Zinnia Kumar is an Australian Fashion Model and Scientist.
She is the first Indian model to cover Vogue Australia, and the first Ecologist to cover any edition of Vogue in 128 years. Her front covers, work with premium luxury brands such as Dior, Miu Miu, Chanel and Chopard, appearance on red carpet best dressed lists and features in publications such as Forbes, Time, Harpers Bazaar, Porter, More or Less and Vogue are a culmination of her interwoven essence in the people, planet and fashion space. Alongside fashion, Zinnia began her career as a conservation ecologist working in the Australian outback with penguins and birds. Following her passion and curiosity between the interplay of human culture and the environment, she delved into researching the Environment, Human Evolutionary Biology and Psychology and is today an alum of University of New South Wales, University College of London and University of Oxford.
Today, Zinnia unify's her work as a fashion model with mixed media science communication, that fearlessly intersects environmental issues (e.g conservation and sustainability), mental health (e.g Eco-anxiety and burnout), empowerment, diversity, inclusion and social belonging. To date, amongst her research, journalism and podcasts she has given keynotes at political, professional and fashion forums such as G20, Fashion Institute of Technology, Harvard Medical School, Vogue, Cancer Council, Australasian Evolution Society, Vogue Business Fashion Environment Summit, Design Council UK, Australian Museum, The Australian, Global Fashion Agenda Copenhagen Fashion Summit among others.
A force for positive change, she puts her multifaceted expertise into practice as a psychologist, consultant and mentor at her own firm The Dotted Line. In her down time she likes to continue her bird conservation work as a volunteer for Wildlife information, rescue and education service.
