Principal photography on Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps has now wrapped, and star Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards) has kept the speculation going following a recent set video featuring a mysterious individual being rushed past the camera with a blanket covering his face to hide his identity.
Pascal shared a photo from the wrap party to social media, and the person he's sitting beside has his face obscured with a crown emoji on his head.
Possible spoilers ahead.
Most people seem to be under the impression that this is Robert Downey Jr., who is rumoured to make a brief (possibly post-credits scene) appearance as Doctor Doom in the movie to set up his lead role in Avengers: Doomsday.
This could well be Rdj, but one thing that goes against this theory is the fact that the mystery man is drinking a Peroni, and the actor has been sober for well over a decade.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is close to wrapping production (if it hasn't already) and, to celebrate Thanksgiving, Mister Fantastic actor Pedro Pascal just shared an awesome new fan-made poster.
In that, Marvel's First Family gathers for dinner in a recreation of Norman Rockwell's iconic "Freedom From Want" painting.
We're a little surprised Marvel Studios didn't take the opportunity to release something like this yesterday, though we're still not sure when the marketing campaign will fully begin.
The last time we got an official look at the reboot was when a Human Torch poster was released on "4-4 Day." A couple of trailers have leaked since then after debuting at this year's San Diego Comic-Con and D23 events.
Ultimates artist Bryan Hitch also took inspiration from "Freedom From Want" for a cover during his and Mark Millar's Fantastic Four comic book run in the late 2000s.

A recent video from the set of The Fantastic Four: First Steps has gone viral on social media, prompting speculation about Chris Evans’ involvement in the film. The video shows a crew member bringing an actor onto the film set in Spain while covering him in a jacket. Fans came up with several guesses as to who this secret actor is.

Evans was a popular guess after the actor reprised his role as the Human Torch in the previous MCU film, Deadpool & Wolverine. Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Joseph Quinn will play the titular superheroes in the film. Besides these four actors, Ralph Ineson and Julia Garner are also confirmed as Galactus and Silver Surfer in the film.

Though filming is expected to wrap this weekend or early next week, cameras are still rolling on The Fantastic Four: First Steps in Oviedo, Spain, and an intriguing new video from the set of the Marvel Studios reboot has now found its way online.
The clip is only a few seconds long, but the footage shows a crew member rushing a mysterious individual (most likely male) past the camera with a blanket over his head to conceal his identity.
There is a chance this is simply one of the main actors, but it seems highly unlikely since we've already seen them walking around on/near the set in-costume, and their involvement with the project is not exactly secret at this stage.
Possible spoilers ahead.

While it still hasn't been confirmed, we've now heard from multiple sources that Franklin Richards will be a key part of The Fantastic Four: First Steps and both Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige confirmed at Comic-Con that Marvel's First Family will appear in the latter two movies, but what exactly will young Franklin bring to the party?
According to insider @MyTimeToShineH, the son of Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman will have the ability to traverse the Multiverse in First Steps and Doomsday. That's sure to be a key plot point given how important this team looks set to be to the wider Multiverse Saga.
Remember, it was back in August when we first heard that Galactus supposedly summons Marvel's First Family by sending the Silver Surfer to Earth, demanding they bring Franklin to him. If they refuse, then he'll destroy their planet.

Jenn and I have spent the first part of the month dissecting fictionalized adaptations of cults, including Jim Jones and Jonestown (listen), as well as Ti West’s The Sacrament (listen). Then we spent the last few weeks looking at David Koresh and the Branch Davidians (listen), which led to an infamous 51-day stand-off and accompanying siege on Waco.
The Paramount+ series was always going to be biased because it is based on two books written by men involved in the siege: cult survivor David Thibodeau’s A Place Called Waco, as well as Gary Noesner’s Stalling for Time: My Life as an FBI Hostage Negotiator.
What frustrates, though, is how their stories wind up being given priority. In our discussion of the first half of the series (listen), Jenn and I hoped that the female “characters” – played by actors like Andrea Riseborough, Julia Garner, and Melissa Benoist – would...

There’s a reboot of the classic Universal Monsters property The Wolf Man coming our way from Blumhouse Productions and The Invisible Man (2020) director Leigh Whannell, aiming for a January 17, 2025 theatrical release – and while speaking to Empire, Whannell revealed that he drew inspiration from David Cronenberg’s remake of The Fly when he was crafting his take on this classic werewolf story.
Whannell said, “What The Fly did that a lot of other practical-effects-driven horror movies from that time did not do was bring the tragedy out of these practical effects. It wasn’t a joke in The Fly. It was there to illustrate someone who was dying of an illness. I was like, ‘I’ve got to do that.’ It’s not about being funny or icky or gory. This is about the tragedy of the human body falling apart.“

Last year's Hollywood strikes saw many highly anticipated movies slip into 2025, including The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
So far, we've seen only a handful of set photos and a couple of leaked trailers but, as we write this, that's more than enough for us to say this reboot stands a chance of being the best superhero movie released in theaters next year.
It's a bold statement, we know, and that's why we've gone in-depth with the main reasons Marvel Studios' take on its First Family has us so incredibly excited. However, in the interest of keeping things fair, we're also sharing a few concerns we have about the long-awaited reboot.
To check those out, you juts need to click on the "Next"/"View List" buttons below.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps wraps shooting this week and it seems the McU's Galactus, Ralph Ineson, is either finished or close to being done with filming his role as the Devourer of Worlds.
Taking to X earlier today, the actor shared what appeared to be our first look at the long-awaited reboot's take on Galactus. However, having recently realised that fans will jump on anything and everything he says about the MCU, the Nosferatu star soon shared a clarification.
Of course, those of you who caught the leaked trailer from D23 Brazil will have already seen Galactus and be aware of how close to the comic books this take on the villain is (a relief after Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer's infamous cloud in 2007).

For a time, The Fantastic Four: First Steps casting rumours were seemingly never-ending. It reached a point where it became clear Marvel Studios was approaching a lot of names for the reboot, including Gladiator II star Paul Mescal.
Or did they? Despite numerous reports that Mescal was the frontrunner for the role of Johnny Storm/Human Torch, the Irish actor has now denied ever being approached to "Flame On!" in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
"No, no, no. No [Laughs]," he said when Josh Horowitz asked if there was any truth to the rumours. "I don't think it's...I don't think it's for me. It's not for me. I think...I wasn't brought up watching those films. I wasn't drawn to them."

It seems some of the animosity between Denzel Washington and Josh Brolin’s characters in American Gangster momentarily bled out off-screen in a heated exchange during filming.
In a recent interview with Graham Bensinger, Brolin — who was promoting his new memoir From Under the Truck — reflected on his career and upbringing, including what he described as a fleeting moment where he and his co-star nearly came to blows.
“Denzel and I, by the way, get along very well now,” he prefaced the anecdote, later describing Washington as someone he is “in awe of.” “We almost got into a fight.”
He continued, “Denzel was a little late to set and there was a whole thing there. And then he showed me the lines — he didn’t change any of my lines, but he kind of changed the structure of it. He said, ‘I think I’m gonna put this down here...

As filming continues on Marvel Studios' The Fantastic Four: First Steps in Spain (shooting is expected to wrap over the weekend or early next week), some more photos from the set have found their way online, giving us a better look at Pedro Pascal suited-up as Reed Richards, aka Mr. Fantastic.
Though the Gladiator II and The Last of Us actor is still wearing a black hoodie to hide the top half of his costume, his blue pants and white boots are visible, along with the signature grey streaks on the sides of his head that have become a permanent fixture of the character in the comics.

With any true crime story adapted for film or TV, we expect a certain amount of narrative license. Creators may sand off a few here and condense a timeline there to present a coherent and digestible timeline. But what gets lost in this translation? And can we still trust the story we see?
In the newest episode of Bloody FM’s Murder Made Fiction podcast, Joe and Jenn encounter this issue in the 2018 series Waco.
Created by Drew and John Erick Dowdle, this limited series begins with a sympathetic David Koresh (Taylor Kitsch) begging for mercy while a group of soldiers point guns in his face. Early episodes take us back to a burgeoning cult leader building his flock while a government agency struggles to rehabilitate its image.
But what details have been softened in this less-than-faithful retelling and are the story’s real victims getting lost in the shuffle?...

Sometimes, a show knows exactly when to drop the mic. Created by Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams, Ozark—Netflix’s gripping crime drama—had us all talking about money laundering and cartels as if we were running our own shady business in the Ozarks. From cartels to family drama, Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman) sure made running a crime empire look like a full-time job, but in 2022, the Byrdes officially packed up and called it quits.
And oh boy, did it leave a dent!

Fans were hooked from day one, holding their breath as Marty risked it all for his family, all while trying to keep his morally questionable, life-threatening choices in check. But as the show wrapped up, the question on everyone’s lips was: Did it need to end? Or was the final season rushed out the door before its time? Some plotlines...

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is still shooting in Spain and while there's not too much to talk about in these latest set photos, we do get a closer look at the wig actor Joseph Quinn is wearing to play Johnny Storm, a.k.a. the McU's Human Torch.
For those of you who might not be aware, the Gladiator II star has a buzzcut and has opted to wear a wig to play the blonde-haired Johnny. It's a convincing effort and vastly better than what poor Kate Mara had to wear for Fantastic Four's reshoots in 2015.
Vanessa Kirby and Ebon Moss-Bachrach were also spotted arriving on set from afar and see the former wearing 1960s-style clothing and rocking a hairstyle that would make Jack Kirby proud.

From Blumhouse and The Invisible Man director Leigh Whannell comes a terrifying new lupine nightmare, Wolf Man. In the movie, Golden Globe nominee Christopher Abbott (Poor Things) stars as Blake, a San Francisco husband and father, who inherits his remote childhood home in rural Oregon after his own father vanishes and is presumed dead.
With his marriage to his high-powered wife, Charlotte (Emmy winner Julia Garner; The Fantastic Four: First Steps), fraying, Blake persuades Charlotte to take a break from the city and visit the property with their young daughter, Ginger (Matlida Firth; Coma).
However, as the family approaches the farmhouse in the dead of night, they’re attacked by an unseen animal and, in a desperate escape, barricade themselves inside the home as the creature prowls the perimeter. The main cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps is currently in Spain for its last couple weeks of shooting and Pedro Pascal has been spotted on set as Reed Richards, a.k.a. Mister Fantastic.
These photos were taken before cameras were rolling, but we do get to see the Gladiator II star rocking Reed's iconic grey hair and the blue team suit beneath his jacket.

A mixed history in cinema seems to be counting against Madonna as she publicly discusses disagreements with studios over her biopic.
In a world where musical biopics seemed to get commissioned with greater ease than any other genre you’d think a Madonna movie would be an instant green light. After all, she’s an icon of pop with an incredibly interesting life story and a back catalogue of hits to rival any musical biopic that has come before.
The project did make it into some kind of development back in 2020, with Madonna and Juno screenwriter Diablo Cody working on an early version. Then Erin Cressida Wilson was drafted in to co-write alongside Madonna before the project was scrapped by Universal.

In 2020, before the world fell apart, director Leigh Whannell unleashed a seriously smart take on one of cinema’s greatest foes: The Invisible Man. His vision of the Universal Monster offered an entirely new idea on what H.G. Wells first dreamed up – turning the premise into a terrifying tale of gaslighting, as Elisabeth Moss’ architect Cecilia is convinced her seemingly-dead abusive ex is still haunting her. Now, Whannell is following up The Invisible Man with another Universal Monster movie, Wolf Man. And this one, too, delivers an all-new approach to the legendary lycanthrope. Here, it’s Christopher Abbott’s Blake who’s about to undergo some lunar lunacy, beset by a beast whose claw has him slowly transforming into something else.
As that premise suggests, Whannell’s Wolf Man will be leaning into the body-horror elements inherent to the werewolf mythos. And he’s taking cues from one of the all-time greats.

Shakman stopped by Hangar Rebelde, a comic book store in Oviedo where scenes for the film are being filmed. He greeted the staff and bought a comic featuring Marvel’s first superhero family, drawn by Tom Scioli, because he liked its retro style.
The store owner, Jorge Etchegoyen, was excited, especially since the store’s display was themed around The Fantastic 4 and faced one of the filming locations. After chatting with him, Etchegoyen got a photo with Shakman, making it a memorable moment after...

Yesterday, Marvel Studios released a new synopsis for The Fantastic Four: First Steps which ended with, "And if Galactus' plan to devour the entire planet and everyone on it weren’t bad enough, it suddenly gets very personal."
The mention of this battle getting "personal" has sent speculation into overdrive, and some clarification may have come our way today courtesy of scooper @MyTimeToShineH.
The prolific leaker claims, "It's personal because Galactus is after Franklin Richards. He tells them to bring the boy to him or he'll destroy the Earth." Why does he want Franklin? That hasn't not been revealed but the comic books do hold some clues.
Based on what we know about The Fantastic Four: First Steps, Marvel Studios is pulling inspiration from Earth X, a comic that saw the female Shalla-Bal become Silver Surfer, by further exploring the connection between Frankin and the world-eating baddie.

Fantastic Four: First Steps is one of the most exciting upcoming movies in the MCU. It will finally introduce Marvel’s first family to the big screen, after several past attempts that didn’t quite work out—though that depends on who you ask.
We know the main cast for the movie: Pascal will play Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby will play Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach will play Ben Grimm, and Joseph Quinn will play Johnny Storm.
After the movie was announced, rumors started saying that Franklin and Valeria Richards, Sue and Reed’s children, would also appear. Franklin is said to have a connection to Galactus (played by Ralph Ineson), and he’s reportedly born in space.
Yesterday, an official summary for First Steps was released, describing the Fantastic Four’s battle against Galactus as “personal.”

‘Fantastic Four: First Steps’ is one of the most exciting MCU releases. The movie will introduce Marvel’s first family to the cinematic universe, following failed attempts to bring them to the big screen, well, depending on who you’re asking.
We know that the main cast of the movie, Pascal will be portraying Reed Richards, and Vanessa Kirby will be portraying Sue Storm. Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn will star as Ben Grimm and Johnny Storm respectively.
Soon after the movie was announced rumors appeared that the movie would also feature Franklin and Valeria Richards, Sue’s and Reed’s children. Franklin will reportedly have some kind of a connection to Galactus (Ralph Ineson) as the child will reportedly be born in space.

Marvel's First Family are on their way — and this time, it's personal. Over the past few months, the folks over at Marvel Studios have been carefully drip, drip, dripping tantalising tidbits of info about Matt Shakman's upcoming MCU movie The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Now, as shooting nears completion on the McU's 37th entry, Marvel has finally offered up an eyebrow-raising first official synopsis for First Steps.
Per a press release posted on Disney's own press site, the plot description for The Fantastic Four: First Steps reads as follows: "Set against the vibrant backdrop of a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world,...

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is shaping up to be 2025's most highly anticipated superhero movie and Marvel Studios has just shared an intriguing new plot synopsis for the reboot.
As well as confirming that Julia Garner will play Silver Surfer - believe it or not, that hasn't been made official before now - it drops a very intriguing tease about a "personal" link between Marvel's First Family and Galactus.
Interestingly, this version of Galactus is described as "a ravenous space god."

A new look at Blumhouse’s upcoming creature feature Wolf Man gives us a longer look at a couple of scenes.
Leigh Whannell has dubbed his upcoming werewolf project for Blumhouse as a ‘straight-up horror movie’ and we’re very much behind that idea. Whilst twisting the classic Wolfman tale in the direction of comedy or drama has given us some interesting and enjoyable takes on the hairy monster over the years, one of the things we love about Whannell’s films is how he commits to the bite.
Perhaps 2018’s Upgrade is the best example of this, an old-fashioned action thriller with a gloss coat of splatterpunk violence applied, but a film that is entirely unironic in its presentation and an earnest take on the material. Considering Blumhouse’s January releases can veer wildly in tone – from the comic silliness of M3GAN to the schlocky mock drama of Night Swim,...

Universal Pictures' proposed Dark Universe may have died a death long before it ever really got going, but the central idea — to take the studio's iconic pantheon of monsters and bring them into the 21st century — has remained very much alive (Aliiive!). In 2020, Saw co-creator Leigh Whannell successfully reimagined The Invisible Man as a timely allegory for the terrors of gaslighting with Elisabeth Moss, resulting in one of the best horror movies in recent memory. Now, with his upcoming Wolf Man, the Aussie filmmaker is preparing to retool Universal's 1941 creature feature as a tale of toxic masculinity and the dissolution of the familial unit starring Christopher Abbott, Julia Garner, and newcomer Matilda Firth. Check out the beast of a new trailer that's just been released below:

We're now just over two months away from the release of The Invisible Man director Leigh Whannell's Wolf Man reboot, and Universal Pictures UK (via FearHQ.com) has debuted an international trailer featuring quite a bit of new footage.
Our first look at what was assumed to be the titular Wolf Man via an actor in a costume at Universal Orlando's Halloween Horror Nights was met with a lot of backlash, but the first teaser did suggest that this will be the creature responsible for the initial attack, leaving Christopher Abbott's Blake to change into a different beast altogether.
The recent full trailer confirmed that the movie will indeed feature another werewolf, and we catch a new glimpse of the monster (he appears to be more bald than we were expecting!) charging through the trees on all fours in this latest teaser.

"Don't you lay a hand on him!" Universal UK has unveiled another official trailer for the new Wolf Man movie, arriving in theaters January 2025 early next year. A few extra glimpses of different footage added to this trailer though most of it is similar to the official US trailer from last month. Produced by Jason Blum & Blumhouse, this a fresh update on the classic furry Universal Monster originally invented with the 1941 film The Wolf Man. Most recently there was the 2010 remake called The Wolfman starring Benicio Del Toro plus tons of other werewolf flicks in the last few years. Marvel Studios has assembled one of its best ensembles yet for The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Led by Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach, the supporting cast includes names like Ralph Ineson, Julia Garner, Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, and Natasha Lyonne.
We don't know who the latter is playing, though fans have speculated that the Russian Doll star could be everyone from Alicia Masters to the voice of H.E.R.B.I.E.
What we didn't expect was for Lyonne to join the cast of What If...? season 3 as a newly created superhero. Disney's press site has confirmed she's playing Byrdie, an original character who is shown flying into action alongside Captain Carter and Kahhori in the officially released still below.
The only character from the comics we can find with a similar name is Birdy, a mutant ally of Sabretooth who doesn't have wings...

With The Fantastic Four: First Steps set in an alternate reality, we only expect to spend one movie on their world before Marvel's First Family moves to Earth-616 (Marvel Studios has already confirmed the team will appear in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars).
Before that happens, we expect to see the team cross paths with many familiar foes, likely in a montage showcasing their past adventures seeing as this movie is skipping their origin story.
There's already chatter online about John Malkovich playing the villainous Ivan Kragoff/Red Ghost, and we may now have confirmation that Mole Man will make an appearance.
The Cosmic Circus has spotted an update on IMDb revealing that MCU veteran Tony McCarthy is playing a "Moloid Person" in The Fantastic Four: First Steps. In the comics, the Moloids were created by the Deviants and reside deep beneath the Earth in Subterranea. When Mole Man discovered them,...
