Best known for his witty, rural, authentic storytelling, acclaimed writer-director Akhilesh Jaiswal was born on March 19, 1986, in Bhopal, India. Over 10 years of filmmaking, Akhilesh has gone from low-budget independent films to working on some of the biggest blockbusters ever made.
Akhilesh Jaiswal made his Bollywood debut as a writer with the highly acclaimed Gangs of Wasseypur in 2012 and went on to win Filmfare and IIFA for best dialogues. He followed by being a part of another critically acclaimed feature, Ugly, in 2013. Jaiswal's directorial debut came in 2014 with the feature film Mastram. It was selected and screened on Miami Gold. In 2021, Jaiswal wrote and directed Bawri Chhori for Eros now. Apart from movies, Jaiswal has been part of many web series. Shows like A Simple Murder for Sony Liv, Illegal for Voot, Donali for Applause, etc.
