Clay McLeod Chapman's Wake Up And Open Your Eyes: "Noah has been losing his polite Southern parents to far-right cable news for years, so when his mother leaves him a voicemail warning him that the “Great Reawakening” is here, he assumes it’s related to one of her many conspiracy theories. But when his phone calls go unanswered, Noah makes the drive from Brooklyn to Richmond, Virginia. There, he discovers his childhood home in shambles and his parents locked in a terrifying trancelike state in front of the TV. Panicked, Noah attempts to snap them out of it.
Then Noah’s mother brutally attacks him.
But Noah isn’t the only person to be attacked by a loved one. Families across the country are tearing each other apart—literally—as people succumb to a form of possession that gets worse the more time they spend glued to a screen.

Final Destination 6 is aiming for a 2025 theatrical release (IMAX screens included) – and next year we might also get a new movie from original Final Destination screenwriter Jeffrey Reddick, as Deadline reports that Reddick is teaming up with Convoke Media, Vast Entertainment, DreamPunk Entertainment, and Emmy-winning director Lane Shefter Bishop (The Venice Murders) to get a film called Bloody Mary: Origins into production.
Based on the novel Mary: The Summoning by Hillary Monahan, Bloody Mary: Origins was scripted by Reddick and John Stancari – who, sadly, passed away in 2018 after a long battle with cancer. This is Stancari’s first produced film and will be dedicated to his memory. The story follows a group of teenage girls who discover an ancient spell that conjures the real Bloody Mary. When the terrifying entity pulls one of the girls through the mirror, she becomes trapped in the past, living out the real Mary Worth’s last days.

Ghost hunters will find more than they bargained for on Halloween in upcoming genre-bender The Unearthly. Per Deadline, the indie sci-fi horror comedy has found its lead in star and producer Patrick Warburton.
Josh Sternfeld (Fortress: Sniper’s Eye) is set to direct The Unearthly for Centerboro Productions, with production scheduled to begin early this year in Connecticut.
In The Unearthly, “a team of paranormal investigators live-stream a ‘Halloween Special’ ghost hunt of a notorious haunted mansion, finding the source of the evil at hand to be far more deadly than they ever could have imagined. Warburton plays Tank McCrary, an old school paranormal investigator in the style of Ed Warren and Peter James, who hosted over 20 live television specials in the ’90s before an incident ruined his career. Stubborn and egotistical, he likes to do things his way. He doesn’t trust technology, relying on his analog tape recorder,...

Almost exactly one year after Kevin Smith sold his horror anthology Killroy Was Here as an Nft (with the Ashley Benson slasher Alone at Night following in his footsteps soon after), Variety reports that XYZ Films has picked up the domestic distribution rights to another film that blends horror with crypto. Thankfully, this one isn’t being sold as an Nft, it will be heading out into the world in a more traditional way. The new movie is called The Deep Web: Murdershow and it will take viewers on a dark ride when a journalist’s search for clues to his sister’s murder leads him to a disturbing crypto currency torture website inside the deep web called The Murdershow. As those close to him disappear, he must find and stop this reign of terror.
