Cassandra Han is an American casting director living in Europe since 2003. She casts extensively for German and Italian-language projects, with native speakers of both languages on her team, as well as bringing US/UK actors onto European productions.
Based in Munich with an office in Italy, recent credits include SAMIA by Yasemin Samdereli, which was shot entirely in Somali and cast from the global diaspora; it won a Special Jury Mention at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival and the Audience Award at the 2024 Munich Film Festival.
Other projects include the sequel to Germany's successful 2011 film THE PHYSICIAN for Zeitsprung (Constantin, Amazon, BETA, ZDF) and an eight-part Israeli series by YES Studios and Lionsgate, for which she cast German roles.
Further credits include Netflix's upcoming German/Turkish RomCom entitled SHE SAID YES, two feature film installments of Germany's popular franchise DIE DREI FRAGEZEICHEN for Wiedemann & Berg/Sony as well as the six-part Paramount+ series ONE TRILLION DOLLARS, for which she cast German, Italian, English, Scandinavian and French actors.
Casting Italy credits include James Mangold's Oscar-winning FORD VS FERRARI, Terrence Malick's A HIDDEN LIFE (2019 Cannes) and two seasons of Gaumont's hit Netflix series BARBARIANS.
Her UK casting credits include the upcoming Italian series MISS FALLACI for Paramount Plus series STORIA DELLA MIA FAMIGLIA for Netflix, the event series EIN HAUCH VON AMERIKA for German network TV and the Indian animated feature SCHIRKOA: IN LIES WE TRUST, which premiered at the Rotterdam International Film Festival in 2024.
Cassandra's art house work includes German auteur Oskar Roehler's BAD DIRECTOR and his upcoming ABSEITS, as well as US casting for the Latvian/Italian SISTERS, which won Best Film at the Warsaw International Film Festival. She also worked on two feature films for Akson, Poland's preeminent studio: FILIP (Netflix), for which she was nominated together with Marta Kownacka for a casting award, and the upcoming CHOPIN, CHOPIN! (StudioCanal).
President of the Global Chapter of Casting Society (CSA), Cassandra is a board member of the International Casting Directors Association (ICDA), a founding member of the Italian chapter of Women in Film and a member of the German and European Film Academies. She served as a Jury member for European Film Promotion's 2021 Shooting Stars at the Berlinale and the 2023 Tallinn Black Nights Stars.
A founding member of Ethan Hawke's NY theater company Malaparte back in the 1990s, Cassandra holds an MFA in acting from Trinity Rep and a BA from the University of Pennsylvania. Her father is a Chinese immigrant and her mother was from Appalachia.
