“Ted Lasso,” “Yellowjackets,” “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and Renee Rapp were just a few of the winners from the 35th annual GLAAD Media Awards, held Thursday night at the Beverly Hilton.
It’s the first of two dual ceremonies — the second happens May 11 in New York City — but we’ll go out on a limb and say it’s the best one because it’s first, and in Los Angeles (just kidding). And prior to the awards actually being handed out, the stars were out in force with some absolutely iconic looks for the Red Carpet.
Among them were Sydney Sweeney, Wayne Brady, Chlöe, Jason Sudeikis, Niecy Nash, and that’s barely a sample. Read on and see some of the best outfits and fiercest attitudes from the GLAAD Media Awards 2024.

It feels like forever since Willow Pill snatched the season 14 crown of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” (it’s been less than a month), so we’re punching ghosts over the fact that the series first ever all-winners season is set to kick off this Friday, May 20th. Premiering with two episodes on Paramount Plus, “All Stars 7” will feature eight past winners competing again for the chance to be hailed the “Queen of All Queens” by host RuPaul Charles.

HBO Max is reviving another classic series for its latest reboot project. "The Brothers Garcia," the hit Latinx sitcom that aired on Nickelodeon in the early 2000s, is being reimagined as a new series called "The Garcias."
The reboot aims to bolster US Latinx representation to create a "sense of normalcy" and dismantle stereotypes. "The Brothers Garcia" was considered groundbreaking for being the first English-language sitcom to have an all-Latinx cast and creative team. This time, 81 percent of the cast of "The Garcias" is Latinx, while the other 19 percent are Asian and Pacific Islander Americans (Apia).
"The Brothers Garcia" ran for four seasons from 2000 to 2004. Some of the original members of the Garcia family will reunite in the forthcoming reboot. The series, which has been ten years in the making, will make its way to HBO Max on April 14. Jeff Valdez - who co-created...

Condragulations are in order because Jennifer Lopez is about to make her long-awaited debut on RuPaul's Drag Race. A new season 14 trailer was released teasing the arrival of the triple-threat, and though she isn't shown in the video, Judge Ross Matthews at one point exclaims, "Even J Lo is looking at you like, 'Damn!'" According to Entertainment Weekly, her appearance will be a virtual one. If we had to guess, it will likely be tied to the release of her rom-com, Marry Me, on Feb. 11.
This comes after countless references to Lopez enduring career throughout the show's run. There was the time Carmen Carrera did an impression of Lopez in season three's Snatch Game. The six-way lip-sync for your life, the show's first, to "Waiting For Tonight" during season 11 also comes to mind.
With iconic guest judges and a twist you won't see coming, this season is a Game-changer!

Exclusive: Carmen Carrera, Stephanie Beatriz and YaYa Gosselin have joined the cast of transgender writer/director Kase Peña’s debut feature, Trans Los Angeles.
The anthology film is comprised of four stand-alone shorts. Each will take place in a different part of L.A., offering a glimpse into the daily life of a different Trans character.
Carrera, Beatriz and Gosselin will star in a segment called Period, which centers on Vergara (Carrera), a Trans Latinx woman recently released from the LA County Jail who gets a part-time job taking care of a shy 12-year-old girl (Gosselin), while doing sex work on the side, to make ends meet. For Vergara, the latter decision comes as a major risk, considering that sex work is what got her locked up in the first place.

The New York Latino Film Festival (Nylff) has set their lineup for their forthcoming hybrid edition of its fest which will take place September 14-20.
In the wake of the pandemic, many festivals have either canceled or pivoted to an entirely virtual program. The 21st edition will be a combination of virtual events and in-person, drive-in screenings that celebrates Latinx creators. This year’s festival features nearly 75 films representing more than 10 countries, spanning all genres including features, shorts, documentaries, web series and experimental films.

“Psycho.” “The Silence of the Lambs.” “Dressed to Kill.” What do all of these classic films have in common? They feature a transgender or gender variant person as a psychotic, deranged, murderous villain. The pesky trope began with “Psycho,” in what would become a favorite theme of Alfred Hitchcock’s, and proliferated throughout some of the most iconic thrillers of the last fifty years. Then there’s the “trans deception” narrative, which originated with dramas like “The Crying Game” and “M. Butterfly” but soon became a mainstay in comedies like “Tootsie,” “Bosom Buddies,” and “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.”
There are countless troubling examples of trans characters being portrayed as evil and duplicitous or sad and pathetic, far more than the average cinephile realizes. Most of the time, trans characters die before the end of a movie or TV episode. They’re all discussed in “Disclosure: Trans Lives Onscreen,” a new...

Caitlyn Jenner has claimed that Donald Trump has set the transgender community in the U.S. “back 20 years” in an address to the British Parliament.
The I Am Cait star, a registered Republican, urged the UK “not to go down the same road” in her address in the House of Commons. The address was the featured speech at Channel 4’s annual diversity lecture.
Jenner reportedly voted for Trump but subsequently revealed a case of buyer’s remorse after branding his decision to end federal protections allowing transgender students to use bathrooms that correspond with their gender identity a “disaster.”
Introduced by Channel 4 CEO Alex Mahon, Jenner also called London possibly the “most culturally diverse city in the world.”

Actress and trans advocate Laverne Cox visited Katie Couric‘s talk show back in January and the appearance resulted in a lot of criticism for Couric because of her badgering of Cox and fellow guest Carmen Carrera to reveal personal details about their gender reassignment surgery. As Couric attempted to justify it, she wanted to “educate” others who might not be “familiar with transgenders.”
Cox elegantly and politely shut her down: “The preoccupation with transition and surgery objectifies trans people, and then we don’t get to really deal with the real lived experiences.”
Couric invited Cox back this week to discuss what went wrong in that initial interview, and the social media backlash that resulted. Said Couric, “Last time you were here, I got a lot of flack because I asked about the physical process [of transition].”
Cox responded with a quote: “It’s only a mistake if you make it twice!

Couric acknowledged that she had learned a lot from her journalistic faux pas. “I got a lot of flak because I asked about the physical aspect of the transition process with another guest,” Couric said, ”and I learned that it's very,...

CBS announced its fall schedule which is both a big shake-up and a return to CBS’ conservative scheduling. The network is moving away from serialized shows like Hostages but every night’s line-up will be changed. Probably the biggest move is dropping the two-hour comedy block on Mondays. The last time CBS aired a drama on Monday it was Scarecrow & Mrs. King in 1986.
CBS joined the networks promising year-round programming, noting that one of the season’s biggest new dramas was the summer show Under the Dome. There’s a good number of new and returning shows not on CBS’ announced schedule, they’ll be used to limit the number of repeats throughout the year.
At least Under the Dome had Mike Vogel to look at.

Carmen Carrera is continuing her climb to the top as one of the most popular trans models in history, appearing in her own CNN special In The Spotlight: Carmen Carrera.

Carrera, 28, first shot to stardom when she competed on RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2010. Though she was eliminated mid-competition, Carrera has emerged as one of the most popular alums of the reality competition.
