Directed by Abhinay Deo and starring Anil Kapoor, Divya Khossla and Harshvardhan Rane, the action thriller Savi hit the big screen on May 31st to the praise of audiences and great returns at the box office.

In fact, Savi has turned out to be a rare profitable affair at the box office. A mid-budget film made at a cost of 28.50 crores, it actually recovered its investment prior to theatrical release itself and whatever came from the box office turned out to be an added bonus.

At the Indian box office, the film has netted 13 crores after two weeks. It has also collected some moolah from the overseas and that has resulted in the worldwide gross standing at 17.81 crores. There is a bit more that will come in weeks to come which should take the overall gross to 19-20 crores.

Savi is maintaining collections consistently, albeit at low levels, with only 10% drops happening on a day on day basis, something which is on the expected lines. Yes, had Monday been around 75 lakhs, then such kind of trending would have resulted in an even healthier number. For now, the collections have moved from 55 lakhs on Monday to 50 lakhs on Tuesday and now 45 lakhs on Wednesday.

While a similar trending would be seen today as well, it has to be seen how does Savi hold on tomorrow. That would be really crucial for the overall lifetime of the film. There is a week ahead in which the Divya Khossla starrer can earn as much as it can because post that Chandu Champion will arrive next Friday and that would take away all the attention.

Los Angeles, Feb 19 (Ians) Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor, whose noir-thriller show “Brown” is the only Indian show at the Berlin Series Market Selects platform, took the method acting route to play her part in the series.

The series is based on the 2016 novel “City of Death” by Abheek Barua, adapted by Digvijay Singh, Sunayana Kumari and Mayukh Ghosh and directed by Abhinay Deo, reports “Variety”.

If I didn’t know about Irrfan’s health issue I’d still be shaken by his hangdog unenthusiastic expression as he plods through his chosen life of a born loser in this savagely funny satire on adultery and blackmail.

In the strikingly shot (by cinematographer Jay Oza) opening we see Irrfan struggling to stay afloat through his office hours, fighting shy of going home because the spark has gone from his marriage and wife who watches cheesy song sequences on television to while away her time. Actually it was never there, the spark I mean. In a wedding song that comes on at the end of the film taken from Irrfan’s Dev’s marriage to Reena (Kirti Kulhari) seven years earlier, we see how mismatched and ill-at-ease the couple was.

As the Irrfan Khan starrer Blackmail is inching closer to its release, the film team is looking forward to special screenings for close friends and industry people. The makers of the film will be organizing a special screening for Bollywood's veteran actor and Irrfan's Piku co-star Amitabh Bachchan. Irrfan shares a very special bond with Amitabh Bachchan. He wishes to showcase his film to his Piku co-star first. On behalf of Irrfan, makers Abhinay Deo and Bhushan Kumar will host a special screening for Amitabh Bachchan. Earlier, Irrfan had expressed that he wishes Blackmail to get the best release possible. Hence, the makers have decided to release the film as scheduled.

After giving an action-packed blockbuster performance in Abhinay Deo’s Force 2, John Abraham is ready to take off with Robbie Grewal’s upcoming spy-thriller, Romeo Akbar Walter (Raw) this year. The shoot for the film is scheduled to start from June 1. The movie will be produced by Dheeraj Wadhwan, Vanessa Walia and Gary Grewal.

Commenting on the same, director Ajay Kapoor said, “We are excited to have John on board this film with us. The process began when we were brainstorming on whom to cast for the protagonist’s part and thought that John would fit the bill perfectly. He really liked the script and gave his nod on the same day as the narration. We have revisited the script of this espionage-drama which is set in the 1970s and we can’t wait to take it on the floors”.

Earlier we had reported that joining Irrfan Khan, who would be seen essaying the lead role in the dark comedy Blackmail that was being directed by Abhinay Deo would Kirti Kulhari. Well now we hear that the film which was earlier referred to as ‘Raita’, has been officially titled Blackmail.
