Bougainvillea, directed by Amal Neerad and starring Kunchacko Boban, Jyothirmayi, and Fahadh Faasil, was released in theaters on 17th October. The psychological slasher crime thriller is now set for its Ott debut.

The movie will be available to stream on SonyLIV. The premiere will commence on December 13th. This Ott release comes almost two months after the theatrical premiere. The film starred Jayasurya in the lead role with Vijay Babu, Vinayakan, Saiju Kurup, Vineeth Mohan, Srinda Ashab, Sunny Wayne, Renji Panicker, Sandra Thomas and others in the supporting role. Though the film failed to rake in collections at the box office, it was critically acclaimed. To make up for the losses at the box office, the same team went ahead with a sequel, Aadu 2, which was released during the Christmas season of 2017 started off its magnificent run in the theatres and did extend its grand run towards the first half of January. This film made up for the commercial loss of its prequel and now the filmmakers are contemplating on going ahead with Aadu 3. The film’s producer Vijay Babu is reported to have told in an interview that Aadu 3 might be a 3D film and more details will be out shortly. Aadu 2, which released on December 22nd last year, is still continuing to run at some centers in Kerala making it clear that it is box office winner. It has Jayasurya, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Saiju Kurup, Vineeth Mohan, Bhagath Manuel, Vijay Babu, Vinayakan and Nelson Sooranad in the star cast. Shaan Rahman had composed tunes for this flick while Vishnu Narayan wielded the camera and Lijo Jose edited it. The film was bankrolled by Vijay Babu under his banner FridayFilm House. In the Aadu franchise, Jayasurya plays Shaji Pappan and each film would revolve around a different episode in his life. With Aadu not being a commercial success and its sequel making up for the losses, now movie buffs wait in anticipation to know what the team would come up with in Aadu 3.

Though this is not the first time he will be seen playing a politician, the mega star’s fans are always eager to see him play the role. He has previously played the politician in the 1991 release Nayam Vyakthamakunnu, which was written and directed by Balachandra Menon and produced by R Mohan. Also, in 1995, he was seen playing a similar role in the Tamil movie Makkal Atchi, which was directed by Rk Selvamani. After all these years, the star is set to don the politician role and this time around, Santhosh Viswanath will be wielding the megaphone. To be scripted by the acclaimed writers Bobby and Sanjay, the film is touted to go on to the floors in March next year. Santhosh Vishawananth had directed the spoof film Chirakodinja Kinavukal a couple of years ago and it starred Sreenivasan, Kunchacko Boban, Rima Kallingal, Joy Mathew, Srinda Ashab and Manoj K Jayan. The film was bankrolled by Listin Stephen under his banner Magic Frames. Meanwhile, Mammootty’s Masterpiece had hit the silver screens on December 21 and is cashing on the long Christmas weekend. He is currently busy with the Shamdat Zainudheen directorial Streetlights, which is due for release on January 26th next year. The star also has a slew of movies in his kitty including Uncle, Parole and Peranbu, which are all slated for release at regular intervals next year. With news about Mammootty associating with director Santhosh Vishawananth and script writers Sanjay and Bobby, there are huge expectations on this project. Bobby and Sanjay, the award winning script writers, are currently busy with the Nivin Pauly starrer Kayamkulam Kochunni, which is being directed by Rosshan Andrews.
