While fans have nearly a year to wait for the conclusion, Part 1 will be available to purchase or rent on Digital starting December 31. The home release includes bonus features such as behind-the-scenes clips, deleted scenes, and more.
Wicked left fans with several lingering questions, which director Jon M. Chu teases may be answered in Part 2. One Wicked star, Marissa Bode, is speaking out against insults and hurtful jokes relating to her disability. Bode plays Nessarose Thropp, and she is featured prominently as the sister of Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo). Ever since a car accident when she was 11 years old, Bode has been using a wheelchair as a mobility tool. She began acting prior to the accident, and she has continued in the industry in a variety of shorts. Wicked is her first major on-screen production, and the upcoming Wicked: Part Two will be her second.
After the massive debut of her movie, Bode took to TikTok to offer a short monologue about her experience. While she admits that anyone can dislike Nessarose's personality, she has drawn the line about insults and jokes about her wheelchair. She has been cleaning her social media feed by moderating ableist comments, but she admits that even having this conversation is difficult and intimidating.

A little over a year ago, I sat in the Gershwin Theatre here in New York City, dressed in green, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Wicked. It was only my second time seeing it live, though considering all the times I've run through the soundtrack in my head, the number could almost be much higher. To say I love this musical is an understatement, so I had some very, very high expectations for the long-awaited movie adaptation, finally brought to the big screen by director Jon M. Chu.

The live-action movie adaptation of the hit Broadway musical is here, and there are options for where to watch Wicked in theaters or on streaming. 1939's The Wizard of Oz is an iconic piece of movie history, and its continued notoriety led to the expansion of the world in various forms over the years. Following the popularity of Wicked as a stage musical for so many years, Universal developed a film adaptation. Despite its inspiration, Wicked is not connected to The Wizard of Oz in a traditional sense; instead, it serves as a companion piece with similarities and differences.

There’s no place like CinemaCon for Universal to debut enchanting new footage for Jon M. Chu’s adaptation of Wicked! On Wednesday, the studio dropped a house on the CinemaCon crowd at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, helping Elphaba, the Wicked Witch of the West, to tell her side of a misunderstood story.
During Universal’s CinemaCon presentation, the studio surprised the crowd by activating lanyards and roses given out before the presentation. Like magic, the objects lit up, flashing different colors as the theater filled with music. When the Great and Powerful Oz showed up, the lights interacted with his entrance. Jeff Goldblum is Oz, and he took the stage to introduce the film. “I’ll be a ringtail flying monkey if that’s not the biggest flying cranium I’ve seen in my life,” Goldblum quipped about his character.

Snow White star Gal Gadot teases about portraying the Evil Queen in Disney's upcoming live-action remake. The 1937 musical fantasy was Disney's first animated feature film, adapting the Brothers Grimm fairy tale and helping pave the way for the company's long legacy. Voiced by Lucille la Verne in the original movie, the Evil Queen's jealousy of Snow White (Adriana Caselotti) led to her orchestrating various schemes to kill her stepdaughter.
With Gadot having donned her Evil Queen make-up, the star has opened up about how she crafted her portrayal of the live-action Snow White villain to Vogue Hong Kong. Stating that she had fun with the role, Gadot explained that the role of Evil Queen allowed her to experiment and try new things to have a more animated performance, including changing her voice that would fit the character. Check out Gadot's full explanation below:

There have long been talks of taking Wicked from stage to screen and the popular Broadway musical is finally being adapted into a two-part feature film. Derived from The Wizard of Oz and based on Gregory Maguire's 1995 novel, it tells the origin story of the Wicked Witch of the West. By changing the audience's original perception of Elphaba and revealing the details of her past, Wicked transforms one of cinema's most notable villains into the ultimate underdog.
The cast of the musical has changed several times over the years. However, Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel played the original duo when the show first opened in 2003. Now the baton is being passed to Cynthia Erivon and Ariana Grande, who will be taking on the lead roles in Wicked's latest adaption. In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Cynthia Erivo opens up about playing Elphaba and all the preparation required for the part.

Wicked's original star Kristin Chenoweth explains why a two-part movie adaptation makes sense for the award-winning musical. Based on Gregory Maguire's 1995 novel, Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, Wicked was first brought to life as a musical production in 2003. Originally starring Kristin Chenoweth as Glinda and Idina Menzel as Elphaba, Wicked explores the events leading up to and upon Dorothy's arrival in the Land of Oz. Serving as an imaginative prequel to The Wizard of Oz, Wicked follows unlikely friends Glinda and Elphaba as they grow into their roles as The Good Witch and The Wicked Witch of the West. A massive success on Broadway, a highly-anticipated movie adaptation of Wicked is on the way, with director Jon M. Chu confirming it will be split into two parts.
