Disney is taking trigger warnings off its old films, as CEO Bob Iger continues the kowtowing to the new US President.
Disney CEO Bob Iger is nothing if not a shrewd operator, and he’s certainly seen which way the wind is blowing in the American political and cultural landscape.
Not long after approving a $15m settlement that convicted criminal and US President Donald Trump had slapped on ABC News, Iger has now issued a raft of changes to the way Disney does business. It puts Disney in line with Trump’s demands, which he’s been introducing since the businessman accused of serious sexual assault made if back into the White House.
One of those changes (per World Of Reel) is the removal of all trigger warnings from Disney’s library of classic films on its Disney+ platform.

The effects of the Trump administration’s war on Dei are being felt at Disney. Disney is changing its overall strategy toward diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives as the federal government says it will investigate what it believes to be illegal practices by public companies. One of the first changes is coming to Disney+.
Disney+ regularly includes content warnings ahead of older, classic films in its library, including movies like “Dumbo,” “The Aristocats,” “Peter Pan,” and others. Those content warnings that pre-roll before the movie are being tweaked, arguably softened, an individual with knowledge of the changes told IndieWire. The language previously read that these films contain “negative depictions and/or mistreatment of peoples or cultures.” It will now read this: “This program is presented as originally created and may contain stereotypes or negative depictions.”

In a move to try and ensure that it doesn’t wind up in the crosshairs of the Trump administration’s campaign against diversity, equity and inclusion programs, Disney appears to be rolling back some of its Dei efforts.
The entertainment giant, in its latest filing to regulators, scrubbed references to the “Reimagine Tomorrow” initiative, which launched in 2021 with the purpose of amplifying underrepresented voices. It also didn’t mention employee development programs and fellowships for underrepresented talent, instead noting an existing initiative intended to hire military veterans.
The pivot was outlined in a note to employees sent Tuesday from chief human resources officer Sonia Coleman. It includes a new “talent strategy” factor to executive compensation planning that assesses how leaders “uphold our company values, incorporate different perspectives to drive business success, cultivate an environment where all employees can thrive, and sustain a robust pipeline to ensure long-term organizational strength.

Former Miami Heat point guard Dwyane Wade disclosed that he was diagnosed with cancer after he received kidney surgery.
On Jan. 30, Wade made this revelation on the latest episode of his podcast, The Why with Dwyane Wade, while speaking with his co-host Bob Metelus.
He shared that he “went in to get myself checked” and told the doctor that he had “some stomach issues.”
“These are the things I want us to check, but also check everything,” he told the doctor.
“So on that process of checking the certain cramps that I feel at times, like, ‘Man, why is my p— coming out slow? Why is my stream ain’t powerful? Why is [it] a little weak?’ Like, I’m asking these questions because now my – my father has went through something, and now I know that if the man who birthed me brought me here is going through this, it...

Hudson Thames, who voices the titular web-slinger in the upcoming Disney+ show “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,” recently shared some worries he had about leading Marvel’s latest animated series.
While speaking with Collider, Thames said his “biggest fear” was that “Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man” would be “annoying and woke,” but ended up thinking the show was “awesome” after reading the script.
“I thought it was awesome. I mean, my biggest fear was that it was gonna be annoying and woke, and it wasn’t,” Thames said. “I was like, ‘Yes, this is great, it’s so well written,’ like it feels real. I’m the oldest of five boys, so I feel like I kind of know what’s happening in their lives and in high school, and it felt like it was doing that justice.”

Written words are the most powerful and influential tools of all time, whether it is advocating for a cause or challenging perspectives of a varied nature. Since time immemorial, authorities have used the method of banning certain literature that seeks to change the status quo or prevalent norms, essentially to preserve the ongoing state of affairs.

These methods are even present today and actively used, even in the land of free, the United States. The state of Florida in particular seems to have a bone to pick with the acclaimed writer Stephen King, given how over 50 of his books are banned in Florida schools.

Carrie Underwood attained fame after winning American Idol Season 4. In 2025, she’s returning to the show as a judge for the first time, and fans can’t wait to see her judge competitors on the series. In January 2025, Underwood received backlash for choosing to perform at the second inauguration of Donald Trump. While rumors suggested that ABC was not happy with her decision, a source says her inauguration performance did not jeopardize her gig with Idol.

If Matt Gaetz actually does campaign to become governor of Florida, Jimmy Fallon has some ideas for him.
Fallon led with “Don’t Google Me,” which earned a big laugh from his audience on Wednesday night. That was followed by “Make Botox Great Again” — a reference to the rumors about Gaetz’s changed appearance — and “Not Not On-Brand for Florida.” All three of these fake slogans were accompanied by the same unflattering photo of Gaetz.
On Tuesday, Gaetz told The Tampa Bay Times, “I have a compelling vision for the state.” A day later, he then confirmed to The New York Times that he had spoken to President-elect Donald Trump about a possible bid for governor. Florida’s gubernatorial election will take place in November of 2026 as the current governor, Ron DeSantis, is term-limited. DeSantis was elected in both 2018 and 2022.

Disgraced former congressman Matt Gaetz is openly contemplating the possibility of running for Senate and trying to fill the Florida Senate seat that may be vacated by Sen. Marco Rubio, whom Trump has tapped to be his secretary of state.

When Iowa evangelical leader Bob Vander Plaats endorsed Ron DeSantis in his ultimately fruitless bid for the Republican presidential nomination, Donald Trump accused the Florida governor of buying the endorsement.
Trump questioned whether DeSantis had committed “a major Campaign Finance Violation by paying for… Bob Vander Plaats’ useless endorsement.” He separately wrote: “I don’t believe anything Bob Vander Plaats says. Anyone who would take $95,000, and then endorse a Candidate who is going nowhere, is not what Elections are all about!”

Over the past two years, Rep. Jared Moskowitz (D-Fla.) built a national profile antagonizing Republican lawmakers as they sought to investigate President Joe Biden and his family. Moskowitz could soon go back to his roots — leading a right-wing administration’s disaster relief efforts — though he says he intends to stay in Congress.
According to CNN, Moskowitz is a top contender to lead the Federal Emergency Management Agency in Donald Trump’s second administration. He previously performed a similar role in Florida for Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, and promptly cashed in.

Politico has hired NBC News correspondent Dasha Burns as its White House bureau chief.
Burns, who reported on the Trump campaign in the recent election, has been with the network for eight years, starting as associate producer.
Politico’s global editor in chief John Harris wrote in a memo to staffers, “As a national correspondent for NBC News, Dasha gained widespread attention for her in-depth reporting during the 2022 U.S. midterm elections. Her exclusive interview with Pennsylvania Senate candidate John Fetterman sparked a national conversation about health and transparency in politics, cementing her reputation as a tenacious, fair, and incisive journalist. Dasha’s ability to bring complex stories to life in ways that are urgent, distinctive and relevant aligns perfectly with Politico’s mission to provide readers with unparalleled depth and breadth of coverage.”
Harris noted that during the 2024 campaign, Burns led coverage of the July assassination attempt on Trump’s life.

Updated: With reports that Donald Trump is eyeing potential alternatives to Pete Hegseth as defense secretary, some of the former Fox & Friends Weekend host’s colleagues attempted to give him a boost.
Hegseth’s nomination faces new doubts in the wake of media reports about alleged drinking episodes, financial mismanagement and the settlement of a woman’s claim that he sexually assaulted her.
Hegseth’s mother Penelope appeared on Fox & Friends this morning and blasted The New York Times for publishing a leaked 2018 email in which she wrote to her son that they were “broken by your behavior and your lack of character.” Fox & Friends host Steve Doocy read a portion of the email during her appearance.
“He is not that man he was seven years ago,” she said. “I am not that mother, and I hope people will hear that story today and the truth of that story.”

Pete Hegseth is attempting to defend himself against a slew of misconduct allegations that threaten his nomination as Donald Trump’s Secretary of Defense — with some help from his mom.
Penelope Hegseth appeared on Fox & Friends on Wednesday to defend her son’s nomination and counteract the damage done by the public release of a 2018 email in which she called him an “abuser of women,” and decried his treatment of his second wife during their divorce.
Pete Hegseth was a Fox News host for years before Trump nominated him to lead the Pentagon.

Talk about a surprising turn of events. It seems as though Donald Trump is now getting close to some of his past political foes and for a good reason, too. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
Is Donald Trump Now Getting Close To Some Of His Former Political Foes?
According to the latest reports, Trump nominated Florida Senator Marco Rubio to be the U.S. Secretary of State.
Let’s not forget that this is the same Marco Rubio who made fun of the size of Trump’s hands during a debate back in 2016.
“It is my Great Honor to announce that Senator Marco Rubio, of Florida, is hereby nominated to be The United States Secretary of State,” Trump said in his statement.

“F*ck Donald Trump” may not be the message the Walt Disney Company wants its Snow White star putting out there right now.
But that’s what they’ve got, even as Rachel Zegler tries to walk it back.
In now deleted posts on Instagram, Zegler slammed the former and future president for his November 5 election win over Kamala Harris as “a deep sickness in this country.” The alum of Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, who is currently on Broadway in Romeo + Juliet, went on to lament “the sheer amount of people who showed up for this man who threatens our democracy.”
“It is terrifying the number of people who stand behind what this man preaches,” Zegler added in what seems to be posts made during the performance of the Shakespeare play in New York late last week. “It is a foolish subscription to a false sense of security,...

Update: It’s official! Florida Senator Marco Rubio has been selected to be Donald Trump’s new Secretary of State. Also, former Democratic Congresswoman and veteran Tulsi Gabbard has been picked to be the Director of National Intelligence on what is turning out to be a busy day for the Trump transition.
Rumored over the past two days, the announcement by the 45th and soon-to-be 47th Potus came as Trump was in DC Wednesday visiting Joe Biden, and House and Senate Republicans.
“He will be a strong Advocate for our Nation, a true friend to our Allies, and a fearless Warrior who will never back down to our adversaries,” Trump said of the senior Sunshine State senator he once mocked as “Little Marco” in the 2016 bid for the GOP nomination. “I look forward to working with Marco to Make America, and the World, Safe and Great Again!”

Donald Trump on Thursday named his campaign manager Susie Wiles as his next White House chief of staff, the first major position that the president-elect has announced since his election Tuesday.
Trump said in a statement, “Susie Wiles just helped me achieve one of the greatest political victories in American history, and was an integral part of both my 2016 and 2020 successful campaigns. Susie is tough, smart, innovative, and is universally admired and respected. Susie will continue to work tirelessly to Make America Great Again. It is a well deserved honor to have Susie as the first-ever female Chief of Staff in United States history. I have no doubt that she will make our country proud.”

Gavin Newsom is convening a special session of the state Legislature next month to “protect California values” amid the incoming administration of Donald Trump.
The special session, set to start on December 2, will focus on boosting state legal resources and funding to protect civil rights, reproductive freedom, climate action and immigrant families, Newsom’s office said in a statement. That includes state litigation as well as federal lawsuits “aimed at undermining California’s laws and policies.”
“This is the first of several actions by the Newsom administration, in partnership with the Legislature, as the governor begins shoring up California’s defenses against an incoming federal administration that has threatened the state on multiple fronts,” the governor’s office said.
It’s also a signal that Newsom plans to be one of Trump’s most high-profile Democratic foes. On Wednesday, Newsom released a statement in which he said: “Federalism is the cornerstone of our democracy.

Gavin Newsom wants the newly reelected Donald Trump to know California has a line, and the former president better think twice about crossing it when he returns to the White House next year.
Waiting until Vice President Kamala Harris delivered her concession speech this afternoon in Washington DC, the Governor praised his longtime political ally and, at the same time, gave the newly minted president-elect a warning.
“Vice President Kamala Harris set out to fight to defend our fundamental freedoms and build a country that works for everyone,” Newsom said Wednesday of Harris and her short lived campaign for the White House. “She stood up for working families, decency, and opportunity. Though this is not the outcome we wanted, our fight for freedom and opportunity endures.”

In the years since the federal right to abortion was struck down by the Supreme Court’s conservative majority in 2022, no measure seeking to protect abortion (or to reject new restrictions) had ever lost at the ballot box. That winning streak ended on Tuesday, as Amendment 4, which would have enshrined the right to access abortion in Florida, and ensure access across the South, fell just short of its 60 percent threshold. For now, Florida’s six-week abortion ban will remain in effect.

It’s official! Donald Trump has been elected the 47th President of the United States. This will be Trump’s second time taking the nation’s highest office with a stunning win over Vice President Kamala Harris after a contentious campaign. He previously defeated Hillary Clinton in the electoral college in the 2016 election. The results were officially called shortly after 5:30am Et on Wednesday, November 6 when news networks declared Trump winner of Wisconsin to make him President-elect and send him back to the White House. His electoral college vote total reached 276 with Harris stood at 217, and unable to catch him in the polls. Donald Trump first declared his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election for the Republican party again immediately after he lost (though did not concede victory) to Joe Biden in 2020 and left the White House in January 2021. Though he did face several primary challengers from top GOP names...

The winning streak has come to an end. For the first time since the Supreme Court ended a federal right to abortion in 2022, voters have rejected a ballot measure seeking to enshrine the right to an abortion in a state constitution — even as a solid majority of Floridians voted to approve the measure.
It was always going to be a tall order: Florida requires at least 60 percent support for proposals amending the state constitution — the highest threshold for any measure that has gone before voters in the past two years.

Following Hurricane Milton‘s destructive path, the U.S. Coast Guard rescued a man 30 miles off the coast of Florida on Thursday. The man was clinging to a water cooler to stay afloat.
The Coast Guard Air Station Miami spotted the ship captain floating in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico, clutching a water cooler. A chopper rescued him.
This was the second rescue of the week. On Monday, the coastguard was alerted by the captain of the fishing vessel ‘Captain Dave’ that he and another crew member were ‘disabled’ off Madeira Beach, 20 miles from the coast. The two men were rescued via helicopter in “good condition,” but Captain Dave was deserted.

It looks like someone is taking two steps back before she tries to take two steps forward again.
Kamala Harris has just admitted that she might have tried to throw this popular governor under the bus. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
Kamala Harris Admits She Tried To Throw This Governor Under The Bus
According to the latest reports, Kamala Harris appears to admit she has never called Ron DeSantis regarding hurricane assistance until the most recent hurricane
The comment comes after DeSantis ripped Kamala for doing nothing over the past four years. “She has no role in this. In fact, she’s been vice president for three and a half years,” DeSantis said.
“I’ve dealt with a number of storms under this administration. She has never contributed anything to any of these efforts.”

Hurricane Milton damaged the roof of Tropicana Field, home of the Tampa Bay Rays. The Category 3 storm’s high winds tore off the domed roof’s fabric.
No injuries at the stadium were reported and the fire department made contact with those who remained safely inside. Before Milton’s landfall, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) announced plans for the stadium to serve as a “temporary base camp” to support debris cleanup operations and house first responders. However, these plans were canceled due to concerns that the roof would not withstand the winds.
“They were relocated,” DeSantis said of the people and resources inside the stadium during a conference on Thursday. “Tropicana Field is a routine staging area for these things. The roof on that, I think it’s rated for 110 miles-per-hour and so the forecast changes, but as it became clear that there was going to be something of that...

Updated at 3:25 p.m. Pt: Hurricane Milton has moved on, but the storm left lasting damage across Florida, with 13 confirmed deaths (according to CNN) close to three million without power, the roof ripped off the Tampa Bay Rays’ stadium and much more.
On Florida’s east coast, Tampa Bay was spared the storm’s worst hit. While it got nearly a foot of rain from Milton, because it was on the northern side of landfall what was once projected to be a 10-15 foot storm surge turned into a reverse storm surge with the counterclockwise rotation pushing water out of the bay.
Just a few miles south, St. Petersburg was not so lucky. The area saw 18.87 inches of rain from Milton, the most in the state. Winds there topped out at 101 mph. The storm killed at least two residents and tore the roof off the Tampa Bay Devil Rays...

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Thursday that initial assessments showed the state was spared the “worst case scenario” from Hurricane Milton, even though there was substantial damage.
“The storm was significant, but thankfully this was not the worst-case scenario,” DeSantis said at a briefing this morning, adding that the hurricane weakened before landfall.
“Definitely the surge did not reach Helene levels,” the governor said.
DeSantis said that Sarasota County had the most significant storm surge, between 8-10 feet, compared to Hurricane Helene, which had 15-20 feet in some areas.
At least four people were killed, the AP reported, while media outlets reported that more than 3 million were without power.
The center of Milton was pulling away from the state this morning, but there were still strong gusty winds and heavy rainfall in the area around Cape Canaveral, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Hurricane Milton made landfall with Florida on Wednesday night, with several powerful tornados ripping through the southern state ahead of the hurricane’s impact. The Associated Press reports that more than 130 tornado warnings connected to Hurricane Milton were issued by the National Weather Services offices in Florida.

The White House continued its briefings on the threat of Hurricane Milton as it heads toward central Florida, with President Joe Biden also decrying the spread of misinformation about the response and recovery.
“For the last few weeks, there’s been a reckless, irresponsible, relentless promotion of disinformation and outright lies that are disturbing people,” Biden said today. “It’s undermining confidence in the incredible rescue and recovery work that has already been taken and will continue to be taken. It’s harmful to those who need help most.”
He singled out Donald Trump, saying that he “has led the onslaught of lies.” That includes “assertions that property is being confiscated. That’s simply not true. They’re saying people impacted by these storms will receive $750 in cash and no more. That’s simply not true. They’re saying the money that is needed for this crisis is being diverted to migrants.

“One of the best ways to communicate with people,” Vice President Kamala Harris said in her appearance on the podcast “Call Her Daddy,” “is to be real.”
She was responding to a direct — and fair — question from podcast host Alex Cooper: Why had Harris, having done only two extensive interviews so far in her brief and intense run for the presidency, decided to appear on this show? “Call Her Daddy” was the first of a brief and intense burst of media interviews Harris had done this week, which also included “60 Minutes,” “The View,” “The Howard Stern Show,” and “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.” And throughout, Harris sought to rapidly fix what has been a career-long challenge — defining what has been a hazy image.

She probably didn’t expect for it to end up this way. There’s a new report that suggests Kamala Harris might have picked the wrong time to have a fight with the wrong person right before one of the biggest hurricanes that the country has seen in a long time. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
Kamala Harris Picks A Fight Right Before Hurricane Milton
According to the latest reports, Kamala Harris told reporters that Ron DeSantis was being selfish and ‘utterly irresponsible’ for not taking her call regarding Hurricane Milton.
Hours later, Ron DeSantis says in her 3 and a half years in office, Kamala Harris hasn’t called him once to offer assistance.
The Florida governor said, “She has no role in this. In fact, she’s been vice president for three and a half years.”
“I’ve dealt with a number of storms under this administration.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is putting the full weight of the Florida government behind an effort to defeat a ballot measure that would protect abortion access in the state — including by enlisting government lawyers in a campaign to silence a young mother with terminal brain cancer who is warning of the danger Florida’s strict ban poses to women like her.
This November, Florida residents will have the opportunity to vote on Amendment 4; if passed, the measure will enshrine the right to abortion “before viability or when necessary to protect...

Florida officials continue to implore residents to evacuate as Hurricane Milton nears landfall Wednesday, with Gov. Ron DeSantis saying on Tuesday that “time is running out” for residents to protect themselves from the deadly storm.
“You have time today. Time is running out,” DeSantis said Tuesday, as NBC News reports. “But you do have time today to heed any evacuation orders and do what you need to do to protect yourself and our families.”
Experts are planning for the worst as Milton — a Category 4 hurricane — is expected to reach landfall by Wednesday night.

Update, with video: Kamala Harris made her first appearance on The View as Democratic presidential nominee, in a very friendly setting where she outlined some of her policy priorities and got a chance to respond to rival Donald Trump’s falsehoods about the administration’s hurricane response.
“It is the height of irresponsibility and frankly, callousness,” Harris said of Trump’s claims that Fema funds were being directed to migrants, among other things.
“Lives are literally at stake right now,” she said, adding that Trump was “playing political games for the sake of himself.”
Harris also commented on the oncoming Hurricane Milton, which is threatening central Florida, and the claim by the state’s governor, Ron DeSantis, who said this morning that she has never called regarding any of the storms until now. She has called him “selfish” for not taking the call.

Vice President Kamala Harris chastised Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis for “playing political games,” following reports that DeSantis did not take the vice president’s calls regarding hurricane relief.
“You know, moments of crisis, if nothing else, should really be the moment that anyone who calls themselves a leader says they’re gonna put politics aside and put the people first,” Harris told reporters gathered at Joint Base Andrew in Maryland as she departed for New York Monday.

Disney World and Universal Orlando are in the path of Hurricane Milton, and preparations are already under way. Ahead of Milton making landfall on Wednesday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency that includes several counties, including Orange County — the home of Orlando’s theme parks.
The Orlando International Airport (McO) will suspend operations ahead of Milton’s arrival on Wednesday, further complicating travelers getting to and from Disney World and Universal Orlando Resort.
Hurricane Milton is rapidly intensifying as it barrels toward central Florida, now reaching a powerful Category 5 status. Over the past 24 hours, Milton’s winds have surged dramatically, skyrocketing by over 85 mph to hit 160 mph as of Monday, October 7th. This extreme intensification has meteorologists sounding the alarm, as the storm’s potential for devastation grows with every passing hour. Imani (Jasmine Davis) was a recurring character in The Chi, but she suddenly left the show after season 4 and hasn't been back on since. First introduced in season 3, episode 5, "Terror Town", Imani is a transgender woman who becomes Trig's (Luke James) girlfriend in The Chi. Davis ended up appearing in 13 episodes across seasons 3 and 4 and, with Trig being elevated to a series regular in season 4, it followed that Imani would likely get some more screen time as well. However, Imani never appeared in the cast of The Chi season 5 or season 6.
Imani's last episode ended up being season 4, episode 10, "A Raisin in the Sun" and the character hasn't been back since. It's a shame considering her interesting story. Imani was assigned male at birth, but identified as a woman from a very young age. Sadly, her father never accepted that part of her and even tried to kill Imani when...
