Originally from Tokyo, Kohei Obara established his career as filmmaker,
working as the youngest creative producer in Toei Animation, one of the
most traditional/major animation production companies in Japan.
His experience in storytelling is extensive, producing/assistant producing more than 9 nation-wide TV programs and spin-off feature films also including a 3DCG ride attraction for Sanrio's (Hello Kitty Franchise) theme park in west Tokyo. Kohei's debut as producer was at the age of 25, adapting the cartoon network classic hit animation "The Powerpuff Girls" into a 52-episode anime series "Demashita! Powerpuff Girls Z". His recent work "Dragon Ball Z Kai" hit successfully and is aired on Nicktoons and around the world. The show's high view rate won the 2010 Best Animation Show of the Fuji Television Awards.
Kohei collaborates in both native Japanese and excellent English with filmmakers around the world. He is a 2012 MFA Candidate in Film Producing at the AFI Conservatory.
