Sony Pictures Entertainment has been a key sponsor and host of Edfc for six years.
A loop group is a group of actors involved in recording audio for edited programming during post-production. Loop groups provide background noise and audio clips that enrich the soundscape and lend a sense of authenticity in films, TV shows, video games and commercials.
The initiative follows the casting of Edfc founder and director Nic Novicki as Lego Spider-Man and longtime Film Challenge participant Danielle Perez as Sun-Spider in Columbia Pictures/Sony Pictures Animation’s Oscar-nominated Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. Indie comics publisher Vault Comics is tackling an adaptation of The Roach, a novel from ebook and audiobook publisher Aethon.
The graphic novel adaptation of the novel is part of a partnership that the two companies inked last year. Aethon is to publish ebook and audiobook versions of select Vault titles, while the Montana-based publisher will give the comics treatment to select Aethon titles.
Roach had a leg (or six) up on the process, as the novel was written by Rhett C. Bruno, Aethon’s CEO.
But the book was no mere vanity project. The story of a vigilante hero permanently disabled in a gunfight, who finds himself once again called upon to protect his city, Roach received multiple awards including the 2020 Independent Audiobook Award Winner for best thriller/suspense and the 2020 Best Indie Book Award for action/adventure. Sunrise Movie Review Rating:
Star Cast: Alex Pettyfer, Crystal Yu, William Gao, Kurt Yaeger, Olwen Fouéré, Guy Pearce
Director: Andrew Baird
Sunrise Movie Review Out ( Photo Credit – Lionsgate Movies / YouTube )
What’s Good: Guy Pearce’s sharp performance as the detestable Joe Reynolds stands out, capturing the essence of a villain with racist ideologies and a sense of entitlement. The film occasionally succeeds in capturing the gritty essence reminiscent of top-tier vampire films, exploring the terrifying aspects of racism and violence.
What’s Bad: “Sunrise” grapples with generic dialogue, a lack of character depth, and an inconsistent exploration of its intriguing concepts. The film’s attempt to fuse a vampire story with themes of American racism feels awkward and lacks nuance. The narrative meanders through various genres, resulting in a slow and disorganized amalgamation of ideas.

Scottie Thompson is just one of the many actors to have played iconic characters in the police procedural classic NCIS. Starting out from a few episodes of Jag, NCIS has cemented its legacy with 20 seasons and more than 400 episodes. The show’s spinoffs like NCIS: Los Angeles and NCIS: Hawaiʻi managed to successfully capitalize on its popularity with a dedicated fan following. Given its voluminous episode count, some of the actors managed to end up with different roles across the numerous spinoffs. In fact, Kurt Yaeger holds the distinction as an actor who appeared on four NCIS shows as completely different characters.
While Yaeger’s feat is still unique, many other actors have followed his footsteps in playing multiple characters. While many of these actors made single-episode appearances as guest stars, Scottie Thompson has a different case. Thompson started out with a recurring role in NCIS’ season 3 and season...

"Have you considered poisoning him?" "Countless times..." Apple has revealed the first look official trailer for a new movie called The Beanie Bubble, a fictional story about the crazy guy who created the world-famous Beanie Babies plush toy line and turned them into a hugely profitable worldwide you-gotta-have-them trend. They're making more and more movies like this nowadays because these guys are totally nuts and they don't deserve this money for tricking people into buying stuffed animals, and they got away with it anyway. But I'm not supposed to say this, right? "Capitalism, dial-up Internet, and bean-filled plush animals" in The Beanie Bubble. Zach Galifianakis stars as Ty Warner, with Elizabeth Banks, Sarah Snook, Geraldine Viswanathan, Kurt Yaeger, plus Madison Johnson. This looks crazy good! Reminds me of I, Tonya or Bad Education, but uh for the Beanie Babies guy instead. // Continue Reading ›...

A casting executive details how one actor ended up on all four NCIS shows, playing a completely different character each time. In the realm of long-running TV procedurals, it can be a matter of convenience and necessity to occasionally rely on the same actors to fill bit parts. Emmy winner Camryn Manheim appeared on the original Law & Order as three different characters, for example, before she joined the recent revival series as a main cast member.
But as reported by Variety, actor Kurt Yaeger made history with his recent guest appearance on NCIS Hawai’i. Yaeger is thought of as the first actor to appear on every NCIS show, during the franchise's history on CBS, as totally different characters. That includes the original NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, and NCIS: Hawai’i. When “NCIS: Hawai’i” airs tonight, it will quietly make a bit of franchise history — via guest star Kurt Yaeger. The episode will complete Yaeger’s full sweep of all four “NCIS” editions, which is believed to be the first time that an actor has appeared on every version in completely different roles.
“Given how long these franchises have been in existence, there will inevitably be some crossover with actors,” said CBS talent and casting exec VP Claudia Lyon. “We don’t have statistics on how often that happens, but I wouldn’t be surprised. There are many actors out there who do one or two of them. But what makes Kurt unique is that he’s done all four.”
But here’s what’s also notable: Yaeger is an actor/writer with a disability, having lost his part of his left leg in a 2006 motorbike accident. And he’s utilizing...

Kurt Yaeger has ridden a BMX bike in the X Games and performed all his own stunts on shows like “Sons of Anarchy,” “Lethal Weapon” and “NCIS: Los Angeles.” He’s also a below-the-knee amputee, the result of a 2006 motorcycle crash that tore his pelvis in half, collapsed his lungs and shattered ribs. Despite his accident, Yaeger finds work playing characters with and without disabilities. He’ll soon appear on NBC’s new ensemble drama “The Village.”

Actor-comic Nic Novicki, founder-director of the Film Challenge, said the goal is to “show stories that haven’t been seen” and to remind the disabled community that they may feel invisible to Hollywood but things are changing. “The people are ready to see us,” he said, drawing cheers and applause from the enthusiastic audience.
There were four honorees for the short films, including best filmmaker, Day Daniells, with “Hit On,” a seriocomic romance she co-wrote with the film’s star, Adam Nelson; awareness campaign award, David Tenenbaum, “Footloose”; and best actor, J.B. Abajian, “Visibility.”
Clips from each of the nominated works were shown, and the four winners were screened in their entirety.
Entrants were given 55 hours to complete their film, of three-to-five minutes in length, depicting disabilities in its many forms.

One of the creators of The Inbetweeners Damon Beesley is teaming up with actor Joe Thomas for a new Comedy film about a group of teens attending a music festival called The Festival. The film will star Thomas, who played Simon on The Inbetweeners and Martin on the two's current Netflix and BBC collaboration White Gold, and the film is already teasing the likes of Jemaine Clement and Kurt Yaeger, so it should be a blast.
Those who have seen The Inbetweeners already know of the brilliance of this British comedy duo, and those who haven't will have to settle for the slim pickings that are available to watch on streaming services to get an idea. That, or they could watch the equally hilarious White Gold which stars Ed Westwick and I can't recommend enough to anyone who asks! Check out a trailer for that below and be on the...

Our pal, Max Allan Collins, has been writing stories about Quarry, the Vietnam veteran turned cold hitman, since 1976. Now Quarry is also a Cinemax series and our friends at the premium channel have given us a copy of Quarry the Complete First Season to give away.
To be considered for the prize, tell us what you find most appealing about the series, its premise and characters. We’re looking for interesting, well-considered commentary about the show not just a dashed off one-liner.
We want your entries no later than 11:59 p.m., Friday, February 10. The contest is open to United States and Canadian residents only and the decision of ComicMix‘s judges is final.
Set in and around Memphis during the early 1970s, Quarry is a thrilling action drama that centers on the character of Mac Conway, a Marine who returns home from a second tour of duty in Vietnam.

The slow ride through Mac's world continues to fascinate.
Watching him make mistake after mistake after mistake and the repercussions that follow makes for some truly engaging television. It's amazing how fast each hour flies by, considering how slow the story is being told.
Quarry Season 1 Episode 3 was no exception as we got to see how his night of indiscretion almost cost Joni her life.
Joni proved herself to be quite resourceful despite the fact she ignored her intuition and let Suggs into the house. I would imagine that even if she did close the door on him, he wouldn't have just walked away. And, had that happened, things might have turned out much worse for Joni.
We really got to see some added depth to Joni's character when she found herself tied up at Suggs' place. Jodi Balfour did an excellent job portraying Joni's fear while still giving us...

Producers and studio executives are warming to the idea of putting more actors with disabilities onscreen, according to casting directors and show creators. But disabled performers should be prepared to work hard to distinguish themselves. “You can’t expect to be hired just because you’re in a wheelchair,” said Angela Rockwood, a quadriplegic actor who co-created and stars in the unscripted series “Push Girls,” which airs on Sundance Channel. “If you want to be a serious actor, you’ve got to go out and take the acting classes; you’ve got to bring the juices so that when the roles come in you’re ready.” Even if a disabled performer is ready for her big role, that break won’t always come. Hollywood has a long history of casting able-bodied performers in disabled roles. A recent example advocates point to is NBC’s reboot of “Ironside,” which features Blair Underwood...

Graphic novel artist Gerry Kissell and "Sons of Anarchy" actor Kurt Yaeger aren't waiting for a greenlight from Hollywood to create a physically disabled action hero -- they're teaming up to do it themselves through Kickstarter. Kissell, best known for his work with Idw Publishing ("Code Word: Geronimo," "Iron Sky"), has turned to the crowdfunding website to raise $8,000 to produce and publish "Vindicated, Inc," a graphic novel about a double-amputee Delta Force soldier-turned-vigilante suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. Kissell hopes to produce a movie adaptation as soon as next year. "This...

Fans of the 1960s "Ironside" may be excited to see Blair Underwood step into the titular role forNBC's "Ironside" reboot, but disabled actors aren't quite as impressed.
In fact, the disabled community views the casting choice as an offensive one.
"This would be like being in the '50s and having a white guy do blackface, at this point," "Sons of Anarchy" star Kurt Yaeger -- who lost his left leg after a motorcycle accident -- told The Wrap. "You need to start having disabled people playing disabled characters. Period."
However, some are applauding NBC for putting a character in a wheelchair and a character with Parkinson's ("The Michael J. Fox Show") at the forefront of its upcoming series. "NBC is putting two shows on air that feature characters with physical limitations, moving a kind of character who’s often relegated to supporting roles -- and who’s often there...

According to The Wrap it seems that not everyone is happy with NBC’s upcoming new reboot of their old 1970’s Ironside series, and, in particular with Blair Underwood in the lead role. Not because he’s black, but because he’s not disabled in real life. Several disabled actors feel that having an actor who isn't disabled playing the lead role in the series "is as offensive as blackface". That’s what disabled actor Kurt Yaeger (Sons of Anarchy) says, stating that having it "…would be like being in the '50s and having a white guy do blackface. Kurt Yaeger plays a key role on Sons of Anarchy Season 5, coming on board the FX thriller this season as Greg the Peg.
But before we get to what lies ahead for this Nomad, it's worth noting the incredible journey that has taken Yaeger to this place in his career.
The San Francisco native started acting and riding as a child, appearing in church plays and hailing from a motorcycle-loving family in Northern California (sound familiar?).
A BMX veteran, Yaeger was pursuing a Masters Degree in Hydrogeology when he got into a severe motorcycle accident. It resulted in a torn Acl and McL; a fractured pelvis and vertebra; a concussion; and the amputation of his left leg.
Following four months prone in a hospital bed, Yaeger then spent another nine months trying to recover… only to be told that doctors had messed up the initial amputation. Another would be needed.

We’ve had nearly a year to breath since the fated shot heard round Samcro. Clay (Ron Perlman) took the life of another member of the Redwood Original 9 in Sons of Anarchy Episode 4.8 (read the Samcro Obituary).
The Soa webisphere cried in outrage, calling for Clay’s death – at the hands of Jax (Charlie Hunnam) and/or Opie (Ryan Hurst). Alas, we don’t hold the gavel. The weight (and burden) of that honor falls on the shoulders of showrunner Kurt Sutter. And, he ruled that Clay would live. But, there would be consequences.
Sons of Anarchy Season 5 began in an ostensibly new direction. Jax now officially rides at the head of the pack, with his Sergeant-at-arms, Chibs (Tommy Flanagan), by his side. Clay, “broken” but not out, looms in the periphery. He’s hunched over and unable to ride. However, don’t call him the new Piney (William Lucking). If you did,...

Sons of Anarchy season 5 is rolling our way and just around the corner, so it’s time for introductions to some of the new cast of characters headed to Charming and the Samcro mix. It’s time to meet the new faces in Charming, friends. The latest “Before the Anarchy” webisode introduces three new members of S.A.M.C.R.O., who we’ll get to know when Sons of Anarchy returns Sept. 11. There’s Frankie Diamonds (Chuck Zito), Gogo (Chris Browning), and Greg the Peg, a badass biker who just happens to be missing a leg (like actor Kurt Yaeger). “I don’t know if you should trust us or not,” Yaeger says. This show? We’ll guess not.

Today we have a couple more Sons of Anarchy season 5 primers, one just to sent to us by FX and another from last week that slipped my mind that I’m adding on for a double dos of Samcro love now. Both are part of the “Before the Anarchy” featurettes FX has been releasing leading up to the upcoming new season, offering insights into characters, old and new, as season 5 draws nearer. These two focus on Maggie Siff’s Tara and the Sons of Anarchy boss himself (and on-screen Otto) Kurt Sutter.
Siff talks about her new darkside and her status as the new Samcro first lady with Jax’s ascension, with Sutter sprinkling other general tidbits about Tara. The second video is about Sutter trying to establish a sense of off-camera camaraderie – citing his experience with Shawn Ryan on The Shield – with his cast and crew and how it translates for the audience on-screen.
