This is an interesting film in that it seems to have copied a play onto film, with a few scenes outdoors. The acting is good, with a small cast doing their best in stagey settings. The main problem is that although the film does have plenty of title cards to keep your understanding of what is happening, what makes a play is the interaction & dialogue between characters, which a silent film lacks.
I cannot say I had heard of any of the cast, or female director, who seems to have done nothing really after this film. I expect they were mostly stage actors. The only one who seems to have made a career, was the girl playing the daughter.
Although well made, this is hard to really get into, though is worth a look if you like looking at old cinema.
