Dani Shay is a singer/songwriter who started playing the guitar when
they were sixteen. They allow real life moments & experiences to inspire them
to write songs with poetic-like lyrics. They released their first self
produced album called "Free! The EP" in 2008 followed by "Rise From The
Dead" in 2009, and "See Me Now" in 2010. In that time they also did
small live shows in Florida and posted a few YouTube videos, however,
it wasn't until 2011 that others across the nation and even the world
would discover them.
In 2011, they auditioned for America's Got Talent (AGT) and made it to the top 48. Their resemblance to Justin Bieber helped got audiences to tune in, but their voice and wit gained their fans -whom Dani calls their "Superheroes". After their time on AGT, Dani kept moving forward. They helped start up a "Pro-love/Anti-bully" movement called BeMoreHeroic and released 2 singles "Superheroes" and "What The Hell" by the end of the year.
Jan. 2012 they released their fourth album "All In Favor Say I" along with another single "Know You". Soon after they went on the cast of The Glee Project (where he met current girlfriend Ali Stroker) and made it to the top 12. Once again, Dani was able to charm their way into the hearts of not only America, but others across the world.
They are very aware of their "superheroes" and enjoys connecting with them at live shows and occasional online shows/Q&A's as well.
On August 21, 2017 Dani posted a video on YouTube announcing they identify as non-binary transmasculine.
From September 6, 2017 through October 22, Dani starred in the new musical The CiviliTy of Albert Cashier by creator Paul Deratany and lyrics/music by Joe Stevens and Keaton Wooden on Stage 773 in Chicago, IL. They played the role of Albert Cashier, a civil war soldier who fought for the Union and lived for fifty years after the war, presenting as a man despite the fact he had been born female.
