Ari Magder is a First Assistant Cameraperson based out of Toronto, Canada. Ari has worked as a Camera Assistant for 25 years on dozens of Features, Television Series and Pilots. Ari has experienced the magic of film and been a part of the digital revolution to the latest camera systems, large format and anamorphic lenses. Ari has collaborated with many talented film and television directors including Ron Howard, John Madden, Atom Egoyan, Barry Levinson, Bruce Beresford, George Romero, Billy Ray and Andy Muschietti.
Ari holds Canadian and US Passports and has worked in the US.
In Ari's spare time, he also hold the position of Treasurer for the International Cinematographers Guild Local 667, the Co-Chair of the Health & Welfare Trust for Camera crews across Canada and a Committee Member for the Canadian Entertainment Industry Retirement Plan. Ari loves the combination that his multiple roles offer: one of art, creativity, tackling financial complexities, seeking innovation and fostering inspiration.
As a life-long learner, Ari has completed two certificate programs at Harvard Business School Online; IFEBP Certificate in Advanced Trust Management Standards, Pension and Health & Welfare Benefits; IATSE Officer Institute Certificate in Secretary-Treasurer Training; and Queen's University Bachelor of Art (Honours) in Film Studies & Art History
