As a movie fan, I thought this was a funny movie. Morgan broke up his McDonald's binge diet with interviews and other footage, including going into schools, surgery, and his medical exams.
But on a more personal level, I can't help but feel a little guilty. I'm overweight and I'm doing some of the things that the other McDonald's employees, in the movie, did. I still ask if you want to Super Size (or now we are supposed to say Upsize though I still say Super Size - whatever, just as long as suggestive sales are still happening), and I very seldomly ask if people want to switch the fries with a side salad, partially because I am lazy - I'm the one that makes the salads {side and bacon ranch} in our particular restaurant. I've done supersizing on kids who looked like they should be going outside and running around.
I really could identify with the Big Mac guy. He seemed to be relatively healthy and not terribly overweight. He eats the sandwiches and rarely eats the French Fries. I am like this as well. I eat a sandwich in my break, and a small Coke or Fruitopia, while I drink water throughout the rest of the shift, unless I really, really need a caffeine fix (hey, the pop is free so I can do whatever I choose). I never touch the fries, even though it would be so easy to eat a whole bunch every day. With just the sandwich as my lunch, and an afternoon snack of carrot sticks, a cheese slice, a couple chips, or a salad that I made at home (not a McDonald's salad - I already said that I'm lazy), my being on my feet during the shifts, and biking and walking to get around, I am gradually losing weight.
I also identified with the school lunches. When I went to university, I lived in a dorm where they provided the food for us, and we weren't allowed to have stuff like hot plates or microwaves in our rooms (fire regulations). I gained so much weight then. The food was awful. I made lunch my big meal because they tried harder to make it better because faculty would eat lunch there but not at supper because they went home by that time. Let me put it this way, the meatloaf was horrible but you ate it because there was no guarantee that the chicken was cooked properly, and steamed vegetables aren't supposed to be greasy.
All in all, this entertaining movie struck so many chords in my life. I think I'm going to take a super long bike ride tomorrow.
