It's a time of change for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. What started as a huge and expansive project in the Multiverse Saga has led to more, unexpected change, as Marvel Studios has had to consider which of its newer titles were worth investing in based on some negative fan response and poor showings on their respective platforms. This is Marvel we are talking about, so they are still in a very good place, but it has taken a number of blows that it hadn't before, leading to some creative decisions being made about its future.
The long-awaited Secret Invasion received an overwhelmingly negative response from just about anyone who watched it (even the most devoted of fans weren't happy about certain creative choices) and other projects that received something of a lukewarm response may or may not return for future outings.
The good news is that things are on the...

Jennifer Walters, aka She-Hulk, used to have a prominent position on the right-hand side of Disney+'s Marvel Cinematic Universe hub banner, but she has now been replaced by Deadpool.
This probably doesn't mean very much: With Deadpool and Wolverine now streaming, Marvel clearly wanted the Merc With a Mouth on the banner, and decided to switch him out with the other character known for breaking the fourth wall.
Of course, there are other theories doing the rounds!
Last year, during the Hollywood strikes, Disney's Bob Iger called the writers and actors' decision to strike "very disturbing," and asked their respective unions to "be realistic" with their demands. Several high-profile actors put the exec on blast, and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law star Tatiana Maslany shared a blunt rebuttal of her own.
"I think he’s completely out of touch," she told THR from the picket lines in New York City.

Well it was fun while it lasted. At least that's what one major Marvel character might be thinking when contemplating their apparent future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The MCU is a well-oiled machine of a franchise, known for turning lesser-known comic book characters into global phenomenons. Look no further than the Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, and Captain Marvel; all of whom became franchise headliners thanks to solo movies that launched their cinematic careers.
However, in recent years, that hasn't worked out quite as successfully for the Marvel Studios franchise, as a number of characters in its Multiverse Saga haven't resonated as well with audiences. And that unfortunately might be down to the fact that there were just too many titles to keep up with.
Now, it sounds like that could have had major repercussions on the future of one character in particular.

Jim Carrey is one of the biggest working movie stars with decades of celebrated and successful projects, and he has the large net worth to go along with that career. Getting his start in the early 1980s with some small TV and movie roles, Jim Carrey really came to wider attention with In Living Color. From there, Carrey went on to become one of the most successful comedy movie stars of the 1990s with incredible performances in Ace Ventura, Dumb and Dumber, and much more. In the 2000s, Carrey entered a more dramatic portion of his career.
These new Jim Carrey movies saw the actor exploring darker and more psychological aspects of the world. It was an exploration that spilled over into his real life, as seen in the documentary Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond. His life was also rocked by the passing of his girlfriend, Cathriona White, who...

James Cameron has broken records and changed the game in the movie industry. His movies like Titanic and Avatar revolutionized the industry and set new box office records, earning billions. True Lies had a groundbreaking budget of $100 million in 1994, showing how movie budgets have skyrocketed since then.
Director James Cameron has broken various records throughout his filmmaking career, yet one such accomplishment doesn't seem quite as impressive 30 years later. Cameron kickstarted his movie career in 1982 when he directed Piranha II: The Spawning. Though the movie was horribly received, Cameron's success was yet to come. One of the greatest filmmakers of all time, Cameron has directed some of the most influential films of the last 40 years. And yet, between all the Avatar sequels, Cameron will most likely continue breaking records, particularly at the box office.
James Cameron's movies have not just been blockbuster hits. They have changed the game when it comes to the box office.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe TV series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law debuted on the Disney+ streaming service in August of 2022, wrapping up its nine episode run that October. The door was left wide open for further She-Hulk adventures, but earlier this year, star Tatiana Maslany said she didn’t think there would be a second season because they “blew their budget.” But Maslany is an expert at the secrecy game, having spread misinformation about the show before it aired and even flat-out denying that she had been cast when news of her involvement first leaked online, so we can’t take her word on these things. Looking to find out whether or not there will be a She-Hulk: Attorney at Law season 2, ComicBook.com turned to the show’s executive producer Wendy Jacobson. She couldn’t say for sure, but she did share ideas on how they could approach the material if...

Hollywood’s favorite quipster, Jim Carrey, might be a cherished actor, but it turns out he’s also a ladies’ man, especially when it comes to high-profile actresses in the industry.

“She-Hulk: Attorney at Law” marked a turning point for many fans. While critics praised the show, fans largely panned it, citing issues with the story and overall feel.
The show stood out for several reasons. It never attempted to be anything other than light-hearted feminist fun. However, this approach came at a high cost, making it the most expensive project per episode to date, which significantly reduces the likelihood of a second season. Additionally, Tatiana Maslany’s comments criticizing CEO Bob Iger during the months-long SAG-AFTRA strike, where he deemed the actors’ union’s wage demands “unrealistic,” further complicate the show’s future prospects.
However, special effects and Maslany’s performance were the least of the show’s concerns, at least according to fans. One scene in particular drew intense criticism and significantly impacted the show’s ratings: the office twerking scene featuring Maslany’s She-Hulk and Ginger Gonzaga’s Nikki Ramos.

‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’ was for many fans “where the end began.” The show was notably praised by critics and panned by fans as these things usually go, with little thought given to the story, and the overall feel of the show.
The show was special for several reasons, at no point did it try to present itself as anything other than light-hearted feminist fun. However, that plan for the show went at a steep price, as it was the most expensive project per episode to date. This obviously makes the chances of a second season even slimmer. Maslany’s comments that Iger is out of touch with reality, when multi-millionaire CEO had, during the months-long SAG-AFTRA strike that ground Hollywood to a halt, called the actors’ union’s demands for a fairer wage “unrealistic,” don’t help the odds as well.

[Warning: The following contains Major spoilers for the two-part True Lies Season 1 finale, “Lying Truths” and “Waking Dreams.”] Following its May 9 cancellation, the Steve Howey and Ginger Gonzaga-led True Lies came to an end with a two-part series finale on Wednesday, May 17 on CBS. Unfortunately, the series wasn’t planning for the Season 1 finale to be its last, as indicated by its cliffhanger ending. The finale was one scene short of ending on a positive, drama-free note. In the first part of the finale, “Lying Truths,” a van full of computer software containing confidential intel about Omega Sector operatives was hijacked, leading the team to enlist the help of teen hacker Max to figure out who was coordinating the attack. When Harry (Howey) and Helen Tasker (Gonzaga) discovered that Max is dating their daughter, Dana (Annabella Didion), their actions put the mission in jeopardy. Amid the chaos, Helen had to admit to Dana that she and Harry were spies.

"True Lies" may have been a big success for director James Cameron in 1994 as a movie, but it didn't translate quite as well on the small screen. To that end, the CBS TV series of the same name based on Cameron's blockbuster film has been canceled after just one season. "True Lies" season 2 will not be happening, and that means the season finale on May 17 will now serve as the series finale.
According to The Wrap, CBS decided to cancel both "East New York" and "True Lies" after a single season. The short runs were certainly not what CBS had in mind — it illustrates the difficulties that major networks are having in building an audience for a new show as cord-cutting accelerates and streaming continues to dominate. Similarly, CBS initially canceled "S.W.A.T." after six seasons, but then reversed course a day later and picked it up for a seventh and final season.

After reversing its decision to cancel Swat season 7, CBS has ended two more shows. The network has been the subject of attention in recent days due to the changing saga of Swat. Initially, on May 5, the action drama was canceled not because of its ratings but because the series is a co-production between CBS and Sony at a time when networks desire complete ownership of their properties. After the decision was heavily criticized by fans and star Shemar Moore, CBS reserved its decision. On May 8, it was confirmed that Swat season 7 was uncanceled and would serve as the show's swan song.

Not all the news coming out of CBS today is good news: After reversing its decision to cancel S.W.A.T., the Eye network has cancelled freshman dramas East New York and True Lies, TVLine has learned.
East New York starred Amanda Warren as Deputy Inspector Regina Haywood, who ran a police station in a working-class Brooklyn neighborhood. CBS has canceled both the police procedural “East New York” and “True Lies” after just one season.
According to sources, the decision to cancel the series came down to CBS haggling with the series’ studio Warner Bros. Television over the show’s budget, which included CBS asking that the cast of the show not get the customary pay increases going into the second season. It has previously been reported that CBS has renewed other shows on its lineup, like the comedy “Bob Hearts Abishola,” after asking the cast to take pay cuts or by shifting series regulars to recurring status.

There will be no second season for CBS’ True Lies. The network has canceled the reboot of James Cameron’s hit 1994 action comedy movie after one season. The news comes ahead of the show’s Season 1 finale on May 17.
The decision is not surprising. True Lies has not been able to find an audience, ranking as CBS’ lowest-rated scripted series of the season. Its ratings remained relatively steady, indicating a loyal core audience, but they stayed low.

CBS’ 2023-24 season is starting to come into focus.
The network has opted to cancel its last two remaining bubble shows, True Lies and East New York, both of which ran a single season. True Lies, a reboot of the film of the same name, will air its series finale May 17, while procedural East New York will wrap May 14.
Reps for CBS declined comment.
The decisions come as CBS is poised to announce series orders for the upcoming 2023-24 broadcast season on Tuesday, with its fall schedule set to be announced Wednesday. For the first time in recent memory, CBS and parent company Paramount Global backed out of its traditional upfront presentation to Madison Avenue ad buyers with that slot now occupied by Netflix.

“It had everything to do with it,” admits Emmy winner Tatiana Maslany (“Orphan Black”), about the main reason why she wanted to star in “She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.” Portraying Jennifer Walters on the show meant she could upend expectations by giving voice to a woman in her 30s awkwardly navigating her career and personal life, who just so happens to also be a superhero in her spare time. “When I read the first script,” she explains, “it was so funny, so human and so irreverent of any expectations of what a superhero is. Steve Howey and Ginger Gonzaga are taking on Harry and Helen from the 1994 blockbuster movie True Lies. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis originally played these characters. It was a high-action thriller with an iconic Jamie Lee Curtis strip tease scene. It gave the audience everything they wanted.
Despite the True Lies movie’s problems, it was a sexy film. Even back then, audiences wanted great chemistry on screen. Fans want couples to root for. Riverdale may have become overly bizarre, but fans continue to tune in to root for their favorite couples. Bones was also a procedural, but everyone wanted to know when Brennan and Booth would get together. Chicago One fans also have their favorite ships. It’s a needed component for a show.

Warning: spoilers from True Lies season 1, episode 4 ahead! Matthew Lillard guest starred on True Lies, and he may be just what the show needs to get a second season. The CBS series shares the same name as the 1994 Blockbuster hit starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis, but other than the pilot, and some character names, it’s pretty different from the movie. For example, Harry and Helen start going on missions in the credit scene in the film, but the series gets to that point in the first episode and becomes a spy procedural. In addition, the True Lies show fixes many of the movie's problems.
The promo for True Lies featured Scream actor Matthew Lillard, so everyone knew this was coming. Besides Scream, Lillard has also been in the Scooby-Doo films, Hackers and She’s All That. While his bigger movies were in the 90s and early 2000s, he...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for True Lies Episode 4, “Rival Companions.”] Did Helen (Ginger Gonzaga) befriending a merciless assassin working with Omega in the latest episode of True Lies just save her husband Harry’s (Steve Howey) life? Matthew Lillard guest stars in “Rival Companions” as The Wolf, said assassin, but Helen meets and gets to know him as Nathan … and when she finds out what he does, she doesn’t exactly share Harry’s concerns. Rather, she reminds Nathan that he has a good heart and hopes he remembers that as he’s about to have Harry’s back during a mission. Harry, meanwhile, is worried about The Wolf being behind him since the assassin’s thing is shooting people in the back of the head. He thought about killing him, The Wolf admits, but then he heard those nice words from Helen. Besides, if he wanted to kill him, he continues, Harry would never see it coming.

If the first word that comes to mind when you think of Matthew Lillard guest starring on True Lies as a merciless contract assassin is “fun,” you’d be right. That’s exactly what the March 22 episode of the CBS drama brings. Lillard’s character comes in when the Omega Sector team must seek out his help after an international catastrophe occurs on live TV. “He’s a hoot,” Lillard tells TV Insider of The Wolf. Such is definitely the case when it comes to his interactions with everyone, especially Harry (Steve Howey) and Helen (Ginger Gonzaga). Below, he shares more about the guest spot. What did you initially know about The Wolf before you got the script? Matthew Lillard: I’m certainly familiar with True Lies, the movie. I was the fan of it back in, I guess, the ’90s. And then I am friends with Matt Nix, who’s the showrunner.
