Production is underway on Legion M’s darkly comedic horror thriller Fade to Black, which sees art imitating life for an aspiring Hollywood screenwriter. Today, Legion M has announced that Betty Gabriel, Thomas Barbusca, and Annie Gonzalez have joined the cast.

The horror thriller marks the feature debut of director Andrew Sandler.

Fade to Black follows “Amit as he navigates the horrors of trying to break into the twisted business of Hollywood. After an accidental death spurs a sinister epiphany, the screenwriter starts committing the murders of his script’s fictional serial killer in a desperate attempt to generate the IP necessary to get his movie made. The film promises a darkly comedic exploration of ambition, madness, and the brutal reality of the entertainment industry.”

Netflix has just released the trailer for the new raunchy high school comedy from the Chernin brothers — Dave Chernin and John Chernin — who are veterans of irreverent shows It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and the tragically cut-short Fox sitcom The Mick. The Chernins reunite with The Mick‘s Kaitlin Olson and Thomas Barbusca in Incoming. The cast includes Mason Thames, Ramon Reed, Raphael Alejandro, Isabella Ferreira, Bardia Seiri, Loren Gray, Ali Gallo, Scott MacArthur, Thomas Barbusca, Kim Hawthorne, Victoria Moroles, Kayvan Shai, with Kaitlin Olson and Bobby Cannavale.

The short but sweet synopsis reads,

Chad will not be returning for a third season. Roku Channel has decided to cancel the comedy series from Nasim Pedrad.

Nasim Pedrad’s coming-of-age sitcom, which repeatedly bounced back from possible cancellation over the course of two seasons, is officially done. TVLine has confirmed that the show’s most recent home, Roku Channel, has opted not to proceed with a third season.

Chad finally has a return date. After being cancelled by TBS ahead of its second season premiere, The Roku Channel picked up the comedy series. It has now been announced that the ten-episode season will be released on the streaming service later this month.

Starring creator Nasim Pedrad, Jake Ryan, Paul Chahidi, Saba Homayoon, Ella Mika, Alexa Loo, Thomas Barbusca, and Sara Malal Rowe, the comedy follows a teenage Iranian boy (Pedrad) as he tries to fit in at his high school.

Netflix has snapped up rights to Incoming, a comedy written and directed by The Mick creators Dave Chernin and John Chernin, in their feature debut.

First announced last summer, the film stars Mason Thames (The Black Phone), Bardia Seiri (Grey’s Anatomy), Ramon Reed (Just Roll with It) and Raphael Alejandro (Acapulco) as four high school freshmen who navigate the terrors of adolescence at their first-ever party. Among those rounding out the cast are Bobby Cannavale (Old Dads), Kaitlin Olson (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Scott MacArthur (No Hard Feelings), Isabella Ferreira, Thomas Barbusca (The Mick), Ali Gallo (The Sex Lives of College Girls), and Loren Gray (100% Wolf).

Television fans were shocked earlier this year when "Saturday Night Live" alum Nasim Pedrad's "Chad" was canceled by TBS mere hours before the second season was about to premiere. This wasn't an instance where an episode or two were finished and the team was in the process of shooting the rest of the season, either. Season 2 of "Chad" was signed, sealed, and delivered, only to have their plug pulled just before airtime. A few months later, HBO Max quietly dropped the series' first season from their streaming platform, effectively yeeting "Chad" into the digital void, only to remain a distant memory. The cancellation seemed to be collateral damage in the wake of the Warner Bros. Discovery merger, which inspired some pretty drastic changes for both TBS and sibling cable channel TNT.

Nasim Pedrad’s cringe comedy series “Chad” has been saved from certain death. The series, which aired its first season on TBS, will move to the Roku Channel for Season 2, IndieWire has confirmed.

In July, TBS pulled Season 2 from its programming schedule the day it was scheduled to premiere and confirmed to several outlets that the season would not air on the network. The show, which had already wrapped production on the season, was the highest profile consequence of restructuring at the channel following the Warner Bros. Discovery merger. The merger prompted the company, under the leadership of David Zaslav, to cut original scripted programming from TBS and other networks in its portfolio.

The second season of Nasim Pedrad’s coming-of-age comedy series will run on The Roku Channel after it was scrapped as part of the cost-cutting measures at Warner Bros. Discovery cable network TBS.

As Deadline revealed, Chad was one of a number of shows and movies — completed or in various stages of pre-production or production — that were dropped after CEO David Zaslav took charge of the combined company. While the others were permanently shelved to use as corporate tax write-downs, following a plea by Pedrad to the new TBS leadership, she and her team were allowed to shop the series.

Chiara Aurelia’s initial reaction to reading the script for the R-rated “Luckiest Girl Alive” film adaptation of the novel by Jessica Knoll was one of terror. But that drew her even closer to the material.

“The first time that I read the script, my initial reaction was ‘Wow, this is terrifying,’ and thinking that the role was such a challenge and that it would really stretch me as a person,” she told TheWrap in a recent interview alongside co-star Mila Kunis, who plays an older version of Aurelia’s character. “That immediately gravitated me towards it. And also I think I really look for — actresses like Mila have seriously paved the way for me at my age (at which co-star Kunis chuckled) — I’m saying even in the last 10 years, it’s changed so much to where there’s so many more multi-dimensional female characters.”

Netflix has launched the trailer for its film adaptation of Jessica Knoll’s 2015 book “Luckiest Girl Alive,” starring Mila Kunis.

Mike Barker will direct the film, and Knoll herself is adapting the screenplay based on her book.

“Soon I’ll be an editor at the New York Times Magazine, and in six weeks I’m getting married in a lavish but tasteful ceremony,” Kunis’ character Ani FaNelli opens the clip, sharing news of her wedding to Luke (Finn Wittrock). “Luke comes from money, but I have something no trust fund can buy: The Edge.”

Thomas Barbusca has joined the cast of “Incoming,” a high-school comedy from directors Dave and John Chernin.

The project reunites Barbusca and the Chernin brothers, who worked together on the Fox TV comedy “The Mick.”

“Incoming” follows four incoming freshmen as they navigate the terrors of adolescence at their first-ever high school party. The cast also includes “The Black Phone” actor Mason Thames, Bobby Cannavale and fellow “Mick” alum Kaitlin Olson.

The TBS comedy series had been scheduled to return on April 11th but the premiere was rescheduled without explanation.  On May 5th, the cable channel announced that Chad's second season would launch today, July 11th. Somewhere along the way, those plans changed and it's now been revealed that the cable channel has dropped the show permanently.

Nasim Pedrad’s “Chad” was pulled from TBS’ programming hours before Season 2 of the comedy series was set to air on July 11, a spokesperson for the network confirmed to Variety.

According to the spokesperson, TBS is now looking for “the right home” for the series. As the news comes the day the premiere was scheduled, and a trailer has already been released, it’s clear that at least a significant portion, if not the entire season, has been shot and produced.

The pulling of “Chad” signals the continued demise of scripted content at TBS and TNT. As Variety reported exclusively in April, the Warner-owned cablers halted development of all new scripted projects as a result of the Warner Bros. Discovery merger, leaving already-popular series like “Snowpiercer” hanging in the balance. The cabler announced Monday that 2021's #1 new scripted cable comedy series returns on Monday, April 11 at 10:00pm Et/Pt.

The network also released a teaser of the upcoming second season starring creator, executive producer, and showrunner, Nasim Pedrad.

"Summer break is over and it's sophomore year for newly elected class president, Chad Amani (Pedrad)," reads the logline. 

"In this hilarious second season, Chad deals with a scandal that quickly ends his presidency, has a surprising new love interest, and gets a visit from his tough-as-nails Iranian grandmother - all while continuing to worry about his popularity, and discovering new ways to relate to his Persian cultural roots."

Disney/20th Century Studios dropped the latest trailer Thursday for “Ron’s Gone Wrong” (October 22 in theaters), which centers on the friendship between the titular malfunctioning robot (voiced by Zach Galifianakis) and socially awkward middle-schooler Barney (voiced by Jack Dylan Graze). It marks the first animated feature from UK-based Locksmith Animation, directed by co-founder Sarah Smith (“Arthur Christmas”) and former Pixar story artist Jean-Philippe Vine (“Cars 3”). The story of Barney, a socially awkward middle-schooler, and Ron, his new walking, talking, digitally connected device, which is supposed to be his “Best Friend out of the Box.” Ron’s hilarious malfunctions, set against the backdrop of the social media age, launch them into an action-packed journey in which boy and robot come to terms with the wonderful messiness of true friendship.

Directed by Pixar veteran Jean-Philippe Vine, the animation features a voice cast of Zach Galifianakis, Jack Dylan Grazer, Olivia Colman, Ed Helms and Justice Smith. 20th Century Studios just dropped the trailer for its new animated feature “Ron’s Gone Wrong,” and you might think at first you’re watching a preroll advertisement.

That’s because the trailer opens with a commercial for B*Bot, a digital sidekick that can seemingly do anything. Young Barney (voiced by Jack Dylan Grazer) is thrilled when he thinks he gets a B*Bot as a belated birthday gift. But he ends up with a faulty version named Ron.

Ron is voiced by Zach Galifianakis and looks like a cross between Baymax from “Big Hero 6” and a Minion from “Despicable Me.” He’s anything but despicable though; his flaws — including a glitchy display and occasional strangling of chickens (you have to watch) — make him utterly adorable.

Showtime is taking a familiar tack with this weekend’s season premieres of two returning shows and the series premiere of a third. The premium cabler has released the first episode of The Chi‘s fourth season and the debut of new comedy Flatbush Misdemeanors for free online, with the Season 3 kickoff of Black Monday set to join them on Sunday.

The premiere episodes will be available on YouTube, Showtime.com, Sho.com and across multiple partner platforms. All three shows premiere May 23. — The Chi at 9 p.m., Black Monday at 10 and Flatbush Misdemeanors at 10:30.

Barbusca will play Werner, a Young Republican assigned as an aide on the congressional staff of Blair (Andrew Rannells). Werner is more ambitious and less sycophantic than he initially seems.

Newcomer Wells will play Nomi, a self-possessed young talent with the voice to prove it, who quickly becomes the crown jewel in the new business venture of Mo (Don Cheadle).

Black Monday, which also stars Regina Hall and Paul Scheer, follows a motley crew of underdogs causing the worst stock market crash in the history of Wall Street.
