Alphonso Van Marsh is an award-winning, multi-platform, war-zone experienced, international news journalist, producer, content generator, communications specialist/manager and media trainer.
He was born in Massachusetts, attended the University of California-Berkeley and Northwestern University's Medill Graduate School of Journalism.
From 2013-2015, Marsh was a London-based correspondent with CBS Newspath at CBS News, the Network's 24-hour television newsgathering service for 200+ CBS affiliate televisions stations. His live and taped reports included covering the British Royal Family, the Paris Charlie Hebdo Attacks, Summer 2014 Israel-Palestinian conflict and Nelson Mandela's death in South Africa. Marsh also served as occasional correspondent for CBS Evening News, CBS This Morning, CBS Morning News, CBS Radio and on-line channel CBSN, with assignments including the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.
He also spent more than a decade with CNN International based in Cairo, Atlanta, Nairobi, Istanbul, London and Johannesburg.
Marsh has received numerous journalism awards for his work, including a National Headliner Award for breaking the story of Saddam Hussein's capture with exclusive video in Tikrit, Iraq in 2003.
Based in the Philippines from 2011-2012, Marsh was Head, MultiMedia Unit (Communications Specialist) the 67-member national financial institution Asian Development Bank. He oversaw management of Asian Development Bank's Multimedia Unit, producing documentaries, videos, photo essays and other multimedia/new media for global audiences, leading the Bank to earn its first Communicator Award of Distinction from the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts.
Marsh has also served as a reporter/producer/shooter/editor for NBC News, PBS Frontline/World and other outlets.
