Clive Davis once again filled the Beverly Hilton’s international ballroom to the brim with music industry insiders as he presented his pre-Grammy celebration and concert. As always, Saturday night’s show featured a unique mix at the microphone of legends (Joni Mitchell, Barry Manilow), rising stars (Shaboozey, Benson Boone and Teddy Swims) and rock royalty (members of Black Crowes, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Metallica).
But this year’s starry event had a new moniker on the program, billed as an “event” rather than a “gala,” due to the catastrophic Los Angeles blazes that ripped through the city last month. While the wildfires forced a pivot — the typically glamorous affair got scaled back a bit by nixing the red carpet and its crush of press and photographers — and introduced a focus on fundraising via MusiCares, music, as always, remained the start of the show. Clive Davis’s famed Pre-Grammy Gala hit a major milestone Saturday night, as the event originally created to celebrate Barry Manilow’s first Grammy nomination has now gone on for 50 years as one of the award season’s most iconic fixtures.
Like the rest of the Grammy programming this year, with Los Angeles reeling after suffering multiple devastating wildfires, the Gala took on a renewed purpose this year, reshaping its purpose into a high-profile fundraiser for MusiCares. Along with the MusiCares Person of the Year event honoring the Grateful Dead Friday,...

Donald Trump’s first week in office was defined by a torrent of executive orders and proclamations, with the president openly hailing the beginning of a transformative era of American politics. While Trump is more than happy to brag about the orders he’s signed cracking down on undocumented migrants, targeting transgender Americans, and banning Dei, there’s one order he won’t be bragging about any time soon.
Hours after taking office, Trump’s White House announces a bulk repeal of dozens of executive orders and directives signed by former President Joe Biden.

Donald Trump has issued a blanket pardon to 1,500 of individuals who were convicted of offenses or faced charges relating to the Jan. 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol. He also signed 14 commutations, deeming the offenders to have fulfilled their sentences with time served.
“This is January 6,” Trump said, sitting in the Oval Office, holding a black folder with the proclamation. “And these are the hostages. Approximately 1,500 for a pardon. Full pardon.”

The morning after she hosted the Golden Globes, comedian Nikki Glaser dropped by Howard Stern’s radio show to discuss her monologue and all the jokes she couldn’t tell — jokes that were left on the cutting room floor because of time, the sensitive nature of the Beverly Hilton crowd or a mainstreamed notion of decency.
She was hardly the first person to do this, a post-mortem ritual that allows edgier emcees to blur the line between public and private, restraint and release, allowing them to be contained and uncontainable all at once.
After his formal inaugural address on Monday, Jan. 20 — conducted in the Capitol Rotunda out of fear that his supporters have a level of weather-based common sense comparable to that of drunk fans at wintery NFL games — President Donald Trump made a brief show of adherence to norms by standing around long enough to watch Joe Biden depart.

First Lady Jill Biden revealed she is disappointed in former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for her role in pressuring Joe Biden to drop out of the 2024 presidential election.
On July 10, 2024, Pelosi appeared on MSNBC to discuss the debate within the Democratic party about Biden’s viability as a reelection candidate
After being asked if she supported the president’s former bid for reelection, she told the outlet that it is “up to the president to decide if he is going to run.”
“We’re all encouraging him to make that decision because time is running short,” she added.
The ex-House Speaker mentioned that while Biden is “beloved” and “respected” within the Democratic caucus, she noted that it is not her place as a former party leader to make an endorsement.

President Biden asserted last week that he “could have” and “would have” beaten Donald Trump in the 2024 election, had he not dropped out of the race — but “The View” host Alyssa Farah Griffin definitely doesn’t believe that. And what’s more, the ABC host thinks it’s “disrespectful” to Kamala Harris for him to say so.
Biden’s comment came during a press conference at the White House, when he was asked whether he regretted his initial decision to run for re-election, instead of clearing the way for Harris earlier.
The president replied, “I think I would have beaten Trump, could have beaten Trump,” but that he “thought it was important to unify the party.” He also noted that he thought Harris “could have and would have” won, seemingly confused for a moment.

Zooey Zephyr will not allow herself to be marginalized, no matter how hard some people try to make that happen.
She won election to the Montana House of Representatives in 2022, becoming the first openly transgender person to serve in that legislative body. But after Zephyr passionately spoke against anti-lgbtq bills under consideration and criticized supporters of that legislation, the Republican-dominated House of Representatives moved to silence her.
Zephyr’s journey from duly elected lawmaker representing Missoula to pariah banned from the House floor, gallery and antechamber is told in the Oscar-shortlisted documentary Seat 31: Zooey Zephyr, streaming on The New Yorker website and on The New Yorker’s YouTube page. It’s directed by Kimberly Reed, a Montana native and openly trans filmmaker whose credits include Prodigal Sons and Dark Money.

On Tim Allen’s newest TV show Shifting Gears, the TV giant larps as a blue-collar man’s man who owns the libs and learns some lessons about family in what critics have described as “a comedy.”
“Headstrong widower Matt owns a classic-car workshop,” reads the IMDb synopsis of the ABC show. “When his separated daughter and her teenage children arrive at his house, the real restoration begins.”
Created by Mike and Julie Thacker Scully, the former of whom is best known for show-running The Simpsons through its infamous “Jerkass Homer” era, Shifting Gears is the second broadcast sitcom featuring an older stand-up playing a conservative father who butts heads with his estranged liberal daughter to premiere this month, following Fox and Denis Leary’s Going Dutch.

Is there something going on that we should know about? That’s what everyone seems to be asking as Nancy Pelosi might be in some serious trouble. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
Nancy Pelosi – Might Be In Serious Trouble
According to the latest reports, 84-year-old Nancy Pelosi was seen using a walker during Donald Trump’s election certification.
Pelosi has stated frequently in recent months that Trump is “unwell” to be president of the United States. She’s currently using a walker after she fell down a set of stairs and broke her hip, which required surgery.
It goes without saying that the internet certainly does have a lot to say about the matter. Some have even commented with, “She broke her hip and is rehabbing after a fall. I get it she’s old and I don’t like her either but c’mon lol.

2025 is here, and the new year is starting off with some major political stories. It's the kind of stuff Real Time with Bill Maher loves to get into. So what should fans expect to see tonight on HBO?
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson has his job secured, Donald Trump has a sentencing date, and Elon Musk has a growing interest in European politics. These topics and more would make for interesting material in Bill Maher's monologue or a Real Time panel discussion.
Unfortunately, we won't get to hear anything like that on Friday night. There will not be a new episode of Real Time with Bill Maher tonight.
Maher and his team are still on hiatus between seasons. But the good news is that we won't have to wait long to see the comedian back on HBO.

President-elect Donald Trump, who signed an executive order in 2020 that threatened to ban the use of TikTok, urged the Supreme Court to let him “save” the social media platform. A nationwide TikTok ban is set to go into effect starting Jan. 19, if its Chinese parent company doesn’t sell its stake to a U.S. company.
In a 25-page filing, Trump pleaded with the justices to pause the deadline until after his Jan. 20 inauguration so that his administration can “seek a negotiated resolution,” eliminating the need for the Supreme Court to rule on the case.

In 2013, there were two high-profile Hollywood movies about terrorists invading the White House, and the brave Secret Service agents who stepped forward to protect a beleaguered President. On June 28, Roland Emmerich's excellent "White House Down" was released in theaters, and it starred Channing Tatum as the beleaguered agent, and Jamie Foxx as the president. The bad guy terrorist was played by Jason Clarke. "White House Down" also starred Maggie Gyllenhaal, Joey King, and Richard Jenkins. It was, for my money, one of the best films of 2013.
A broader audience, however, better remembers Antoine Fuqua's "Olympus Has Fallen," which beat "White House Down" to theaters by about three months. "Olympus Has Fallen" starred Gerard Butler as the beleaguered agent and Aaron Eckhart as the President. The bad guy terrorist was played by Rick Yune. When the government was on the brink of a shutdown, it was Elon Musk and not Donald Trump that stood at the center of the story. Late Night with Seth Meyers used "A Closer Look" to examine just how Musk has become the de facto leader of the Republican Party.
Musk publicly aligned himself with Donald Trump near the end of the 2024 campaign, although it didn't exactly shock anyone. What is a little more surprising is how Musk has become a highly visible figure since the election, staying at Mar-a-Lago, traveling with Trump, and apparently holding sway over the GOP.
On Thursday night, Seth Meyers highlighted how Musk seemingly influenced Republican sentiment over a bipartisan spending bill designed to avoid a government shutdown. It put pressure on Speaker of the House Mike Johnson to come up with a budget before midnight on Friday.

Since launching himself into the political stratosphere, Elon Musk has become an even bigger punchline target for late-night TV hosts. The Late Show with Stephen Colbert continued that trend on Thursday night, mocking the "president" for his involvement in a potential government shutdown.
Public opinion of Musk took a pretty big swing when he purchased Twitter, rebranded it as X, and changed many of the features users enjoyed. The Tesla CEO then decided to get heavily involved in Donald Trump's election and has become a fixture at Mar-a-Lago since Trump's victory.
Late-night TV, of course, has taken notice. Musk quickly found himself in a public feud with Jimmy Kimmel. Now, others like Stephen Colbert are finding more reasons to call out "President" Elon Musk.
During Thursday night's monologue, Colbert covered Musk's role in pushing for a government shutdown rather than passing the bipartisan funding bill put together by Speaker of the House Mike Johnson.

Joe Biden – Is Seeking Revenge On Nancy Pelosi?
According to the latest reports, President Biden is supposedly seeking his revenge on Nancy Pelosi and the rest of the coup leaders.
With Nancy stuck in the hospital recovering from a broken hip, Biden is floating the idea of banning members of Congress from trading stocks while in office.
He stated, “I think we should be changing the law that we have to abide by at the federal level—that nobody, nobody in the Congress should be able to make money in the stock market while they’re in the Congress.

Elon Musk has not been elected to any public office, but after tanking Republicans’ most recent attempt at a stopgap funding bill to avoid a shutdown, some right-wing lawmakers are entertaining the idea of installing him as speaker of the House. Democrats, by contrast, are pointing out that if the party — which claims to loathe the unelected bureaucracy — is going to let themselves be controlled by the social media posts of the world’s richest man, they may as well hand him the keys to the White House.

How Homelander's God-Complex Is "Slowly Driving Him Insane" In The Boys Season 5 Detailed By Creator
The Boys creator Eric Kripke has explained how Homelander's god-complex will be "slowly driving him insane" in season 5, and how it will impact the story. The Boys season 4 ended with Homelander (Antony Starr) getting appointed by Speaker of the House-turned-President Steven Calhoun (David Andrews) to a new Supe-led task force, with martial law declared across the US. This newfound position of power is the highest he's ever gotten, with the post-credits of the season finale showing him deciding to awaken Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles), hinting at what's next in the final season.
Now, Variety reports that, at an FYC panel hosted by SAG-AFTRA, Kripke explained how Homelander will still be dealing with his god-complex in The Boys season 5, stemming from his trauma which has now consumed him. The series creator explained how the antagonist will be wrestling with how "he wants to be a god, but he’s a man,...

Nancy Pelosi Undergoes Hip Replacement Surgery After Falling Down Marble Stairs In Luxembourg Palace
Representative Nancy Pelosi, Democrat of California, underwent hip replacement surgery today following a tumble she took while on an official trip to Luxembourg Friday.
While details were scant yesterday when the incident occurred, details emerged today, in part from Pelosi’s spokesman. The Former House Speaker, 84, was in Luxembourg as part of a congressional delegation to commemorate the 80th anniversary of WWII’s Battle of the Bulge. Pelosi reportedly fell down marble stairs at the Grand Ducal Palace, fracturing a hip.
Today, Pelosi spokesperson Ian Krager confirmed the surgery. “Earlier this morning, Speaker Emerita Pelosi underwent a successful hip replacement and is well on the mend,” Krager said in a statement to news media.
Krager also noted that Pelosi is “receiving excellent treatment from doctors and medical professionals” in Luxembourg but “looks forward to returning home to the U.S. soon.” No time frame on her return to the States was forthcoming.

Canadian businessman Kevin O’Leary aka Mr. Wonderful has been a fan-favorite on Shark Tank with his strict demeanor and blunt attitude. In this, he has always taken Vice President Kamala Harris under his radar by criticizing her schemes and policies.

In the past, he had strongly criticized her economic plans, even suggesting that he would like to take her interview to understand the scheme better. But this time, he took his criticism to a whole new level by condemning her both professionally and personally.

Lead actor Antony Starr has returned to the set in Toronto, Canada, marking the start of filming for the series that has reinvented superhero storytelling.
The show’s official social media accounts have sparked interest by posting behind-the-scenes photos of Starr in his iconic Homelander suit. In a recent interview with Variety, Starr revealed details about his character’s challenging path in the upcoming season.
“Homelander is wrestling with deep questions about mortality and legacy,” Starr told me. The character’s primary goal will be to place his son as the next leader of the Vought organization while also exploring issues of power and succession.

A viral meme from earlier this year showing before and after shots of several women in Donald Trump’s immediate orbit — RNC chair Lara Trump, Don Jr. squeeze Kimberly Guilfoyle, conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer and South Dakota governor and confessed dog killer Kristi Noem — pointed to an undeniable trend. Their faces had all, over an unspecified period, morphed from conventionally human to makeup-caked, angular cheekboned, full-lipped, Fellini-esque exaggerations of the dolled-up Fox News anchorwoman look. And it’s not just the women: Few of us can remember the content of former Florida Rep. (and former prospective attorney general) Matt Gaetz’s RNC speech last summer, so fixated were we on the new elfin arc of his eyebrows. (And the less said about George Santos and his Botox habit, the better.)
As with everything Trump, the look represents a brash departure from well-established D.C. norms. Could Trump’s return to...

Exclusive: Director Matt Tyrnauer is doing a rapid update of his new documentary Carville: Winning Is Everything, Stupid to reflect Donald Trump’s win in the presidential election. Deadline has learned the filmmaker quickly assembled a crew to shoot a new interview with the famed Democratic political consultant to include as a coda to the film.
“The election wasn’t decided when we finished the film just a few weeks ago,” Tyrnauer explains. “We now know the outcome and I felt that I wanted to put a period at the end of the sentence.”
The recut version is now streaming on Max. “There was a reshuffling of a few elements that are almost invisible,” Tyrnauer says. “Then we give the outcome the election, and then James gives what is almost like his homily — or, battle cry is maybe a better term — which is we’re an opposition party… And that...

President Biden celebrated his 82nd birthday on Wednesday, so Stephen Colbert got him a cake. Well, he tried to at least. The CBS late night host joked that Nancy Pelosi shut the idea down.
The attempted celebration came right at the top of Colbert’s monologue, as he noted that Wednesday was a big day “for a very special boy down in Washington D.C.” The moment earned a huge cheer from the audience, prompting proper wishes from the host.
“Happy Birthday Joe! We got you a cake, but Nancy Pelosi insisted you sacrifice it for the good of democracy,” he joked, holding up an empty plate with number candles on it.
Colbert also pointed out that this year would be President Biden’s last birthday in the White House, before putting on his aviators to impersonate what he figured Biden was doing all day.

As Donald Trump’s next cabinet starts to take shape, he and some of the people he’s chosen — including Rfk Jr. — posed for a photo on his plane of a team McDonald’s feast. And that really amused Seth Meyers, who called it a form of hazing for the next Hhs secretary.
As Meyers pointed out, Rfk Jr. has long bragged about only eating healthy foods, and taking great care when it comes to what he puts in his body. So there was certainly an abundance of irony in him being part of that meal, and letting there be photo evidence of it.
“I love that they essentially hazed Rfk Jr, who rails against processed food and has called fast food poison, by not only making him eat McDonald’s, but forcing him to take a picture while doing it,” Meyers said.
“I mean, look at that face,” he continued.

Washington D.C. — Standing on a stage in front of Frederick Douglass Memorial Hall on the campus of Howard University, her alma mater, Kamala Harris told a courtyard filled with her young supporters she was ending her bid for president.
“The outcome of this election is not what we wanted, not what we fought for, not what we voted for, but hear me when I say: The light of America’s promise will always burn bright,” Harris said. “As long as we never give up, and as long as we keep fighting.

Adam Schiff now holds the Senate seat that belonged to Dianne Feinstein for three decades.
Surprising no one, the Democratic longtime congressman from Hollywood easily beat Republican and former Los Angeles Dodgers great Steve Garvey tonight. The Associated Press called the race for Schiff mere seconds after the polls closed in California. The Golden State and its 54 Electoral College votes went solidly for Vice President Kamala Harris in a very close race with Donald Trump.
Seeing his seat in California’s 30th District likely going to fellow Democrat Laura Friedman over GOP contender Alex Balekian, Schiff will take over from incumbent Sen. Laphonza Butler until early next year. Butler announced not long after Gov. Gavin Newsom appointed the former Emily’s List chief in late 2023 to fill out the deceased Feinstein’s seat, that she would not seeking a full Senate term for herself. More than any election in history, the race for the White House in 2024 has seen people taking sides – and not the ones you might thing.
Just days before the Presidential election, Arnold Schwarzenegger, a well known and respected Republican, joined the ranks of the Cheneys and Bushes and endorsed Kamala Harris for President.
The actor and former Governor of California has given speeches at the Republican National Convention. Perhaps more importantly, he ran and won as a Republican during his time heading California’s executive branch.
However, Schwarzenegger is an outspoken proponent of environmental protections and of securing democracy. He has also been one of disgraced former president Donald Trump’s most vocal critics.
Considering that he represents values that are antithetical to the dominant ideology of the GOP and his endorsement of Harris, can Schwarzenegger still really call himself a Republican?

Steve Bannon, the former film producer and Trump strategist turned popular podcaster on the right, was released earlier today from federal prison after serving a four-month sentence for contempt of Congress.
Bannon was found guilty in 2022 to two counts of contempt of Congress, as he refused to comply with a subpoena issued by the January 6th Committee. After he exhausted his appeals, he reported to a federal correctional facility in Danbury, Ct in July.
After his release, Bannon gave an interview to The New York Times before taping his podcast, War Room.
“The four months in federal prison didn’t break me, it empowered me,” Bannon said on the podcast. “I am more focused and more energized than I have ever been in my entire life, and I can see clearly just like in 2016 and 2020 exactly what is going on here and what we have to do to defeat it.

Speaking to his Madison Square Garden rally this evening, Donald Trump revived his attack on Democrats as “the enemy from within,” despite efforts earlier in the day by his running mate, Jd Vance, to try to clarify what he actually meant.
“We’re running against something far bigger than Joe or Kamala, and far more powerful than them, which is a massive, vicious, crooked, radical left machine that runs today’s Democrat party,” Trump told the crowd. “They’re just vessels. In fact, they’re perfect vessels, because they’ll never give them a hard time. They’ll do whatever they want.”
Trump added, “I know many of them. It’s just this amorphous group of people, but they’re smart and they’re vicious, and we have to defeat them. And when I say the ‘enemy from within,’ the other side goes crazy…They’ve done every bad things to this country.

Jon Stewart Criticizes Media for Focusing on Trump’s Absurd Stunts Over “Enemy From Within” Rhetoric
On Monday’s Daily Show, Jon Stewart took on Donald Trump’s trending moments from the campaign trail in recent days: the former president’s staged shift at a McDonald’s and his lewd comments about former pro golfer Arnold Palmer, both in Pennsylvania. However, Stewart didn’t have the same reaction to these incidents that a number of news outlets did.
Instead, the host, calling this the “fever dream” portion of the 2024 election, criticized the media for not focusing on Trump’s dangerous rhetoric like him calling elected officials the “enemy within.”
“Kamala Harris is out there sweating the details over her new opportunity economy. Trump’s just out there farting around,” Stewart said. “That’s his whole campaign right now. ‘Ave Maria’ dance party, ‘I’m going to deport everybody,’ football tailgate, blame the Jews if I lose, McDonald’s drive-thru. He’s out there having the time of his life,...
