With a new year comes a fresh slate of HBO shows, from long-anticipated returning favorites like “The White Lotus” and “The Last of Us” to new series, from Noah Wyle’s next medical drama to Rachel Sennott’s comedy show.

At the beginning of 2025, HBO will debut “The Pitt,” which centers on a Pittsburgh hospital, while Mike White’s anthology series returns with a new group of tourists in Thailand and one familiar face with “The White Lotus” Season 3. The rest of the year is jam-packed with highly anticipated series, including “The Last of Us” Season 2, “It: Welcome to Derry,” “Game of Thrones” spinoff series “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” “Peacemaker” Season 2 and “Hacks” Season 4, among many others.

One notable series that won’t make it to HBO in 2025 is “Euphoria” Season 3, which is now slated for a 2026 release after delays pushed production to begin in January 2025.

HBO in November 2022 announced a third season for The White Lotus, which will bring a new installment of the Mike White-created anthology series to screens.

The first installment, which premiered July 2021 and was set in Hawaii, was nominated for 20 Emmy Awards and won a leading 10, including for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. Season 2, set in Sicily, debuted October 30, 2022 and won five Emmys, including a repeat for Jennifer Coolidge.

HBO’s set a February 16, 2025 premiere date for season three of the award-winning drama The White Lotus. The upcoming eight-episode season takes place in Thailand, with new episodes of the critically acclaimed series airing on Sundays at 9pm Et/Pt.

Besides announcing the premiere date, HBO dropped a short teaser and new photos from season three.

We knew it was coming in February and now we have a specific date. The third season of The White Lotus, set in Thailand, will premiere Feb. 16 on HBO and will be available to stream on Max. We’re getting a look at the upcoming season in a just-released trailer, which you can see below.

The highly anticipated return of Mike White’s HBO drama series has been revealed with the first trailer. The Thailand-set season will release starting Feb. 16 at 9 p.m. on HBO, available to stream on Max.

Prepare for more luxurious chaos, because the first trailer for “The White Lotus” Season 3 has arrived. The upcoming installment will premiere on HBO February 16, and this time around, all of the intrigue, drama and privileged complaining is happening in Thailand.

One of the first characters highlighted in this initial look isn’t a guest, but Natasha Rothwell’s hardworking masseuse, Belinda, who is at this resort as part of an exchange program. “I’m starting to feel like something good is going to come out of this,” Belinda says in the teaser.

When Joni was 14, her best friend Gracie Darling disappeared during a séance. Some 27 years on, the local kids in a small town get their kicks with a game of ‘Playing Gracie Darling’ – but the seemingly innocent game turns sinister when another girl disappears. Aubrey Plaza starred in The White Lotus Season 2, but the star has not seen herself in the series almost two years after it aired on HBO.

Due to technical difficulties, the Parks and Recreation alum says she hasn’t seen the Mike White-created series.

“I still haven’t, but I’m going to,” Plaza said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. “To be honest, I had trouble opening my HBO Max account when I was trying to watch it originally. I couldn’t figure out the password and I usually just give up when I can’t figure out the passwords. I just can’t handle things like that.”

In the latest episode of the Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend podcast, the comedian said he encountered series creator Mike White while in Bangkok.

“Before you guys started shooting The White Lotus, I ran into none other than Mike White in a restaurant,” O’Brien said on the August 19th episode with Walter Goggins as a guest. “I said, ‘Hey, so the next season of The White Lotus, you’re going down to Thailand, right?’ And he said, ‘Yeah.’ And I said, ‘I was there. I had a great time. I made a lot of friends.’”

Review: I’m not sure what it is about films from New Zealand but they always impress. You could point to the wonderful geography, which adds so much to the look of the film. Or maybe it’s the talent both in front of and behind the camera. And Bookworm certainly isn’t lacking in either. Like Hunt For the Wilderpeople, this takes a whimsical approach that’s just as heartfelt as it is funny. While it’s certainly magical, everything is grounded and hardly ever crosses over into the absurd. And it’s really not afraid to go to dark places.

Described as an “adventure comedy”, the film is produced by Emma Slade (Come to Daddy), Roxi Bull (Uproar), and Victoria Dabbs (Malevolent) of Firefly Films New Zealand and Mette-Marie Kongsved (I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore), Laura Tunstall (Nine Days) of Nowhere.

Leo Woodall won’t forget his time on set of The White Lotus season two anytime soon. The actor said this week his experience on the show felt like “one big holiday.”

“It was one of those shows where, because there were so many characters and so many storylines, there were so many days off,” Woodall told People, adding that the free time meant he and his co-stars spent a lot of time vacationing together.

Woodall played Jack in The White Lotus season two, a British boy who flirted with Haley Lu Richardson’s Portia and assisted his non-biological uncle Quentin (Tom Hollander) in a plan to murder Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya. The second season of Mike White’s anthology show took place at a resort in Sicily, where the cast lived for several weeks during filming in 2022.

“It does feel like a world away now,” Woodall said of his time in Italy.

Kostov (Shadow and Bone) will recur in the show’s third season, which is set to begin filming in Thailand this month.
