The much-awaited sequel to the 2013 Tamil cult classic Soodhu Kavvum is coming to theaters soon. Titled Soodhu Kavvum 2: Naatum Naatu Makkalum, it is expected to continue the quirky essence of the original, which was a massive hit and received critical acclaim upon its release.

The original film, directed by Nalan Kumarasamy, marked his debut and starred Vijay Sethupathi, Ashok Selvan, and Bobby Simha. Its unique storytelling and dark humor earned it a special place in Tamil cinema, leading to its Telugu remake as Gaddam Gang.

Tj Gnanavel’s directorial was released a day before Dussehra, i.e., on October 10, 2024. It enjoyed massive pre-release hype from both Northern and Southern belts. Unfortunately, the word-of-mouth was negative due to its weak storyline, which led to a 44% lower opening than Jailer, Rajinikanth’s last film.

Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan is one of the much-awaited Tamil films of this year. Tj Gnanavel wrote and directed the Tamil action drama. The film also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, and Manju Warrier, among others. After 33 years, Rajinikanth and Big B will be sharing screen space together.

The movie was announced in March 2023 as ‘Thalaivar 170’. Tj Gnanavel, who earlier directed Jai Bhim with Suriya, narrated the story to the Jailer actor, who immediately liked the script. The cast began with the filming in October last year.

Vettaiyan Release Date Update

Today, the film’s production house, Lyca Productions, announced on social media that the film will release in October 2024. They shared a new poster announcing the exciting news. In their post on X (formerly Twitter), the team wrote, “Happy Pongal to all”. It is indeed a fantastic gift to all the Thalaiva fans!

Actress Meetha Raghunath, who was recently seen in the Tamil film ‘Good Night’, has tied the knot. However, the actress didn’t share the details of her husband. Meetha took to her Instagram and shared pictures from the wedding ceremony, in which the actress could be seen in four different looks.

One picture shows her dressed in a blue and red saree. In another picture, she could be seen donning a cream saree with her curls left loose.

Meetha made her debut in 2022 with the coming-of-age Tamil film ‘Mudhal Nee Mudivum Nee’.

However, she rose to prominence with ‘Good Night’, which also starred Manikandan, Ramesh Thilak, Raichal Rabecca, Balaji Sakthivel, and Bagavathi Perumal.

The film tells the story of an It professional with a snoring issue with Meetha playing Manikandan’s wife in the film.

The fans of the 2013 blockbuster Soodhu Kavvum have been eagerly waiting for the sequel of the dark comedy film, which was announced by producer CV Kumar a couple of years back. The sequel, titled Soodhu Kavvum 2, has finally gone on floors on Monday with a pooja ceremony1.

The film stars Mirchi Shiva and Karunakaran in the lead roles, along with Ramesh Thilak, Radha Ravi, Ms Bhaskar, Yog Japee, Aruldoss, Karate Karthi and others. The film is directed by Sj Arjun, who made his debut with the Prabhu Deva starrer Yung Mung Sung2. The cinematography is handled by K Thillai, the music is composed by Nivas K Prasanna and the editing is done by Leo John Paul.

The film is produced by Thirukumaran Entertainment and is expected to release in 2024. The film’s official Twitter handle has been sharing some shoot spot clicks of the most expecting sequel, which has raised the curiosity of the fans.

Actor Manikandan, who is best known for his stellar performance in critically acclaimed Tamil superhit film ‘Jai Bhim’, will next be seen playing the lead in a comedy film on snoring.

The yet-to-be-titled film is being directed by Vinayak Chandrasekaran.

Source close to the film unit said: “Snoring is a problem that most people experience. The core content of this film is based on this issue. The film has come out as a commercial entertainer.”

“It has loads of humour and has been made in such a way that everyone will be able to enjoy it. The filming has been completed at a single stretch. The film was shot in and around Chennai. Currently, post-production work is on.”

Sean Roldan has scored the music for this film, which is being produced by Nazerath Pasilian, Yuvaraj Ganesan, and Mageshraj Pasilian for the banners Million Dollar Studios and Mrp Entertainment.

The unit of director Yuvan’s upcoming horror comedy, ‘Oh My Ghost’, featuring actor Sunny Leone in the lead, on Saturday released the theatrical trailer of the film. The trailer shows Sunny Leone playing a queen called Mayasena. It also shows her to be the ghost.

“You would have watched me singing and dancing. Have you watched me in action?” she asks as she delivers a powerful kick to a person.

Malayalam director Rejishh Midhila’s upcoming Tamil fantasy film, in which comedian Yogi Babu plays the lead, has been titled ‘Yaanai Mugathaan’.

Interestingly, the director, who is well-known in Malayalam film industry, is making his debut in Tamil with this film.

Sources close to the unit say that Yogi Babu plays a character called Ganesh in the film. Interestingly, the name of the character actor Ramesh Tilak plays in the film is Ganesh too.

“Both characters– played by Yogi Babu and Ramesh Tilak respectively– are called Ganesh. Ramesh Tilak plays an auto driver in the film and is extremely devoted to Lord Ganesha.
