In Clint Eastwood’s Juror #2, Justin Kemp (Nicholas Hoult) finds himself in an unenviable position: not only was he selected for jury duty, but something odd occurs during the murder trial’s opening statements. Details surrounding the night of the murder begin to trigger memories for him. First, he realizes he was in the same bar as the defendant James Sythe and his girlfriend Kendall, that same evening one year ago, an odd coincidence, but not too bizarre. There are only so many bars in a small town. But then he recalls an accident he had on the way home that night, right where the murder occurred. He hit a deer, or so he thought, with his Toyota 4Runner. He eventually surmises it must have been he who unknowingly struck and killed Kendall walking alone in the dark. And now he’s on a jury who must decide the fate...

Remember the days when anyone could simply head on over to their local theater on a whim, check the marquee for whichever movies happened to be playing next, and treat themselves to any number of solid, efficiently-made pictures made specifically for adults? That nostalgic scenario might as well feel as extinct as the dinosaurs in the year of our Lord 2024, but don't you dare tell that to Clint Eastwood. It goes without saying that at 94 years old, the nonagenarian is much closer to the twilight of his prolific career than its dawn, but the inevitable passing of time hasn't slowed him down one bit. If anything, he continues to prove that time has only forged a filmmaker as scrupulous, focused, and impassioned as ever.
Granted, the release of his latest sees Eastwood navigating a much different studio system than the one which first ushered him into the spotlight as one of our greatest American storytellers.

New Hope, Oregon, 1982, a group of four teenage friends – Reels, Penny, Mia and Simon - try to stave off the boredom of summer by hanging out, having fun and generally trying to forget about the realities of their lives and the difficult relationships with their parents. The small town they live in is going through an economic downturn and they have been cut off from the outside world due to maintenance work on the only bridge in and out of New Hope.
There is a brief flash of solace as one of the group, Reels (Drew Scheid) who works in the movie theatre, is told that a test screening of a new movie will be taking place. The four friends arrange to attend but Penny (Chloë Kerwin) is forbidden to go by her father, who is also the town’s preacher. Although she is more upset about not being able...

Directed by Clark Baker, who co-wrote the script with Stephen Susco, Test Screening is a deliriously gloopy ‘80s-set sci-fi horror that owes a significant debt to Society (Brian Yuzna’s 1989 classic). Other references abound throughout, but that’s the film you’ll be itching to revisit after watching Baker’s small-town squelch-fest.

The final episode of Mare of Easttown limited series drew four million viewers over the holiday weekend across HBO and HBO Max, with nearly three million viewers Sunday night (all platforms), marking a series high for both linear and digital, according to HBO. The finale also set the record as the most watched episode of an Original Series on HBO Max during its first 24 hours of availability, besting the finales of recent hits The Undoing and The Flight Attendant over the same period of time.
Mare of Easttown also joins The Undoing as the only series in HBO’s history to see consecutive growth week-to-week. Viewership still is expected to grow further via additional telecasts and digital viewing.
Created by Brad Ingelsby and directed by Craig Zobel, the seven-part Easttown stars Kate Winslet as Mare Sheehan, a small-town Pennsylvania detective who investigates a local murder as life crumbles around her.

Spoiler Alert: The following story contains details from the series finale of NCIS: New Orleans.
On Monday, NCIS: New Orleans came to the end of its seventh and final season, going out on a celebratory note.
The series finale, titled “Laissez les Bon Temps Rouler,” picks up with Pride (Scott Bakula) on the eve of his wedding to Rita (his real-life wife Chelsea Field), as he continues to dig into an attack on his half brother Jimmy (Jason Alan Carvell) and Connor (Drew Scheid), the son he’s only recently come to know.
Initially, it seems like the attack came from one of his mother Sasha’s (Callie Thorne) many enemies. It ultimately comes out, though, that Sasha had the attack staged, so that she could take Connor into Witness Protection, without Pride intervening. While it looks for a moment like Connor is going to skip town with his mother,...

With a filmography that ranges from indie dramas like George Washington and Joe to comedies like Pineapple Express and Your Highness, the career of David Gordon Green didn’t exactly hold much precedent for the slasher movie territory he ventured into with Halloween. But over the course of 15 years and multiple projects, the director claims to have kept one death scene in mind should the opportunity ever arise to give the horror genre a try.
In a bonus featurette from the film’s upcoming home release, Green reveals that his personal favorite death scene was the sad demise of Oscar (Drew Scheid), with the director recalling in a newly released clip how he’d envisioned this death by impalement on an iron fence long before he started work on Halloween:
“I’ve thought for over a decade that if I ever made a horror movie, I would have to include that moment.

“Shallow” from “A Star is Born”
It’s almost passé to talk about this song now, which first took pop culture by storm back when the trailer dropped and has been endlessly referenced, memed, and karaoked across the land. Horror sequels generally are not great, and that’s being charitable. Usually, they outright suck. So, it’s an absolute delight to see that David Gordon Green has defied the odds. Along with Danny McBride, Green has managed to honor the Halloween franchise, while also giving it a new spin. When Halloween hits theaters this week, it won’t just be another big hit for Jason Blum and Blumhouse, it’ll mark a rare cinematic achievement. Halloween, due in large part to Green and McBride, is one of the best horror sequels of all time. The competition may not be fierce, but it’s still high praise. This new version stands tall alongside the original, and that’s really saying something. Set four decades after the events of the original Halloween, this follow up erases all of the sequels that came before it, which is an excellent call. Here, Michael Myers is locked up,...

"Michael Myers is the embodiment of pure evil." Following the release of a new trailer, Jamie Lee Curtis, John Carpenter, and David Gordon Green discuss the relentless killing force of Michael Myers in a new featurette for the new Halloween, which takes place 40 years after Haddonfield's infamous "babysitter murders."
In Halloween, a follow-up film to John Carpenter's 1978 masterpiece, Curtis reprises her role as Laurie for one last battle with the boogeyman himself, Michael Myers. In the new trailer below, the blood-stained stage is set for the fight to the finish between two horror icons.
Laurie won't be the only Strode going up against The Shape, though, as Judy Greer and Andi Matichak also co-star in the film as Laurie's daughter and granddaughter, respectively. The cast also includes Will Patton, who plays a police officer, as well as Ginny Gardner, Miles Robbins, Dylan Arnold, and Drew Scheid, who all play friends of the teenaged Allyson.
In Halloween, a follow-up film to John Carpenter's 1978 masterpiece, Curtis reprises her role as Laurie for one last battle with the boogeyman himself, Michael Myers. In the new trailer below, the blood-stained stage is set for the fight to the finish between two horror icons.

Does it feel like fall is creeping up on you with a butcher knife in hand? You're not alone. An iconic manifestation of autumn, Michael Myers stands imposingly tall with his favorite kitchen accessory at the ready in a new Halloween movie image unveiled by Entertainment Weekly.
In addition to sharing the new image, EW caught up with the film's star, Jamie Lee Curtis, who talked about her fondness for how this movie's screenplay directly links back to the first film in the franchise (and not the sequels):
“What I loved is that it surgically excises all of that dead tissue. This is growing from just that original movie, 40 years later. There may be people who love the other movies, great — [they have] zero relevance to this story.”

Universal has finally released the first images from ‘Halloween’, and they look extremely promising. Although we won’t see the first trailer for the film until later this week, these new images (via USA Today) tease Michael, Laurie, and a potential confrontation between the two. In case you are unaware the film treads the line between sequel and reboot, ignoring most of the franchise except for the original film. Taking Place 40 years later, the film follows Laurie, her daughter and granddaughter as Michael terrorizes Haddenfield on Halloween night once again.
The images themselves seem to capture the look and style of the original which is great it terms of continuity, it remains to be seen how the tone of the trailer will stack up. We get good looks at both characters, but I’m really loving the weathered look of Michael’s mask this time around. It has a gritty feel,...

Exactly six months from today will be the night he returned to theaters, and to mark the occasion, the first official poster for the new Halloween movie has been unveiled.
Featuring a close-up shot of Michael Myers' mask, the new poster was posted on the Halloween movie's official Facebook page and can be viewed below. This version of Myers' white mask is wrinkled and worn, perhaps reflecting the decades that have passed since the late ’70s evening of John Carpenter's Halloween. The close-up also offers a look at Myers' eyes lurking in the shadows beneath the mask, adding another layer of scares and a peek at the man behind the horrors of Haddonfield.

With production now underway on the new Halloween movie, Will Patton has joined the cast to play a police officer character who will likely have his hands full with Michael Myers once again on the loose.
The latest Halloween casting news (fittingly revealed on John Carpenter's 70th birthday) comes from The Tracking Board, who report that Patton will play a cop, although further details on his character are unknown. Director David Gordon Green and writer Danny McBride have officially started shooting their Halloween reboot. Above you'll see a cool graphic being used for the production. Judging from what has been said about this movie since it was first announced, it sounds like we actually might get a great sequel to John Carpenter's original 1978 film.
The movie is said to be a sequel to the very first Halloween movie. It will ignore every sequel that has been made and after 40 years, Michael Meyers will return to finish what he started.
Jamie Lee Curtis returns to reprise her iconic role as Laurie Strode, who is said to come to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago. Judy Greer plays Karen Strode, the daughter of Curtis’ character, and Andi Matichak (Orange Is the New Black,...

Though David Gordon Green’s Halloween sequel recently encountered an unexpected setback (spoilers: filming was delayed from October to this month), there’s still a tremendous amount of excitement echoing around the horror community for what is, essentially, Laurie Strode’s final run-in with the masked Michael Myers.
For one, it’ll ignore all other sequels in the Halloween timeline in honor of John Carpenter’s original classic, which is very much considered to be the jumping-off point, creatively speaking. Not only that, but we’ve also been told that we should be very, very scared about the story that Green and Danny McBride have rustled up. Why? Well, it’s hard to say without having seen any footage, but with production now underway, we should start learning more soon.
Speaking of which, to mark the start of shooting, Blumhouse Productions shared the first set photo this week, which you...

Laurie Strode and Michael Myers may be having one final showdown this fall, but The Shape now has even more potential victims to hunt down in the new Halloween movie, which just began filming in South Carolina.
According to the official Halloween franchise website, Ginny Gardner, Miles Robbins, Dylan Arnold, and Drew Scheid have joined the cast of the new Halloween movie to play the friends of Allyson (Andi Matichak), who is presumably the granddaughter of Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) and the daughter of Karen Strode (Judy Greer).

Though it’s still a ways away, casting on Blumhouse’s Halloween sequel is beginning to heat up.
Last month, for instance, we learned that Andi Matichak had clinched the role of Laurie Strode’s granddaughter, Allyson. That casting coup paves the way for a multi-generational story – a first for the Halloween series – given Jamie Lee Curtis and Judy Greer are primed to play Laurie and Karen Strode, respectively.
It’s shaping up to be a family reunion, then, but of course, there’s also the supporting cast to consider. And now, with production officially underway in Charleston, South Carolina, four more actors have boarded the project. Virginia “Ginny” Gardner (Project Almanac), Miles Robbins (Mozart in the Jungle, My Friend Dahmer), Dylan Arnold (Mudbound, Laggies, When We Rise) and Drew Scheid (Stranger Things, The War with Grandpa) have all joined Halloween, and while details on their roles are vague, we...
