The original Broadway production of "Dangerous Corner" by J.B. Priestley opened at the Empire Theatre on October 27, 1932 and ran for 206 performances. The cast included Colin Keith-Johnston, Stanley Ridges (Charles Stanton), Jean Dixon (Freda Chatfield) and Barbara Robbins (Betty Whitehouse).
The enforcement of the recently adopted rigidity of the Production Code eliminated key elements that made the original play so much more riveting, i.e. Martin's drug addiction and Gordon's infatuation with Martin which was the cause of his unhappy marriage to Betty.
The lead character from the play, Olwin Peel, was renamed Ann Beale for this film adaptation.
