Jordan Bolger (“This Town”) and Max Fincham (“Invasion”) have been cast as the leads in upcoming Netflix drama “The Witness.”

Based on the true story of the violent murder of Rachel Nickell in 1992 in front of her two year-old son Alex while walking through a London park, “The Witness” explores the aftermath of the tragedy, which also saw an innocent man wrongly convicted before the real killer was eventually caught more than 15 years later.

In the meantime, Nickell’s partner André Hanscombe was left to navigate life alone with the couple’s infant son.

Bolger will play André while Fincham will play a teenage Alex. The real André and Alex Hanscombe consulted on the series.

Exclusive: British drama Dark Money has been snapped up by streaming service Bet+.

The ViacomCBS-owned digital platform will air the four-part drama, which originally aired on the BBC, from January 16.

Paramount Pictures has launched the trailer for ‘Blue Story’, a film highlighting the troubles British youth’s face on the streets of London.

Written and directed by Rapman, the story depicts elements of Rapman’s own personal experiences and aspects of his childhood. The messages he aims to send through his works are positive ones, aimed at inspiring kids from difficult backgrounds to turn away from local gangs.

Stephen Odubola (The Legend Of Tarzan), Micheal Ward (Top Boy), Khali Best, Max Fincham, Kadeem Ramsay, Karla-Simone Spence (Wannabe) and Eric Kofi-Abrefa all star.

In today’s film news roundup, New Line’s Misty Copeland biopic moves ahead, Rapman’s “Blue Story” is becoming a feature film and “Muriel’s Wedding” is getting a 25th anniversary showing.

New Line has hired “Tall Girl” helmer Nzingha Stewart to direct its feature adaptation of Misty Copeland’s biography “Life in Motion: An Unlikely Ballerina.”

Copeland was the first African American woman to be promoted to principal dancer with the American Ballet Theatre. Michelle Rosenfarb is writing the screenplay.

Producers are Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot from Offspring Entertainment, and Philip Sandhaus. Stewart is currently in production on the film “Tall Girl” for Netflix and served as executive producer on Lionsgate’s “For Colored Girls.”

UK artist/director Rapman, a.k.a Andrew Onwubolu, is set to direct Blue Story, a feature film which he also wrote based on his short video trilogy of the same name. Paramount Pictures acquired the worldwide distribution rights and is aiming to release the pic sometime this year. BBC Films developed and co-financed the project, which will film at locations in South London.

Damian Jones of DJ Films and Joy Gharoro-Akpojotor of Joi Productions are producing the film, while Charles Moore and Paul Grindey of Viewfinder, Rose Garnett and Eva Yates of BBC Films, and Rapman will serve as executive producers.
