In a new interview, Neeson talks about his age and considers when he should stop taking on physically demanding roles.

“I’m 72 — it has to stop at some stage,” Neeson told People.

The Taken actor continues to perform his own fight scenes, with Mark Vanselow taking on the more demanding stunts.

“You can’t fool audiences. I don’t want Mark to be fighting my fight scenes for me,” he added.

Neeson hasn’t set a time to stop making action movies but noted that it could be sometime in 2025.

“Maybe the end of next year. I think that’s it,” he said.

Exclusive: Talia Ryder has boarded Rob Burnett’s comedy film In Memoriam alongside Marc Maron.

Burnett (The Fundamentals of Caring) wrote the script, and he will direct the film for Invention Studios (Thelma).

In Memoriam will begin shooting in Los Angeles on Monday, telling the story of a veteran Hollywood actor (Maron) who becomes obsessed with securing a spot in the Oscars’ “In Memoriam” montage after he receives a terminal cancer diagnosis. A24 has picked up its third festival film in less than three weeks, paying what is understood to be low seven figures for US rights to Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) Midnight Madness selection Friendship starring Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd.

The comedy from Fifth Season and BoulderLight Pictures received its world premiere in Toronto on September 8 where it was a runner-up in the People’s Choice Midnight Madness Award.

According to Deadline, sources have said the deal that A24 shelled out reached seven figures. The film also stars Kate Mara, Jack Dylan Grazer, Josh Segarra, Billy Bryk, Jason Veasey, Jon Glaser, Eric Rahill, Conner O’Malley, Carmen Christopher, Craig Frank, Omar Torres, Jacob Ming-Trent, Daniel London, Whitmer Thomas and Raphael Sbarge.

The plot for the new comedy reads, “A suburban dad (Tim Robinson) becomes hellbent on being BFFs with his charismatic new neighbor (Paul Rudd).” Andrew DeYoung wrote and directed the film. The indie powerhouse has acquired U.S. distribution for “Friendship,” the Andrew DeYoung film that stars Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd, out of the Toronto International Film Festival. The deal is said to be in the low 7-figure range, an individual with knowledge told TheWrap.

Robinson plays Craig Waterman, a suburban dad whose life takes an unexpected turn when he befriends his enigmatic new neighbor, Austin Carmichael, played by Rudd. Kate Mara, Jack Dylan Grazer, Josh Segarra, Billy Bryk, Jason Veasey and Jon Glaser also star.

DeYoung also wrote the screenplay for the movie, which was one of the breakout titles at TIFF this year, with the film receiving raves for how hilarious and uncomfortable the movie made audiences. The movie played as part of the Midnight Madness program at the festival.

A24 has landed rights to “Friendship,” a comedy starring Tim Robinson of “I Think You Should Leave” fame and Paul Rudd. The movie had its world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival as part of the Midnight Madness program.

Andrew DeYoung wrote and directed “Friendship” in his feature debut. Channeling the cringe comedy of “I Think You Should Leave,” Robinson plays a suburban dad who obsessively pursues a bond with his charming neighbor (Rudd). Kate Mara, Jack Dylan Grazer, Josh Segarra and Billy Bryk also appear in the film.

“Friendship” is Robinson’s first starring role in a movie. Rudd is known for comedies like “Anchorman,” “The 40-Year-Old Virgin,” “Clueless” and “I Love You, Man.” DeYoung has directed episodes of “The Other Two,” “Pen15,” “High Fidelity” and “Our Flag Means Death.”

Having successfully built a devoted following as a leading purveyor of cringe comedy with his hit Netflix sketch series, I Think You Should Leave With Tim Robinson, the show’s rubber-faced star/co-creator ups his game with the innocently titled Friendship, a gleefully discomfiting portrait of male bonding that delivers some of the year’s biggest laughs.

Robinson navigates an extremely fine line between lovable goof and creepy psycho in writer-director Andrew DeYoung’s fearless first feature, playing a klutzy man-child of a suburban dad whose everyman demeanor becomes short-circuited after being taken under the wing of a friendly neighbor (Paul Rudd).

Of course, it also doesn’t hurt to land the always game Rudd as the object of one’s obsession. Rudd is himself no stranger to bromantic comedies, having starred in 2009’s I Love You, Man, which plays like innocuous fluff in comparison to DeYoung and Robinson’s no-holds-barred approach to the subject.

Craig Waterman is a middle class suburbanite who works at an office company that makes their clients’ products more addictive — whether those products are apps, foods, or politicians. In lieu of friends, Craig is casual acquaintances with his co-workers, and he looks forward to seeing “the new Marvel” because he hears it’s so crazy that it’s literally driving people insane. His entire wardrobe comes from a company called Ocean View Dining, he’s obsessed with trying the “Seal Team 6” special at a local restaurant, and his wife Tami still kisses their teenage son on the mouth.

The curse of success is a fascinating thing in Hollywood. It has always been a "What have you done for me lately?" business. In the case of director Andy Muschietti, in the fall of 2017, he delivered Warner Bros. the biggest horror movie of all time when he nailed an adaptation of Stephen King's much-beloved novel "It." While King's novel had previously been adapted as a TV miniseries in the '90s, Muschietti's take on the material resonated with audiences in a way that nobody could have predicted. The great news for all involved is that King's novel is an unwieldy beast that no one movie could possibly hope to contain.

Let’s see if those famously kind Canadian audiences can convince Hollywood studios and streamers to bring the indies of this year’s Toronto International Film Festival back with them through customs.

As always, a promising crop of star-studded films are headed to TIFF in search of distribution. Some have tantalized audiences in Venice or Telluride, some showed only brief glimpses of their wares to early suitors in Cannes, and some are on the ground over the next week to make splashy debuts just in time for awards consideration.

“We’re still feeling the hangover of the past few years. The lingering impact of Covid, and of course the strikes,” said Jessamine Burgum, who runs the indie production shop Pinky Promise with partner Kara Durrett. The pair are in town with one of the most buzzed-about projects of the year, “The Last Showgirl” starring Pamela Anderson in a tale of redemption and sequined headdresses.

Splashy Last Week On The Lido

Uncharacteristically buzzy: The Venice Film Festival ends tomorrow after an uncharacteristically buzzy second week. The festival is usually front-loaded, with the splashiest titles playing early. This year, however, Alberto Barbera, who dished to Andreas, said the lengthy runtimes of some competition titles meant the spoils had to spread across both weeks. Enter Brady Corbet’s 215-minute post-wwii epic The Brutalist, starring Adrien Brody, Felicity Jones, Guy Pearce, Joe Alwyn, Stacy Martin, Raffey Cassidy, Emma Laird, Isaach De Bankolé and Alessandro Nivola. The pic was well received, landing a 13-minute ovation from the Sala Grande audience. The Bfg is a fantasy-adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg from a screenplay by Melissa Mathison.

Grace Caroline Currey has joined the cast of “The Breed,” and is set to lead the film. Directed by brothers Nathan and Griff Furst, the film is an “unconventional reimagining of the Wes Craven cult classic.” The brothers will produce together through their company, Curmudgeon Films.

Starring Jack Dylan Grazer, the recently released Spiderwick show became the talk of the town when the show’s Thimbletack actor Grazer shared his take on his performance.

The Spiderwick Chronicles has once again returned to the screens to remind fans of the mesmerizing story of the twin brothers Jared and Simon Grace and the magical Spiderwick Estate. I’ll be honest, I had no idea what to expect going into The Spiderwick Chronicles. The original books, despite likely being right up my Percy Jackson-loving alley, completely passed me by as a kid. And while I have vague memories of the trailers for the 2008 film adaptation, I never actually saw the film for myself.

As such, I cannot speak to how the new series, originally produced for Disney+ and nearly thrown in the bin as a cost-cutting measure before being rescued by The Roku Channel, plays as an adaptation or how faithful it is to the source material; though given that the original authors are executive producers, I imagine it’s at least faithful enough.

Fans of children’s literature as well as children, will probably have heard of The Spiderwick Chronicles series, written by Tony Diterlizzi and Holly Black. The series follows the adventures of the Grace children, the twins Simon and Jared, and their older sister Mallory after they move into the Spiderwick Estate and discover a mysterious fantasy world they had not known about. The main series consists of five books, with three additional books that form the Beyond the Spiderwick Chronicles series.

The book series was first adapted into movie format in 2008, when The Spiderwick Chronicles was released, receiving generally positive reviews but that was it at the time. In 2021, Disney+ announced that it had ordered a six-episode series based on the books, which eventually turned into an eight-episode series that was sold to The Roku Channel and will be released on April 19, 2024 in the form of a batch release.

The official trailer for Roku’s The Spiderwick Chronicles shows off much more of the series’ fantasy world and of Christian Slater as an ogre who would prefer a world without humans. The two-minute trailer also introduces the Grace family and how moving into the Spiderwick Estate opens up their eyes to the existence of mythical creatures.

Hulu has released the official trailer for its limited series “Under the Bridge,” with Riley Keough and Lily Gladstone leading the cast. The series is set to premiere with two episodes April 17, and new episodes launching weekly.

“Under the Bridge” is based on Rebecca Godfrey’s book about the true story of fourteen-year-old Reena Virk, who went to join friends at a party in 1997 and never returned home. The series, seen through the eyes of Godfrey (Keough) and a local police officer (Gladstone), follows the hidden world of the young girls accused of the murder.

Other cast members include Vritika Gupta, Chloe Guidry, Javon Walton, Izzy G., Aiyana Goodfellow, Ezra Faroque Khan and Archie Panjabi.

“Under the Bridge” was adapted by Quinn Shephard. Shephard, Samir Mehta, Liz Tigelaar, Stacey Silverman, Geeta Vasant Patel and Tara Duncan are executive producers. Godfrey also served as an executive producer. Keough will executive produce with Gina Gammell.
