Peter Friedrich Oberth was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. His family then moved to Michigan in the summer of 1994. During his Freshman year in high school, Oberth launched a blog (PO Entertainment) critiquing independent music. The blog would later be renamed Hyperactive Music and finally Flick Music in 1996. During this time, the blog began to grow and gain attention of larger record labels and the blog expanded into a full website. After graduating high school, Oberth moved to Atlanta, Georgia in late 2000. Soon after, he folded Flick Music into a new editorial website, Shakefire.com consisting of music, movies, video games, books and other forms of entertainment. Shakefire officially launched on March 22, 2002.
Oberth produced and directed the film short 'Stalking Rocco DeLuca' with Kiefer Sutherland in 2009. The film is a documentary on the travels of rock band Rocco DeLuca and the Burden and shows them on tour and in concert in Atlanta and Los Angeles. The film made its debut on March 20, 2009.
Oberth was brought on as associate producer for the museum film 'Normandy's 100 Days' in 2012 through Lumiere Media, Inc. Oberth served as associate producer from the early creative process through near completion. The 9-screen immersible film debuted at the Museum de Caen in France on February 1, 2013.
Oberth also served as consulting producer for the Jimi Hendrix biopic 'All is by My Side' in 2012-2013. The film, starring Andre "3000" Benjamin, is about the formative years of the legendary singer and guitarist.
The Sofia Coppola-directed film 'The Bling Ring' (2013) is the second film about the infamous group of teenagers that robbed numerous celebrities during a several year stretch. Oberth served as an consultant and fact-checker for the film. Oberth sold Shakefire.com in 2014 to a Japanese media corporation and in 2018 launched Kismet Media, a production company specialized in music videos, short film and television. To date, Kismet has won over 40 awards for their various productions including an ongoing working relationship with British singer-songwriter Ralph Pelleymounter. Kismet has continued their work with two-time Tony Award nominee and American Idol fan favorite Constantine Maroulis, British rock band Alex Ohm and award winning director Michael David Charles Hicks.
In 2019, Oberth was nominated for Best Picture at the prestigious Latino Entertainment Journalists Association Film Awards for the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, an honor shared with Robert DeNiro, Jim Beach, Graham King and Brian May.
