Emma Stone might be in a whole bunch of your favorite movies — but what are her favorites?
In January 2024, Stone spoke to Letterboxd — the social media site centered around movies — about her "four favorites," a regular interview the outlet does with major Hollywood celebrities. After appearing visibly stressed by the prospect of only picking four movies, Stone responds that Charlie Chaplin's 1931 comedy "City Lights" is her all-time favorite movie. "I love 'Network,'" Stone continued, name-checking the 1976 dark comedy that won Best Picture at the 49th Academy Awards in 1977. "'Mikey and Nicky,' I just saw it for the first time a couple of weeks ago," Stone raved, citing Elaine May's movie (also from 1976) about a mobster and his best friend (played by John Cassavetes and Peter Falk). "I love almost every Cassavetes movie — that one wasn't Cassavetes, he's just in it. It's obviously Elaine May, who's a genius,...

It’s a little shocking when Jim Gaffigan walks out on stage for his new Hularious stand-up special, The Skinny. The reason: Gaffigan is, well, skinny. Shockingly so, like down-50-pounds skinny. And the secret behind his weight loss isn’t what you’re thinking, which he says right at the top: He’s not on Ozempic. “I’m on a different one,” he clarifies. “I’m on Mounjaro, which is better because it sounds like an Italian restaurant.”
Gaffigan spends the first 10 minutes of The Skinny getting real about his weight loss, including the knowledge that it might be temporary. While his doctor recommended the appetite suppressant to prevent future health problems, Gaffigan is keeping his “fat clothes” for the inevitable slide.
He’s also aware of the drawbacks of such medications, replacing self-discipline, exercise and healthy eating with “a weekly shot that killed all the passion inside of me.

Remember the Y2K scare, when we were afraid that computers wouldn’t be able to process having a 2 in the year instead of a 1, and which would lead to the collapse of society? That didn’t happen, but what if it did? What if the electronics came to life and tried to kill us? That would be phat, wouldn’t it? That’s the premise of “Y2K,” an A24 horror comedy that the distributor released a trailer for on Wednesday.
“Y2K” is the directorial debut of former “Saturday Night Live” cast member Kyle Mooney, who also wrote the script with Evan Winter and appears as a stoner who hangs out with high school kids half his age. The film is set during a New Year’s Eve party which two uncool high school kids (Jaeden Martell and Julian Dennison) crash. The second trailer for A24’s Y2K features a remixed Bill Clinton playing over a 1990s montage of dial-up internet and panic at a 1999 New Year’s Eve party.
“Someone’s on the net,” a panicked Rachel Zegler says at the beginning of the trailer, released Wednesday.
The clip reveals few other details about the upcoming film, which will be the directorial debut of Saturday Night Live‘s Kyle Mooney.
The movie hits theaters Dec. 6, and centers on two high school juniors who find themselves fending for their lives after crashing a New Year’s Eve shindig on the last night of the 20th century. Turn-of-the-century technology appears to take over the party, turning the night potentially deadly, with a computer aboard a remote control car chasing party guests around a living room.

Remember the paranoia that spread throughout the late ’90s when people believed the world’s entire computer infrastructure would crash once the clock struck midnight on the year 2000? Misinformation around the potential bug caused many to go into panic mode, purchasing bulk supplies of food and water, as well as backup generators, and even withdrawing large sums of money from the bank. Thankfully, no such tech failure came to pass, nuclear warheads were kept in their silos, and the world kept spinning. Nevertheless, for writer/director Kyle Mooney, this potential phenomena has clearly stayed with him, inspiring his directorial debut, “Y2K.”
Set on New Year’s Eve 1999, the sci-fi comedy depicts an alt history in which the Y2K disaster actually did come to pass, albeit in a more grandiose fashion. Rather than simply shutting down the world’s technology, Mooney and co-writer Evan Winter imagine a world in which...

We’re not going to offer any kind of defense of Jonah Hill, who, judging from events that played out on social media last year, may be closer to his This Is the End character than any of us thought. But it turns out that we do have to thank the Superbad star for one thing: He saved one of SNL’s most wonderfully bizarre recurring sketches from the editorial wrath of Lorne Michaels.
This week’s episode of The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast concerned the Digital Short “Andy’s Dad,” in which Hill reveals that he’s been secretly dating Andy Samberg’s father (played by SNL head writer Jim Downey).
The podcast also featured a prolonged voicemail from Hill himself, who discussed not only “Andy’s Dad,” but also “Clancy and Jackie” from the same 2008 episode. That sketch found Will Forte and Kristen Wiig playing country singers Clancy T.

It is far from rare to see well known actors transition into film directing as many well known actors such as Jonah Hill and Jordan Peele have risen from their acting career to bring a story they care about to the big screen from the director’s chair. There have been varying results to come from this but in the case of Anna Kendrick, known for franchises such as 'High School Musical' and 'Twilight', uses her freshman debut, ‘Woman of the Hour’ (2024), as a director to bring to the big screen a chilling fashion a retelling of the real life Dating Game show participant Sheryl Bradshaw (spelled Cheryl in the film) and her acquaintance with the infamous serial killer Rodney Alcala. James Gunn Denies ‘Joker’ Series With Barry Keoghan Is In Development: “Absolutely No Truth To This”
James Gunn is shutting down rumors that a Joker series starring Barry Keoghan is in the works.

Aziz Ansari’s (belated) directorial debut Good Fortune will land in 2025, with Keanu Reeves and Seth Rogen leading the cast. More here.
Lionsgate has announced a release date for Good Fortune, the upcoming Aziz Ansari comedy that brings a promising cast together with a fun premise for the actor’s long overdue directorial debut. The Parks & Recreation star has been in the frame to direct his first film for some time, and began production on a feature that was ultimately scrapped.
None of that was Ansari’s fault however. Here’s a quick recap: back in 2023, Ansari was in the midst of production on Being Mortal, a comedy movie he was directing for Searchlight Pictures. During production, an accusation was made about Bill Murray’s on-set conduct which ended up shutting production down. The film never got going again and was ultimately scrapped. Steve Carell’s The 40-Year-Old Virgin is often regarded as one of the funniest films of the 2000s and was instrumental in introducing many future stars. Judd Apatow’s directorial debut saw Carell leading a film for the first time and also featured Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, Catherine Keener, Romany Malco, Leslie Mann, and Elizabeth Banks.
The film was reportedly based on a sketch that Carell had envisioned while he was performing improv comedy with the Chicago-based troupe The Second City. He mentioned that he pitched the idea as a last-minute ditch attempt after talking about multiple ideas with Apatow. He also said that the film was greenlit in a few weeks.

Jonah Hill discussing his hospital stay related to filming The Wolf of Wall Street (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Jonah Hill, the comedic genius behind Superbad and 21 Jump Street, found himself in the hospital with bronchitis after a health mishap on The Wolf of Wall Street set. The culprit? There is too much fake cocaine. Playing Donnie Azoff—loosely based on real-life stockbroker Daniel Porush—came with a fair share of drug-induced antics. Hill didn’t do any actual drugs, of course, but his substitute was a rather intense alternative: vitamin D powder.
The film, directed by Martin Scorsese, is packed with unrestrained debauchery, and Hill’s character is almost always high. Hill and co-star Leonardo DiCaprio spent seven months on set to keep things authentic, mimicking characters constantly hitting the “gear.” That meant Hill was shoveling lines of powder daily, but he didn’t know that even something as “harmless...

Benito Skinner is digging deep for his starring TV debut.
The actor and comedian recently opened up about Overcompensating, his upcoming Prime Video series in which he plays “a version of myself in the closet” during his college years.
“I’m so excited. I just got back,” said Skinner while appearing on Jake Shane’s Therapuss podcast. “It was a really, truly unbelievable experience. I feel like I learned so much about myself and the way I make things, and I was so inspired by working with the cast.
“I just dissociated so many times because I would be like, ‘I wrote this scene four and half years ago and now I’m seeing an actor that I have respected my whole life doing it, and I’m kind of me but not really me and Mary Beth [Barone] kind of looks like my sister but it’s not really her,...

Francesca Eastwood is more than just a media fixture. The name, however, has taken quite the tumble in the last few days, with her arrest on a felony domestic violence charge and the imminent fallout. While the details of the incident remain elusive for many, it is also naturally raising a few eyebrows.

Francesca is one of Clint Eastwood’s eight children. Her mother, Frances Fisher, is perhaps best known for her role as Ruth DeWitt Bukater in Titanic (1997). Fisher and Clint Eastwood met in 1988, during the pre-production party for Pink Cadillac, never wed, and split by 1995, when Fisher started going out with George Clooney.
Clint Eastwood, meanwhile, is still chugging on. Almost seventy years into his career, the 94-year-old’s Juror #2 will be out in November 2024, a film in which his daughter Francesca plays a role.

The Penguin, a spinoff of director Matt Reeves' movie The Batman starring Colin Farrell as the Caped Crusader's third or fourth most famous villain, is currently one of the best things on TV. The grounded crime drama is unexpectedly gripping, particularly with actors like Farrell and Cristin Milioti at its center. The most recent episode, "Cent'anni," was one of the best yet, and pulled in more viewers than any episode of the show so far. Word about the show's high quality is getting around, and I guarantee that the back half will blow people's minds.
Colin Farrell is getting a ton of well-deserved praise for his performance as Oswald Cobb, with a huge assist from makeup artist Mike Marino, who changes his face so much I'm still surprised whenever I remember it's actually Farrell under there.

Yorgos Lanthimos has added Alicia Silverstone to the star-studded cast of “Bugonia,” his upcoming sci-fi conspiracy movie led by Emma Stone and Jesse Plemons.
Best known for her iconic role as Cher in “Clueless” (which she reprised last year during the Super Bowl), Silverstone memorably appeared in Lanthimos’ 2017 psychological thriller “The Killing of a Sacred Deer.”
The Oscar-nominated filmmaker’s latest movie follows two conspiracy-obsessed young men who kidnap the high-powered CEO of a major company, convinced that she is an alien intent on destroying planet Earth. The script is from Emmy winner Will Tracy, based on the 2003 South Korean comedy “Save the Green Planet.” Details of Silverstone’s role are being kept under wraps.
“Bugonia” was developed by “Parasite” producer Cj Enm with Ari Aster and Lars Knudsen at Square Peg. Lanthomis, Aster and Knudson are producing the project with Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe (Element Pictures), alongside Stone...

The Penguin is the latest addition to Matt Reeves’ Batman Epic Crime Saga, set approximately one week after the events of The Batman: Part I. The series follows Oswald Cobb as he navigates the power vacuum left by Carmine Falcone’s death.
So far, the show has received acclaim as one of the greatest DC series of all time, featuring an exceptional cast and standout performances from all involved, particularly Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone and Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobb.
When Colin Farrell was first announced as The Penguin, many fans were skeptical about the casting choice, pointing out that he didn’t resemble the character. However, thanks to the incredible work of the prosthetics team, Farrell is almost unrecognizable, embodying the role with a hunched back, a noticeable limp, and strikingly grotesque facial features, including baldness.
This transformation is truly remarkable, despite Farrell frequently expressing his discomfort with the costume.

‘The Penguin’ is the most recent installment in the Matt Revees’ Batman Epic Crime Saga. The show takes place about a week following the events of ‘The Batman: Part I’ and follows Oswald Cobb and his attempts to fill the power vacuum left over by the death of Carmine Falcone.
The show is so far being praised as one of the greatest DC shows of all time. It features an amazing cast and performance by everyone involved. Notably, Cristin Milioti, who portrays Sofia Falcone, and Collin Farrell, who portrays Oswald Cobb.
When Farrell was first announced as The Penguin, fans did not like the choice for the role. Most noting that Farrell looks nothing like Oz. Still, the prosthetics department did their magic and Farrell is unrecognizable. Everything from his iconic hunched back to his limp is present along with some grotesque details on his face and baldness.

With an upcoming return to the screen next year, Cameron Diaz is opening up about her decade-long hiatus from acting.
The four-time Golden Globe nominee recently explained why she took an extensive break from Hollywood following her last role as Miss Hannigan in the 2014 Will Gluck-helmed update of Annie.
“For me, it was just something I had to do,” she said at Fortune‘s Most Powerful Women Summit. “It felt like something I had to do to reclaim my own life. And I just really didn’t care about anything else. I didn’t. Nobody’s opinion, nobody’s success, no one’s offer, no one’s anything could change my mind about my decision of taking care of myself and building the life that I really wanted to have. So, I think it really comes to: What are you passionate about? For me, it was to build my family.

Russell Brand worked with Sean “Diddy” Combs in the film Get Him to the Greek, in which Combs played crazed, egomaniacal record executive Sergio Roma to Brand’s rock and roll star, Aldous Snow. Brand opened up about his experience working with Combs back in 2010, admitting you “can’t say no” to the music mogul and businessman.
Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was ‘intense,’ says Russell Brand
In May 2010, Russell Brand told BlackTree TV that he felt very “looked after” by Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs. “He looked after me, he took me on an enforced holiday to Vegas,” Brand explained
He shared, “[Combs] is a very intense man because, I think, he comes from nothing, and now he’s very powerful. People that do stuff like that, they’re intense.”
“Now, I like him. He’s very influential. Say, Diddy went, ‘Could you pick me up for the airport? I’ve just got back from holiday.

It’s October now, which means that the temporary haunted house business is in full swing. If you’re not interested in exploring the monster-filled dreamscape of the dude from Fever Pitch, there’s always Universal Studios’ Halloween Horror Nights. The popular annual attraction features various spooky mazes inspired by movies and TV shows including A Quiet Place, Insidious and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, which may or may not end with a scare actor dressed as Dan Aykroyd popping out of a wall and forcing you to buy his vodka.
The event rarely takes inspiration from comedies, but in 2015, Universal unveiled a haunted maze based on a Seth Rogen movie. While one could argue that The Green Hornet is Rogen’s most horrifying work to date, the maze was actually themed around This Is the End.
This Is the End starred Rogen, James Franco, Danny McBride and Jay Baruchel as fictional...

After a lengthy and well-received run on the festival circuit, “Going Varsity in Mariachi” has arrived this week on Netflix, where it should find the wide mainstream audience it deserves. And “mainstream” really is the operative word here. Although it may sound in synopsis like a niche-audience attraction, this engaging and entertaining documentary about Texas high-schoolers playing for keeps in statewide mariachi band competitions has the right stuff to delight even viewers who normally wouldn’t know the difference between a grito and a guitarrón.
As the opening titles succinctly explain: In Texas, where football usually tends to dominate any discussion about spirited rivalries between high schools, over 100 public schools also field competitive mariachi teams in the hopes of winning the state championship. Most of the premier teams, we’re told, hail from the Rio Grande Valley — specifically, a closely connected group of towns along the US-Mexican border.
But not all teams are created equal.

Channing Tatum didn’t expect for a line from one of his previous roles to become a forever meme.
In an interview with Cinemablend, the Blink Twice star admitted his 21 Jump Street character saying, “My name is Jeff,” in the 2014 comedy has continued to be quoted to him, even in an unexpected place.
“It’s weird what happens in pop culture like that, you know? Same with ‘My name is Jeff.’ It’s such a small moment in the movie,” he said.
Tatum recalled the line not being “that funny” when reading the script at a table read at the time but it’s the one that unexpectedly became a fan favorite: “I remember we did a table read and it wasn’t even that funny at the table read. It was like whatever. And all of a sudden, man.”

In the new horror-comedy film “Y2K,” directed by Kyle Mooney in his feature film debut, high school students find themselves confronting a peculiar threat at a notorious New Year’s Eve party. As the clock ticks down to the year 2000, electronics like Tamagotchis and cell phones suddenly turn against the partygoers. Rachel Zegler and Jaeden Martell lead an ensemble cast playing two juniors who must battle rogue devices to survive the night.
The film centers on Zegler and Martell’s characters crashing a wild end-of-the-millennium bash. However, the party takes a dangerous turn when everyday electronics like toys and phones start malfunctioning in disturbing ways. “A Tamagotchi just drilled through a chick’s head!” one character remarks in the trailer, hinting at the mayhem that ensues. The students find themselves facing down a technological onslaught with no explanation for the devices’ newfound aggressiveness.

Rachel Zegler is not ready to party like it’s 1999 in the trailer for the A24 disaster-comedy feature Y2K.
Saturday Night Live standout Kyle Mooney directs the movie that hits theaters Dec. 6. The film centers on two high school juniors who find themselves fending for their lives after crashing a New Year’s Eve shindig on the last night of 1999. Rounding out the cast are Jaeden Martell, Julian Dennison, The Kid Laroi, Fred Durst, Mason Gooding, Alicia Silverstone and Mooney.
The trailer shows a libidinous party going horribly wrong when electronic devices — many of which are touchstones from the end of the 20th century — attempt to destroy humanity. At one point, a character exclaims, “A Tamagotchi just drilled through a chick’s head!”
Later in the footage, Martell looks for the silver lining when telling Zegler, “This has been the shittiest night of my life. But it’s cool...
