Disney CEO Bob Iger is nothing if not a shrewd operator, and he’s certainly seen which way the wind is blowing in the American political and cultural landscape.

Not long after approving a $15m settlement that convicted criminal and US President Donald Trump had slapped on ABC News, Iger has now issued a raft of changes to the way Disney does business. It puts Disney in line with Trump’s demands, which he’s been introducing since the businessman accused of serious sexual assault made if back into the White House.

One of those changes (per World Of Reel) is the removal of all trigger warnings from Disney’s library of classic films on its Disney+ platform.

Disney is changing its overall strategy toward diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives as the federal government says it will investigate what it believes to be illegal practices by public companies. One of the first changes is coming to Disney+.

Disney+ regularly includes content warnings ahead of older, classic films in its library, including movies like “Dumbo,” “The Aristocats,” “Peter Pan,” and others. Those content warnings that pre-roll before the movie are being tweaked, arguably softened, an individual with knowledge of the changes told IndieWire. The language previously read that these films contain “negative depictions and/or mistreatment of peoples or cultures.” It will now read this: “This program is presented as originally created and may contain stereotypes or negative depictions.”

In a move to try and ensure that it doesn’t wind up in the crosshairs of the Trump administration’s campaign against diversity, equity and inclusion programs, Disney appears to be rolling back some of its Dei efforts.

Gavin Newsom is convening a special session of the state Legislature next month to “protect California values” amid the incoming administration of Donald Trump.

The special session, set to start on December 2, will focus on boosting state legal resources and funding to protect civil rights, reproductive freedom, climate action and immigrant families, Newsom’s office said in a statement. Following Hurricane Milton‘s destructive path, the U.S. Coast Guard rescued a man 30 miles off the coast of Florida on Thursday. The man was clinging to a water cooler to stay afloat.

The Coast Guard Air Station Miami spotted the ship captain floating in the middle of the Gulf of Mexico, clutching a water cooler. A chopper rescued him.

This was the second rescue of the week. On Monday, the coastguard was alerted by the captain of the fishing vessel ‘Captain Dave’ that he and another crew member were ‘disabled’ off Madeira Beach, 20 miles from the coast. The two men were rescued via helicopter in “good condition,” but Captain Dave was deserted.

No injuries at the stadium were reported and the fire department made contact with those who remained safely inside. Before Milton’s landfall, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) announced plans for the stadium to serve as a “temporary base camp” to support debris cleanup operations and house first responders. On Florida’s east coast, Tampa Bay was spared the storm’s worst hit. While it got nearly a foot of rain from Milton, because it was on the northern side of landfall what was once projected to be a 10-15 foot storm surge turned into a reverse storm surge with the counterclockwise rotation pushing water out of the bay.

Just a few miles south, St. Petersburg was not so lucky. The area saw 18.87 inches of rain from Milton, the most in the state. Winds there topped out at 101 mph. The storm killed at least two residents and tore the roof off the Tampa Bay Devil Rays...

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said Thursday that initial assessments showed the state was spared the “worst case scenario” from Hurricane Milton, even though there was substantial damage.

“The storm was significant, but thankfully this was not the worst-case scenario,” DeSantis said at a briefing this morning, adding that the hurricane weakened before landfall.

“Definitely the surge did not reach Helene levels,” the governor said.

Hurricane Milton made landfall with Florida on Wednesday night, with several powerful tornados ripping through the southern state ahead of the hurricane’s impact. The Associated Press reports that more than 130 tornado warnings connected to Hurricane Milton were issued by the National Weather Services offices in Florida.

The hurricane hit Florida as a Category 3 storm with winds of over 100 mph, ultimately landing in Siesta Key, which is south of Tampa. Destruction and flooding was widespread along Florida’s west coast and central region, including in Tampa and St.

The White House continued its briefings on the threat of Hurricane Milton as it heads toward central Florida, with President Joe Biden also decrying the spread of misinformation about the response and recovery.

“For the last few weeks, there’s been a reckless, irresponsible, relentless promotion of disinformation and outright lies that are disturbing people,” Biden said today. “It’s undermining confidence in the incredible rescue and recovery work that has already been taken and will continue to be taken.
