I first saw this film on TV on a Saturday afternoon when I was a kid. It's a great indie.
On the surface, this film looks like Nazi zombies killing off a few people who become shipwrecked. But there is more to it though I don't know if the writer intended it.
Water represents the unconscious -- there is much below the surface which we are not aware. The SS soldiers in Shock Waves have lived quietly under the water since the end of WWII. They live on in the collective unconscious of people today and will continue to live on as long as humans exist. But in Shock Waves, they start to surface -- become part of the conscious to carry on to do what must be done with a vengeance.
