Ghantasala Sai Srinivas Thaman is popularly known as S. Thaman. S. Thaman is an Indian musician, skilled drummer, and background vocalist who mostly performs in Telugu films, Kannada movies, and Tamil movies. Thaman was born in Madras (Now Chennai), Tamil Nadu, into a family of musicians, originally from Pottepalem in Andhra Pradesh's Nellore district.
His grandfather was the veteran director and producer Ghantasala Balaramaiah. While Thaman's father, G. Siva Kumar, was a drummer. His mother, Ghantasala Savitri, his sister, Yamini Ghantasala, and his aunt, Vasantha B. are playback singers.
Thaman studied at Boston School in Chennai. He then joined a music team consisting of S.P. Balasubrahmanyam and G. Anand when he was only nine years old.
Thaman lost his father at the age of 13, post which he followed his passion professionally. He then worked under Raj-Koti for three years on almost 60 films and later with Mani for eight years on almost 94 films.
Thaman debuted as a composer in the film Malli Malli (2009). The same year he made his debut in the Tamil film Sindhanai Sei. He also ventured into playback singing debut with "Uchimeedhu", a song from Sindhanai Sei.
Thaman also gave background music in the Tamil film Eeram (2009), which was well-received by critics. He caught the public's attention when he composed soundtracks for the film Kick (2009), starring Ravi Teja. His prominent compositions have been a part of different films, including Dookudu (2011), Mouna Guru (2011), Business Man (2012), and Race Gurram (2014).
In 2013, he contributed his talents as a composer to V.V. Vinayak thriller drama Naayak (2013). In addition, he gave the music for the movies Ivan Thanthiran (2017) and Jawaan (2017), both of which are in Tamil.
In May 2017, Thaman started working in Hindi Cinema when he featured in the album of Golmaal Again (2017), directed by Rohit Shetty. He also composed the theme song for Rohit Shetty's Simmba (2018).
Sketch (2018), Bhaagamathie (2018), Tholiprema (2018), Chal Mohan Ranga (2018), Orange (2018), Dammunte Sommera (2018), Aravindha Sametha (2018), and Amar Akbar Anthony (2018) are some of the projects he has been associated with.

In 2011, Thaman was awarded the title of Best Music Director at the SIIMA Awards, the Filmfare Awards South, and the CineMAA Awards for his work on Dookudu (2011).
Thaman has received many awards from Bollywood Life Awards, CineMAA Awards, Filmfare Awards South, Mirchi Music Awards South, National Film Awards, India, South Indian International Movie Awards, and Times of India Film Awards.
Thaman married playback singer Sri Vardhini in 1994. The couple has a son named Achyuth.
