Kit Williamson’s new scripted half-hour comedy series “Unconventional” has been acquired by LGBTQ streaming network Revry.
Williamson, a six-time Emmy nominee best known as the creator and star of “Eastsiders,” stars in “Unconventional” as Noah Guillory, a queer millennial struggling with his 10-year marriage, possibly starting a family, and the future of his PhD program while also acting as the sperm donor to his sister Margot’s wife, Eliza.
The nine-episode season – each episode follows a month of Eliza’s pregnancy — will premiere on Revry on Feb. 11.
“‘Unconventional’ comes at a time where stories about marginalized communities are more important than ever and ‘Unconventional’ is an unapologetically queer show,” Williamson said Thursday. “Unfortunately, LGBTQ representation has diminished considerably since ‘Eastsiders’ ended, and mainstream depictions often shy away from the complex realities of queer love. Revry is the perfect home for the series and I couldn’t be more excited about the acquisition.

It was only a matter of time before someone named a horror movie after FrightFest. Unfortunately, this dismal effort (also known as American Fright Fest) from director Anton Novakovic isn’t worthy of the festival that bears its name. In fact, it’s so bad that it makes the similarly themed, similarly titled and similarly not very good Blood Fest (also released this year) look like a masterpiece by comparison.

Merry Christmas! As you open your presents, a really terrific film is also opening today, in theaters. It’s Molly’s Game, the directorial debut of ace scribe Aaron Sorkin. Long considered one of the best writers in Hollywood, he’s moved behind the camera to direct this drama, becoming a full fledged filmmaker. Sorkin makes a terrific debut here too, showing he’s just a strong a director, which is exciting to consider when thinking about his future. Now out in theaters, it’s potentially an awards player too. If that doesn’t scream must see, I don’t know what does. This is a flick not to miss, ladies and gentlemen. The film is a biopic of Molly Bloom (Jessica Chastain), a former Olympic quality skier who ended up running some of the most notorious poker games in the country. In adapting her memoir, the movie showcases Molly...

Peter Kraus won’t be finding his forever love on the upcoming season of The Bachelor, but there’s a possibility he could in the future.
On Thursday, Bachelor Nation was shocked to learn that Kraus — the runner-up on Rachel Lindsay‘s season 13 of The Bachelorette — wouldn’t be the franchise’s new leading man and that fellow Bachelorette alum Arie Luyendyk Jr. was selected instead.
But before Luyendyk Jr. was officially chosen, 31-year-old Kraus was one of the contenders that were in the running for the coveted position of Bachelor.
“Peter was absolutely in discussion. He sort of alluded to that as well.

Peter Kraus is “overcome with emotion” after learning his Bachelor journey is over before it even began.
Early Thursday, Good Morning America announced that Arie Luyendyk Jr. will be the season 22 Bachelor, sending shockwaves through Bachelor fans who hoped that season 13 Bachelorette runner-up Kraus would be ABC’s next leading man.
Hours after the reveal, Kraus broke his silence on Instagram where he thanked Rachel Lindsay and the network for the opportunity of a “lifetime” — and also shared the important lesson he learned from the process.
“#tbt to the most incredible journey of this life time that has now officially come to an end today.

After a short tease posted by none other than star Jessica Chastain herself on Twitter yesterday, we now have the Trailer for Molly’s Game. This drama marks the directorial debut of screenwriter Aaron Sorkin. The pairing of these two seemed like it would create real sparks, and judging by this Trailer, that is certainly the case. You’ll be able to check it out at the bottom of this piece (you must know the drill by now), but before that, we need to discuss the film a bit. This could be a real big Oscar player when all is said and done in 2017… The movie is an adaptation of Molly Bloom’s memoir. It’s described thusly: “The true story of an Olympic-class skier who ran the world’s most exclusive high-stakes poker game and became an FBI target. Her players included movie stars, business titans and unbeknownst to her,...

Did it have the misfortune of opening when American moviegoers were flocking to E.T.? Either way, when John Carpenter's The Thing landed in the summer of 1982, with an apocalyptic cliffhanger and the most surreally grotesque, tactile, gooey monster effects you never realized could be put on film, it fizzled. "It was hated," Carpenter later recalled at a screening in Los Angeles. "Hated by fans. I lost a job. People hated me. Late in the second season premiere of the outstanding Lifetime drama UnREAL, Rachel (Shiri Appleby), a top producer on Everlasting, the Bachelor-esque show-within-the-show, bullies naive young subordinate Madison (Genevieve Buechner) into behaving despicably with one of the Everlasting contestants, all for the sake of a sound byte they can put into a promo. As a tearful Madison struggles with her terrible assigned task, Rachel begins playing Cyrano into her earpiece, controlling one woman in order to manipulate another. Asked later how it felt, Rachel — who, in UnREAL's first season, was presented as a reluctant, if talented, piece of the Everlasting machinery — smiles and replies, "Are you kidding? I feel like God." And when she and Madison next interact, it's not so the younger woman can scold her or quit this awful job, but so she can ask Rachel to teach her how to feel like God herself. This is UnREAL,...

Two episodes were provided prior to broadcast.
Last year, I came away impressed with Lifetime’s dark new drama series UnREAL – far more than I ever expected to be going into a show that centered around the backstage drama of a fictional reality dating show called Everlasting. The debut season was searing and satisfying, but it took depth and finesse – both of which UnREAL has in spades – to eventually become what the opening hours teased; to become what I hoped it would after viewing the first three episodes: something truly special.
UnREAL season 2 is the fine-tuned realization of every one of my hopes last year. Co-creators Marti Noxon and Sarah Gertrude Shapiro don’t miss a beat in transition, bobbing and weaving through every potential upset presented in the show’s premise with a ferocious energy. The caged-beast anger makes sense, too: Shapiro was a producer on The Bachelor for nine seasons,...

Jeanne Parr may be recognized nowadays for being The Good Wife and Sex and the City actor Chris Noth's mother, but the 92-year-old who died last Friday made a name for herself decades ago as a trailblazing journalist, model, author, and so much more. After modeling and working on local news stations, the Madison, Wisconsin-native became one of the first female news correspondents for CBS. And it all started with a blooper. While doing the weather on a local news station in New Haven, Connecticut, Parr couldn't find the state of Arkansas on a map, according to Wisconsin State Journal.

Loaded with eye-popping action sequences, cheeky humor and unexpected sweetness, the premiere of Preacher, based on the comic book series by Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon, suggests that AMC’s supernatural dramedy just might turn out to be the best new show of the year. But we can debate that after you’ve worked your way through this recap and its reminders of how appealingly badass Dominic Cooper and Ruth Negga were as the titular preacher, Jesse Custer, and his combustible old flame, Tulip O’Hare.

Spoiler Alert: President John F. Kennedy died on November 22, 1963 and nothing Stephen King can write will ever change that. Oh maybe he’ll change it for a little while, but it will change right back if you ever come out of the closet. That’s the basic premise of Hulu’s miniseries on the best-selling 2011 Stephen King novel 11/22/63.
“If you do something that really fucks with the past, the past fucks with you,” Warns diner owner Al Templeton, played by Chris Cooper, to his casual friend, the local high school English teacher Jake Epping, played by James Franco. Templeton has a tendency to age in spurts, not the regular acceleration of ageing that comes when the body ages, but in three-year-spurts that happen in about two minutes.

The X Factor reaches the Judges' Houses stage of the competition this weekend, and the Groups were lucky enough to head to Rome to perform for their mentor Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and special guest judge Jess Glynne. If nothing else, it was a chance for them to get to grips with their new names:
1. 4th Impact
Formerly: 4th Power
Who are they? Mylene (23), Irene (25), Almira (27) and Celina (19) grew up singing and dancing together.
Their journey: 4th Impact - who travelled from the Philippines to audition - have been wowing the judges since their astonishing first audition, in which they covered 'Bang Bang'.
They say: "We are very fierce, energetic, powerful performers with angelic harmonies."
2. Alien Uncovered
Formerly: Alien
Who are they? Madison (19), Natalie (18), Temple (24), Frank (17), Yaz (23) and Shae (23) have been together for 18 months.

If you’re British and you suffer from a serious series addition, then you probably know every Netflix TV show from pilot to finale. Breaking Bad was amazing while it lasted, and Better Call Saul has stood on its own two feet so far. Netflix originals House of Cards and Orange is The New Black have definitely been binge-worthy. Fargo, Arrested Development, Daredevil; there are lots of great shows only a swipe and a click away, but what happens when the Netflix tank runs dry?
It will no doubt rile you to find out just how many great series there are on Netflix that you cannot access because of your region. The Us version of the service has many, many TV shows that those using Netflix in the UK can’t see, some of them British made, and most of them really good.

Cheryl Fernandez-Versini seemed very happy on The X Factor tonight after choosing her final six groups. She's certainly got a lot of variety with her acts, but who made it through?
1. 4th Power
Who? Mylene, Celina, Irene and Almira Cercado (19-27)
Remind me: These sisters from the Philippines blew everyone away with their outstanding performance of 'Bang Bang' in the auditions, with some insane notes and slick choreography. Sweet off stage and full of fire on it, they've been a dead cert for Judges' Houses ever since, keeping up their powerhouse performances at Boot Camp and the Six Chair Challenge. But because of copyright issues, expect them to be known from now on as 4th Impact.
2. Alien
Who? Madison Matic (19), Temple Angus (24), Shae Barry (23), Natalie Kassanga (18), Yasmin Crotch (22), Frank Arens (17)
Remind me: Alien are definitely not your typical girl band. They burst onto the auditions stage with a performance of 'Pump It',...

Forget your $250 million budgets and A-list megastars, sometimes all you need to make a good film is a bit of creative thinking and passion for your characters (intellectual property rights optional).
With feature-length fan film Star Trek: Renegades setting fandom abuzz, here's a host of unauthorised movies that put Hollywood to shame.
1. Batman battles Predator
Back in the Dark Knight's movie wilderness years (thanks for that, George Clooney!), short Batman: Dead End made waves online thanks to a mega-twist that saw the Caped Crusader in a rain-soaked showdown against a Predator. If it bleeds, Batman can kill it.
2. A Judge gets back in the saddle
A tepid box office showing from 2012's Dredd means a sequel is probably never going to happen. However, hardcore fans had their thirst quenched by the moody Judge Minty, about an ageing Mega City One Judge striding through the Cursed Earth. Think of this as...

So when you're three of the stars of one of TV's most anticipated but also incredibly hush-hush new series and you're gathered to talk about the series no one's seen without giving away any of its treasured secrets and plots twists, exactly what do you talk about?

As chaos spreads across Los Angeles in "Fear the Walking Dead," a high school guidance counselor invites one of her students to stay with her family until this all blows over. The kid, though, knows an apocalypse when he sees one. "This doesn't end," he tells her. As a spin-off of TV's highest-rated drama, "Fear the Walking Dead" (it debuts Sunday at 9 p.m. on AMC) isn't about to bring an end to the lucrative zombie nightmare. Instead, it's designed to go back to the beginning of it, both to cover some material that the parent show skipped over and to try to correct some mistakes that the original is still trying to work around after five hugely successful seasons. "The Walking Dead" was designed as Rick Grimes' story, and because Rick was in a coma at the time the zombies began to rise, that show (and the Robert Kirkman...

Though it will take place in the early days of the zombie uprising, Fear The Walking Dead will focus on the living more than the dead, and Robert Kirkman recently discussed the show's core characters, including several who are shown in new photos.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly's Dalton Ross, Kirkman discussed the background of Madison, the series' widowed mother of two (Kim Dickens):
"Madison is a character whose husband died. And she’s been raising her kids on her own, so she’s a character that has experienced a very abrupt change to her life that she has had to adapt to."
Kirkman also talked about Madison's kids, Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey) and Nick (Frank Dillane), who are complete opposites:
"Alicia is your atypical teenage girl. She excels at school. She’s on her way to college... She’s kind of the model student and the model child.
