millionaires (Natalie Schafer and Jim Backus), a farmer (Dawn Wells), and a...

It wouldn’t be an official Saturday Night Live season without disgruntled comedians complaining that the nearly 50-year-show ripped off their jokes. Sometimes, the accusations are eye-rolling — in October, a New York stand-up complained that Andrew Dismukes’ “Hey Soul Sister” sketch copied his bit. But there’s not much to the allegation — both simply make fun of Train’s cringe song. Get in line. People have been ripping that song for years.
The Whitest Kids U' Know, the 2000s sketch comedy group with a cult hit on IFC, might have a more credible claim to comedy idea theft after the recent John Mulaney episode. Sister Sage (Susan Heyward) is the most compelling new supe in "The Boys" season 4. Unlike Stillwell and Stormfront before her, she's the first woman on the show to successfully form a respectful alliance with Homelander — and by "successfully," we just mean she managed to survive the whole season around Homelander without getting lasered to death. That's pretty impressive; sure, Firecracker (Valorie Curry) has also tried her best to do the same in the fourth season's final episodes, but somehow we don't think it's gonna go as well for her.
What makes Sage's survival of Homelander more impressive is how much she hid from him throughout the season; she knew A-Train (Jessie T. Usher) was the mole in the Seven instantly, but she never snitches him out. Her explanation in the finale is that she saw A-Train as controlled opposition; he was leaking info to the Boys, sure, but all that...

Alien: Romulus Director Fede Álvarez In Talks To Helm Sequel; New Predator Movie Also In Development
Two classic sci-fi horror franchises were recently given new leases of life, with the Predator returning to hunt his Prey in Dan Trachtenberg's 2022 movie, and the Xenomorphs back to their chest-bursting best in this year's Alien: Romulus.
Both films were critically-acclaimed and very popular with audiences, so it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to learn that Disney-owned 20th Century Studios is planning more instalments.
We already knew that a Prey spin-off titled Badlands was in the works, but 20th Century Studios boss Steve Asbell has now revealed that a "secret" Predator movie will also be with us next year that will also be helmed by Trachtenberg. Badlands will be a theatrical release, but it sounds like this other film will be going straight to streaming.

Andrew Dismukes got some shine in the Saturday Night Live spotlight this weekend. He and Ego Nwodim play a young couple trying to convince their skeptical parents that their interracial romance will stand the test of time. To prove his love, Dismukes breaks out a ukulele to sing a song he wrote about their love — Train’s, er, his “Hey, Soul Sister.”
It’s a one-joke premise — can you believe this piece-of-crap hit was so cringe? — entirely tied to Dismukes’ committing to the bit. He does so to B+ effect, but one comic in New York was crying foul after the sketch aired.
Comedian Demetrius Fields took to Instagram to complain: “Someone at Saturday Night Live ripped off my bit last night so here’s a recording of me doing it from last May,” he said. “I’ve been doing it for 5 months in a lot of the same rooms...

A certain Train-penned earworm received a savage attack in one of the first sketches on this week’s Michael Keaton-hosted “SNL” episode. Set in Detroit, Michigan in 1955, the sketch takes place at a suburban home where an interracial couple looks to win over their family’s support for their union.
The actual Train song was inspired by ideas of what Burning Man could be like — its own potentially racially problematic real-life context, but not at all what’s presented in the sketch.
Ego Nwodim and Andrew Dismukes play the couple in a sketch titled “Forbidden Romance,” which opens with the families arguing before Dismukes urges them all to sit down. He explains to his parents, played by Heidi Gardner and Keaton, “Janey and I are in love, and we intend to wed.”

The marketing team for the hit Prime Video superhero satire series "The Boys" has done some incredible work blurring the lines between the show's reality and our own reality with a strong social media presence for fictional mega-conglomerate Vought International. They've also helped bridge the gap between seasons with things like the hilarious fake Fox News-style segments "Seven on 7," and now they've provided a quick update on one of season 4's biggest loose ends... sort of.
In a post on the website formerly known as Twitter, the official Vought International account shared an update on the status of A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), who disappeared in the penultimate episode of the season after Homelander (Antony Starr) discovered that he was the mole inside the Seven secretly working for The Boys.
Vought has frequently spun the disappearance of various supes in different ways, even replacing Black Noir under everybody's noses after the original one died.

Not since Bicycle Thieves has a film focused so determinedly on the theft of a bike as James, receiving its world premiere at the Oldenburg Film Festival. Which isn’t to suggest Max Train’s eccentric new comedy has much in common with Vittorio De Sica’s 1948 neorealist classic, aside from similarly being shot in black and white. The sort of picture for which the term “quirky” could have been invented, it bears much more similarity to the early works of Jim Jarmusch, especially in its deadpan style. Probably best appreciated at a midnight screening after a few drinks, the Canadian indie is yet another example of the festival discovering a small-scale gem.
The movie begins with the hard-drinking title character (Dylan Beatch, who co-wrote the screenplay with Train) being violently arrested and then recounting his tale to a detective who wants to know why he has committed so many crimes against a single individual.

Those who loved the South Korean horror movie Train to Busan should check out this new Netflix series that has a notable commonality with the 2016 movie. When it comes to South Korean zombie movies, Train to Busan is one of the most significant of the last few years. The movie tells the story of Seok-woo, a man who is trying to save himself and his daughter when a zombie outbreak takes place on their speeding train. Earning an impressive 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, Train to Busan is a horror staple, which is why many viewers crave similar projects.
It is important to note that Train to Busan is not so lauded because it is simply scary. Of course, the movie definitely has its fair share of scares and disturbing gore, but there are other, more important elements of the film as well. For example, the movie considers how humans react when...

Alien: Romulus contains quite a few call-backs to Ridley Scott's original masterpiece and James Cameron's sequel, but it also reintroduces a concept from one of the less popular movies in the franchise, Alien: Resurrection.
Towards the end of the film, a pregnant and dying Kay injects herself with the Prometheus 5 formula to keep herself alive. Though she does survive (for a while), this ultimately results in her giving birth to a human/alien hybrid.
Named "The Offspring" in the credits, this rather terrifying creature does look a lot better than the albino monstrosity from Resurrection, but introducing another hybrid was a choice that not everyone was fully on board with... including the studio!
While speaking to THR, director Fede Alvarez revealed that the studio did initially have some reservations.

With A-Train officially exiting the Seven, Vought International is without one of their most famous supes, and The Boys has already revealed how the organization will cover this up in season 5. Despite remaining loyal to Vought for the first three seasons and squandering various opportunities at redemption, A-Train finally followed a better path in season 4 and left the superhero group behind. Not only was he one of The Seven's original members when the show started, but A-Train is also one of The Boys' strongest characters, meaning his absence from Vought will be a huge deal in season 5.

Season 4 was a rough period for poor Annie, Aka Starlight. She got into a mostly one-sided feud with new supe villain Firecracker (Valerie Curry) that killed her reputation, she lost her powers for a bit, and then she spent ten days chained up to a radiator while a shapeshifting supe slept with her boyfriend Hughie. The poor woman needs a win! This might be why her actress, Erin Moriarty, has a clear request for the fifth (and final) season: she wants Annie to finally get to kill the Deep (Chace Crawford).

There’s an inventive sequence early in the unexpectedly delightful Beetlejuice Beetlejuice in which the Bee Gees’ “Tragedy” accompanies Monica Bellucci’s soul-sucking demoness as her hacked up body parts are shaken loose from crates in the afterlife’s lost-and-found warehouse, where she proceeds to stitch herself back together like a gorgeous DIY Frankenstein monster. That scene multitasks as a show of kinship with the same actor’s role as a vampire bride in Bram Stoker’s Dracula; a tribute from Tim Burton to a key Gothic literature inspiration; and a darkly delicious valentine to the director’s offscreen partner of the past two years.
One of many inspired set-pieces in a clever sequel laced with hilarious callbacks to the 1988 original and amusingly eclectic pop-culture references to everything from Carrie to Mario Bava, from Soul Train to Donna Summer, it’s not the only time during the movie that I scrawled,...

This is a call from Donald Trump to Foo Fighters.
A spokesman for the ex-potus and current GOP presidential nominee hit back at the multiplatinum band today after Dave Grohl and company complained about their hit “My Hero” being played at a weekend rally without the band’s consent.
“It’s Times Like These facts matter, don’t be a Pretender,” Trump’s rep Steven Cheung wrote on X, copping the titles of two Foo tracks.
“My Hero” blared on the Pa during a rally with new endorsee Robert Kennedy Jr. in the swing state of Arizona on Friday, and the band made its distaste — and lack of approval — known soon afterward. Only trouble is, the Trump camp said it has licensed use of that song and so many others from performing-rights company BMI.

Alien: Romulus is set at some point in the 57-year gap between Ridley Scott's original and James Cameron's Aliens, which means Ellen Ripley was out there - somewhere!
The movie contains several call-backs to earlier films in the franchise, but aside from that quote towards the end, there didn't appear to be any direct references or nods to Sigourney Weaver's iconic heroine.
Or so we thought!
While chatting to the ReelBlend podcast, director Fede Álvarez revealed that there are “a few clues I’ve planted in the movie,” before adding that “it kind of defeats the whole purpose” if he points out exactly what they are.
There's been some speculation that Ripley's escape shuttle can be seen blasting away from the wreckage of the Nostromo at the beginning of the movie.
The filmmaker also suggests that there may have been early discussions about somehow working Ripley into the movie.

New Radicals are back with their first music release in 25 years: their versions of “Murder on the Dancefloor” and the Begin Again song, “Lost Stars.”
The new music was announced this week by New Radicals’ Gregg Alexander via an open letter penned to Kamala Harris’ husband, Doug Emhoff, who has used the band’s song “You Get What You Give” as his walk-on music at campaign events (including the DNC this week). In the letter, Alexander explains that the two singles arrive as “a musical gift to you, Doug, and our other fans,” in an effort to “rally the cause of democracy and encourage all artists to get out the vote.”
To that end, Alexander clarified that “this isn’t some ‘comeback’ — this is us doing our small part to support the fight for freedom!” Elsewhere in the letter, he praised Emhoff as a “family man of conscience who cares...

Alien: Romulus has slashed its way into theaters this weekend and, unsurprisingly, it's opened at #1 in North America. According to Deadline, current projections point to Fede Alvarez's reboot debuting with north of $40 million following a combined $18.5 million from Thursday previews/Friday.
The movie is already "Certified Fresh" on Rotten Tomatoes with 81% and has been awarded a B+ CinemaScore. Alien was released before CinemaScore's introduction but James Cameron's sequel, Aliens, has the franchise's best score with an A.
After that, there's Alien vs. Predator (B), Prometheus (B), Alien: Covenant (B), Alien Resurrection (B-), Alien3 (C), and Alien vs. Predator: Requiem (C).
A B+ puts Alien: Covenant right behind Aliens as the second-best-reviewed instalment, so that's a solid result.
Back to those box office takings, and Deadpool & Wolverine will slip to #2 with a projected $27 million - $29 million after a $8.5 million Friday. It Ends With Us is looking at third place with a $23 million haul.

The Boys offers a unique take on superheroes, exploring consequences of super-powered beings in society. Characters like Hughie and Kimiko showcase a diverse range of powers and abilities within the show. The series features a variety of memorable supes, with unique strengths and weaknesses depicted throughout the seasons.
The Boys is based on a long-running comic series, but Prime Video's adaptation is an intriguing idea that takes a slightly more measured approach to the deconstruction of the superhero genre, and this shows in The Boys powers. The show wrestles with questions like "What are the consequences of having super-powered superheroes in society with the everyday person?" and "What happens when superheroes aren't all decent people and become more concerned about their celebrity status than the people they are supposed to protect?"
Viewers get an exploration of this when Hughie, an everyday human, watches his girlfriend torn apart as A-Train...

A lot happened during the season 4 finale of The Boys. Among them was Ashley Barrett taking a shot of Compound V after hearing that she was on the list of people Homelander wanted dead. The problem with taking any V is that the results are random. You could become as strong as Homelander, as fast as A-Train, or end up with hammer hands like Groundhawk. Unfortunately for Ashley, taking the shot was the only way to save her life.
After Ashley takes the shot, her head grows and her wig falls off. It’s like her brain was growing out of her skull. It’s easy to think that she’ll develop telepathy or telekinesis. Telepathy would keep her a step ahead of Homelander at all times. However, another way to stay alive is to become invulnerable. Jack from Jupiter is the only character in The Boys comic book that can do that.

Ashley Barrette's costume design subtly foreshadowed her Compound V twist in The Boys season 4. Despite adversity, Ashley refuses to flee with A-Train and injects herself with Compound V instead. Her transformation into a powerful supe symbolized by her jaguar print dress hints at her rise to power.
Ashley Barrette's Compound V twist towards the end of The Boys season 4 was perfectly foreshadowed by her costume design. Following the events of Gen V, Ashley Barrette's The Boys season 4 story begins on a low note when Homelander demotes her after getting Sister Sage involved in the Seven. As a result, Ashley considers resigning from her job but struggles to gather the courage to make the move. Things take an even more tragic turn for Ashley when Tek-Knight passes away, and she starts fearing that Homelander will kill her after learning about her secret partnership with A-Train.

The Boys: The Shocking Marvel & DC Parodies You Never Saw Coming - Main Image
In a world where superheroes are always looked up to, the famous series The Boys says: What if they are flawed and egotistical? The Amazon Prime series has broken the traditional hero narrative by exposing the darker side of fandom.
The superheroes in this darkly comedic series are shockingly accurate parodies of Marvel and DC characters. Writers haven't held back from making parodies of famous comic book characters.
William Billy Butcher - Karl Urban
The character of Billy Butcher can be seen as a direct parody of The Punisher from Marvel. Both these characters operate outside the law using violent means and are highly skilled in combat.
They don't trust government and established institutions and are driven by vengeance.
The Female - Karen Fukuhara
Kimiko Miyashiro, or The Female, resembles two X-Men characters, Deadpool and Wolverine.

Jack Quaid’s Hughie from The Boys has been absolutely killing it since the first season. He’s the voice of reason, the glue that holds the boys together, and a total fan favorite. Believe it or not, he almost nabbed the role of Superman in James Gunn’s Dcu!

However now, the fans are rallying behind him to snag the role of Wally West in the DC universe. The irony of it all adds a hilarious twist to the mix.

The “disaster movie” is not quite as visible as it used to be in Hollywood, but thankfully for fans, South Korea has more than picked up the slack. In just the last two decades, Koreans have had to deal with a variety of catastrophes on screen, including a tsunami, a collapsed tunnel, an unstable power plant, and multiple zombie outbreaks. The latest offering in this genre, however, stands out from all the rest. Not because the disaster in question is unique; a bridge pile-up is only the beginning in Kim Tae-gon‘s Project Silence.
This movie doesn’t waste any time getting to its main attraction; after their cursory and brief introductions, the core characters all make their way to the ill-fated bridge where multiple dangers loom. When this looks to be another case of rag-tag strangers coming together for their collective survival — and it very much is one — the...

A-Train is having one heck of a season on The Boys! His character has really been changing for the better. At first, he only cared about himself and doing whatever it took to stay famous. But now, he’s becoming a real hero.
One big moment that showed how much A-Train has grown happened a few episodes back. Mother’s Milk wasn’t feeling so good and ended up in the hospital. Instead of just ignoring it, A-Train rushed over right away to help. And get this – he did it all without any cameras or fans around! He helped his friend cause it was the right thing to do.
Later, A-Train opens up to Mother’s Milk about how good it felt to help without anyone watching. It was nicer than any of the attention he got before. This seemed to really change something in A-Train. Now...

There was a time when Homelander used to think he was the smartest person on the planet, but then came Sister Sage, who crushed his delusions and hurt his self-respect without mercy. Homelander never actually liked the people who showed him his real face. And the moment the two met, we knew that their association wasn’t going to last long. In the seventh episode, the inevitable did happen. Sage had designed an intricate plan to shoot two birds with one stone. The Boys team had incriminating evidence against Homlaander, Neuman and Sage and somehow Sage wanted to turn the tides in their favor. However, being a person who lacked patience, Homelander fired Sage for hiding things from him. He saw Sage’s act as a sort of betrayal while she had her reasons to do so. But let’s not go there, as the arrogant man would never understand.

Despite receiving favorable reviews overall, both Gears 4 and 5 did not achieve the impact Microsoft had hoped for, especially not among hardcore fans. That’s why the studio decided to present Gears of War: E-Day, a prequel to everything seen in the saga so far.
Fans of the franchise hope to see better-developed characters, more organic moments of humor, and a positive balance between narrative and horror. These were some aspects of the new games made by a different studio and development team that were criticized by IP followers.

Warning: Spoilers ahead for The Boys season 4, episode 6, "Dirty Business."

The Boys season 4, episode 6, "Dirty Business," doesn't seem to want to decide on how effective one of Homelander's superpowers actually is, as the installment shows various characters approaching Anthony Starr's character with disparate levels of caution. Returning to play another huge role in the cast of The Boys season 4, Homelander's superhuman abilities are just as fearsome as ever. While no one dares cross the Superman parody directly, the show has revealed a shockingly easy way he can be subverted - but it may not make sense.

Lopez seemed to take no shortcuts as she pursued Hollywood success. She initially started her career as a dancer, ending up on Keenen Ivory Wayans’ In Living Color as a Fly Girl. The sketch comedy show helped launch several actors’ careers, including Lopez’s, who would pursue film roles after leaving In Living Color. Some of her earlier film roles were Mi Familia, Money Train, and Serena, which earned her critical acclaim and more opportunities.

Imagine your favorite character is getting more than the normal amount of screen time. If he’s an anti-hero then he might finally join the good guys. Now imagine Antony Starr’s Homelander standing over his dead body. Welcome to The Boys!
Homelander drenched in blood in a still from The Boys | Amazon MGM Studios
Well, that’s what happens when you try to cross Homelander. Hmm… who is one of the main characters of the show who suddenly joined the good guys’ side and is getting a lot of screen time lately? Well, our ‘train’ of thought ends here.
A-Train Is One of the Good Guys Now?
Apologies for the train pun but the character of A-Train wasn’t so ‘good’ to begin with. Although his character arc is one of the best that the series has produced, A-Train is on the run to have meaning to his life.

In the latest episode of The Boys season 4, there are several hilarious references to the superhero genre and the film industry. The Tek Knight scene includes a joke about Warner Bros.' constant rebooting of the Batman franchise. Fu Manchu's inclusion in Vought's history is a nod to Marvel's own history of hiding racist characters from its past.
The Boys always takes potshots at Marvel and DC, but season 4, episode 5, Beware the Jabberwock, My Son, takes particularly harsh satirical aim at the comic book giants. While Hughie is trying to control his now-superpowered father and Butcher is dealing with flying bloodthirsty sheep, the supes in The Seven all attend Voughts V52 Expo, The Boys universes version of Disneys D23 event. The purpose of this expo, both the real Disney one and the fictional Vought one, is to reveal the slate of upcoming projects to get fans excited about where...

The Boys has been a show with some shocking deaths, but unlike Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon, the majority of the main cast have been safe from gruesome deaths, even if they have come close. However, Season 4 has the makings of one of the most shocking deaths in the series, and it won’t be a first either.
A-Train in The Boys || Amazon Prime Video
A-Train has had a lot of screentime in Season 4, with him actually turning to the good side, and even reconciling with Hughie. A-Train even went into Homelander’s lair to steal for Hughie, just so he is off the hook for killing his girlfriend. This has caused a few genre-savvy fans to come to the conclusion that A-Train might be running towards his own death, and for good this time.
A-Train’s death might be satisfying if it’s in defiance...
