Saw X appears to have reinvigorated the Saw franchise, so while we wait for Saw XI to come along, we here at Arrow in the Head have decided to take a look back at the previous films in the series to compile a list of the Best Saw Traps. There were many traps to choose from, but the idea here was to narrow it down to the best trap (or trap scene) from each individual movie. Check out our picks below, and let us know what your favorite traps were in the comments section.
Saw – Reverse Bear Trap
Of course this one had to make the list, since it’s the most popular trap in the entire franchise and the one most strongly remembered by the general audience. The reverse bear trap caught so much attention when it showed up in the first film, they brought it back in a couple of the sequels.

“The Glass House”
ABC put 14 contestants into a house, and let America vote to decide who would be evicted and who would win $250,000. But with low ratings and a lawsuit from CBS claiming the show was a ripoff of “Big Brother,” “The Glass House” lasted just one season.
“I Wanna Marry ‘Harry'”
More than a few dating competition shows involve some kind of deceit, but few were as ridiculous as the one at the center of Fox’s “I Wanna Marry ‘Harry.'” Starring a male lead with only a slight resemblance to the British prince, the show pushed the limits of credulity.
“Joe Millionaire”
Attempting to expand on the format perfected by “The Bachelor,” Fox debuted “Joe Millionaire” just one year later, pitting contestants against each other for the affections of an average Joe whom they believed to be rich. Over a decade later, star Evan Marriott is still apologizing for deceiving those women.

Two days shy of its U.S. release, "Saw 3D" has been screened at Mann Chinese 6 in Los Angeles on Wednesday, October 27. The cast and crew looked happy as they attended the premiere of the movie which serves as the seventh installment of the horror film franchise.
Tobin Bell, looking casual in a black T-shirt, jacket and jeans, showed cool expression when he posed alongside co-star Cary Elwes. Elwes, who donned a pink shirt under his suit, was more expressive as he greeted director Kevin Greutert.
Meanwhile, the movie beauties showed their best smiles when hitting the puzzle-patterned carpet. Gina Holden, Rebecca Marshall, Gabrielle D. West as well as Tanedra Howard were among those supporting the special screening.

Bloody Disgusting reader 'JayKah' is literally spending every second of every day hunting down new Saw 3D content as he stumbled upon two brand new hi-res still from the flick arriving in theaters October 29. The marketing for the final Saw movie, Saw 3D continues to impress with this new poster that was released last night on the official Saw 3D Facebook Fan page. The poster has been designed by Jason Mecier and is more than likely the final poster to be released for the movie as it comes out 29th October.
This new movie stars Cary Elwes, Tobin Bell, Tanedra Howard and Costas Mandylor. It’s directed by Kevin Greutert who also directed Saw VI and has worked on the franchise since it began as Editor.

Apparently, in Saw 3D , we get a better look at those who have escaped Jigsaw's traps. Not that we haven't seen survivors before. There was Amanda (Shawnee Smith) and Tanedra Howard (Simone); but apparently the seventh and final chapter opens the scope a little more. Newcomer to the series, Sean Patrick Flanery plays a Jigsaw survivor named Bobby Dagen, and in the film, he's touting a new book, which you see in the photo below. It's kind of weird, but he resembles Saw producer Oren Koules a tad in this shot... For more new images from the sequel, gaze into our gallery .

Another trailer has surfaced for the sure to be brutal Saw 3D. In the graphic, a hundred foot Jigsaw is put together with helicopters, rigs and robotic soldering arms. The poster promises that this will be the final film, but that is unlikely. However, the poster art does show the gigantic size to which the Saw series has grown to. Enjoy the film's theatrical trailer inside.

Though Lionsgate rarely tips its hand with regard to casting and plot points for the Saw movies, a bit of possible casting news has hit the net that's pretty interesting.
According to the official Saw forum original Final Destination star Chad Donella has apparently joined the cast. While this is far from official, it's interesting if only to give us an excuse to revisit his Fd death scene below, which always brings a smile to our faces! Oh, how we long for the days when the Destination flicks didn't seem so stale. Dig on the video below.
Saw VII in 3D is filming right now with Kevin Greutert back at the helm and filming from a script by the also returning writing duo of Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton. Thus far Tobin Bell, Betsy Russell, Costas Mandylor, and Tanedra Howard are all confirmed to be in the film. Look for more soon!

They always give us just a morsel of info to get our brain-juice pumping. Thus far, Tobin Bell, Betsy Russell, Costas Mandylor and Tanedra Howard have all been confirmed for Jigsaw's latest game, while a Saw forum is reporting that Final Destination star Chad Donella has also joined in on the fun. Penned once again by Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, shooting is now underway in Toronto, Canada under the eye of Saw VI director Kevin Greutert. What do you know, a 7th installment of the Saw movie series is in the works… surprised? This must be some kind of record, right? Is there another movie franchise with more sequels than this one? We’re up to 7 now, and word on the street is that this could be the last one (wouldn’t that be great?), but if it keeps making money for Lionsgate (a company in a bit of a financial jam at the moment, with Tyler Perry partly responsible for keeping them afloat), I’d expect there’ll be a Saw 8 in 2011.
But seriously, is there another movie franchise with at least 7 installments, or more? I know the Star Wars series has 7 films, if you include the animated Clone Wars. What else? James Bond movies don’t really count. Each film isn’t necessarily a continuation of the previous. Each one is a stand alone.

Release Date: Oct. 22
Studio: Lionsgate
Genre: Horror
Director: Kevin Greutert
Writer: Marcus Dunstan & Patrick Melton
Cast: Tobin Bell, Costas Mandylor, Tanedra Howard
Studio Description: Not Available
Analysis: For its first five movies, the Saw series owned Halloween, with Saw II through Saw V all grossing over $30 million. It got to the point where promos boasted that "If it's Halloween, it must be Saw." However, the grosses became increasingly frontloaded as the years went on and as the quality of the movies decreased. Then last year, thanks to lazy advertising and unusually strong competition in surprise horror hit Paranormal Activity, Saw VI flopped in the pre-Halloween slot, ending up with a $14.1 million opening weekend on its way to a measly total of $27.7 million.
Recognizing that the formula had grown tired, producers decided to spice things up a bit for the seventh installment by adding 3D. That technique worked last year for the Final Destination series.

Saw VI director Kevin Greutert may not be pleased with returning to direct Saw VII, though he may be cheered by the familiar face of actress Tanedra Howard. According to ShockTillYouDrop, Saw VII screenwriter Marcus Dunstan announced the Scream Queens winner will return for Saw VII during the director's commentary to Saw VI.
(Tanedra) was so good, that she's not only in this (opening) scene, and the anchor and victor of a very intense trap, but also has a nice emotional scene later, and has just been added into the mix for Saw VII.
The next installment in the Saw franchise will be in 3-D. Costas Mandylor will likely return as Detective Hoffman, and Tobin Bell should be back in flashbacks as the enigmatic Jigsaw. Greutert will, begrudgingly, direct from a script by Dunstan and Patrick Melton.

First off, can we chance the name of this movie? For one thing it's awkward to say. Saw VII 3D? I mean how about something a bit more topical like, (Saw VII -The highjacking of a director that doesn't want to make the movie so why should we see it...oh and it's in 3D!). All joking aside this project is obviously going to happen and we have the latest on who will be on screen when Saw VII hits theatres this Halloween...
IMDb has some early casting listings on the film’s page. You have to take any casting news acquired this way with an industrial-sized grain of salt, but the people listed as being in the newest outing all make sense so we wouldn’t be surprised if this actually turns out to be true.
If they had a listing that included Morgan Freenman amongst the cast, we'd be a lot more suspecious.

In the commentary track for the recently release Saw VI DVD and Blu-Ray release, writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton confirmed that the character of Simone played by VH1's Scream Queen winner Tanedra Howard would be back in the upcoming 3D seventh entry. "(Tanedra) was so good, that she's not only in this (opening) scene, and the anchor and victor of a very intense trap, but also has a nice emotional scene later, and has just been added into the mix for Saw VII ," says Dunstan on the commentary track for Saw VI . Meanwhile, while not confirmed as of yet, it's a pretty safe bet that we'll be seeing Costas Mandylor, Tobin Bell and Betsy Russell return in Saw VII 3D. The first casting news from the already controversial seventh entry into the Saw franchise, Saw VII in 3D, has hit the net and it yields no shockers. Yet, that is.
According to IMDb the returning (and unofficially confirmed) cast includes Tobin Bell, Betsy Russell, Costas Mandylor, and Tanedra Howard alongside (we're guessing in flashbacks) Alexandra Bokyun Chun, Jon Cor, Franky G, and Dru Viergever. Mind you, IMDb isn't the most reliable of sources so we await official confirmation from the powers that be.
Lionsgate's Saw VII will once again being helmed by a really troubled Kevin Greutert and written by the dastardly duo of Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton. Look for it in theatres this October 22nd when it will duke it out with a Paranormal Activity sequel.
Expect more really soon.

Tobin Bell, Betsy Russell, Costas Mandylor, Tanedra Howard will all be returning in Lionsgate's Saw VII 3D, alongside Alexandra Bokyun Chun, Jon Cor, Franky G and Dru Viergever, so says the unreliable IMDb. According to his recent blog entry, Kevin Greutert will in fact be heading up to Toronto has a replacement director to David Hackl after being pulled out of pre-production on Paranormal Activity 2 due to contract obligations. No word on where the story will go, but the seventh film was penned once again by writing duo Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton. Saw VII 3D arrives in theaters October 22.

A Prophet
Opens: February 12th 2010
Cast: Tahar Rahim, Niels Arestrup, Adel Bencherif, Hichem Yacoubi, Reda Kateb
Director: Jacques Audiard
Summary: Sent to prison, Malik El Djebena falls under the sway of a group of Corsicans who enforce their rule in the prison. As the 'missions' go by, he toughens himself and wins their confidence but uses his intelligence to discreetly develop his own network.
Analysis: Finally scoring a limited release in the Us in February, Jacques Audiard's violent and hard-edged prison drama won the Grand Prix at Cannes, scored Best Film at the London Film Festival, and is already the hotly tipped favourite to take the Oscar for Best Foreign Film late next month.
Reviews have been stellar around the world for the film which quickly became the most universally admired entry in the often hotly contentious first week of Cannes back in May. From a breakout performance by Tahar Rahim,...

Those of you who tuned into season one of "Scream Queens" watched as 10 unknown actresses fought for an unprecedented prize -- a break-out role in Saw VI from Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures. On October 23, Tanedra Howard witnessed her dream on the big screen as she kicked off Saw VI with a bang -- by losing a limb. Now, VH1 is about to bring you the second season of "Scream Queens," this time hosted by 2001 Maniacs director Tim Sullivan. Beyond the break you can read Bloody Disgusting's extensive on-set report, courtesy of Chris Eggertsen, while also taking an exclusive peak behind-the-scenes.

It’s Wednesday, December 2nd (and incidentally this scribe’s birthday), when I arrive to the set of VH1 and Joke Productions’ reality series "Scream Queens 2". The show is shooting in a foreboding manse made infamous by its use in Rob Zombie’s Halloween (and across the street from the house Wes Craven made iconic in People Under the Stairs) off Western Avenue in Los Angeles, CA.
I’m greeted by co-showrunner Biagio Messina (who with his wife and producing partner, Joke Fincioen, is in the midst of the series’ twenty-four-day shoot). Scheduled to air in eight parts on VH1 next spring/summer and hosted by director Tim (2001 Maniacs: Field of Screams) Sullivan, "Scream Queens 2" will feature ten aspiring actresses vying for a role in Lionsgate’s next entry in the Saw film series, Saw VII 3D. VH1's tacky reality series Scream Queens gets a new set of judges for season 2: Scary Stud March 2006 Tim Sullivan (2001 Maniacs) and horror actress Jaime King (My Bloody Valentine 3D, The Tripper).
10 aspiring vapid actresses get the chance to win a role in Saw 3D, the next film in Lionsgate’s Saw horror franchise. Season one winner Tanedra Howard was featured in the “opening trap” scene in Saw VI playing the character “Simone.”
This season’s cast...
will once again be put through a horror film boot camp with intense physical challenges, learning how to work with creatures, gore, and stunts, while also building their acting chops. The winning actress will have to prove to the panel of judges that she has the talent, the looks, and especially the lungs to be a true “Scream Queen.”
"When the call came," admits Sullivan, "there was no way I could say no.

With James Gunn moving on to other things, the question beckoned: Who would be at the helm of this season's "Scream Queens" for VH1? It didn't take long for the answer to come.
From the Press Release
“Scream Queens 2” will take a new cadre of 10 aspiring actresses and give them the chance to win a breakthrough role in “Saw 3D,” the next film in Lionsgate’s “Saw” horror franchise. The reality competition series is produced by Lionsgate and Joke Productions, Inc., and is slated to premiere in 2010.

A few weeks ago we told you that James Gunn had to jump ship from VH1's season 2 of Scream Queens because he would be filming his new film, Super. Today we have word of his replacement and another departure from the series. Hit the jump for the full story. Looks like tough as nails acting coach John Homa will be the only familiar face returning from Season 1. Director Tim Sullivan (2001 Maniacs, Driftwood) will be replacing Gunn and actress Shawnee Smith (Saw series) will be replaced by actress Jamie King (My Bloody Valentine, The Tripper). The series is expected to air in 2010 on VH1. Season 1 winner Tanedra Howard went from obscurity to landing a role in Saw VI, while the winner of Season 2 will be given a role...

Scream Queens may be one of the worst reality TV shows ever! First of all striving to be a "Scream Queen" is career suicide. Just ask season one winner Tanedra Howard, who is now stuck acting in a dying Saw franchise with nowhere to go. I can't imagine being the winner of a reality TV show really opens many doors for an actress, especially a crappy one on VH1. As a horror and reality TV show fan I can say Scream Queens is a dumb idea, and I'm surprised they're bringing it back. However, since they have decided to give it a second season that must mean someone is watching it, but the fans of the show are going to have to watch it without judge James Gunn.

Has there ever been a movie franchise as user-friendly as the “Saw” films? “Saw VI,” the latest installment, may have a new director (Kevin Greutert), but the writers Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, collaborating on their third consecutive “Saw,” make sure that it’s as customer-service-oriented as ever.
Somewhere within the Saw universe’s ridiculously convoluted back story is a film showing how the dying “Jigsaw Killer” John Kramer (Tobin Bell) won the lottery, set up corporate offices, and hired legions of worker elves to build a “torture district” the size of Disneyland.
