Prolific director Robert Eggers has chosen his next project, and this time he will be venturing back in time to the Middle Ages as he tackles werewolves.
According to an exclusive from The Hollywood Reporter, the esteemed Nosferatu director wants to progress from vampires and witchcraft to their mythological cousin in his next project titled Werwulf. He will re-team with his collaborator on The Northman, Icelandic screenwriter and poet Sjón, for this film.
The outlet reports that this project was initially going to be filmed in black-and-white, but that idea has since been dropped. It wouldn't have been the first time Eggers made a black-and-white movie, as that honor goes to The Lighthouse. But Werwulf will have a unique twist in that Eggers intends to feature "dialogue that was true to the time period," using translations and annotations for the "uninitiated in Old English."

Presented by Steven C. Miller’s Werewolves, Bloody Disgusting is looking to the stars and howling at the moon with Werewolves Week. Today, Luiz H.C. explores the evolution of the werewolf/wolfman throughout cinema history.
Werewolf stories are much, much older than most folks seem to realize, with some of the earliest examples of lycanthropy dating all the way back to ancient Greece (though some scholars argue that wolfmen were already present in the Epic of Gilgamesh). That’s why I’ve always found it fascinating that much of what we’d consider to be the basis for modern werewolf mythology and iconography was actually made up by genre filmmakers.
From full moon transformations to pentagrams marking potential victims, werewolf lore is continuously being expanded by screenwriters attempting to make sense of thousands of years of oral tradition. And in honor of Steven C. Miller’s Werewolves in theaters...

The Orlando park wars are about to kick up, as Universal has announced when their new Epic Universe park opens! How will Disney counter this?
For over 30 years, the Disney-Universal Orlando theme park battle has been a boon for the state and theme park lovers. It all started in the mid-1980s when Universal announced plans for a new version of Universal Studios in Orlando. Disney countered it by having the Disney-mgm Studios open a year before Universal Studios did.
For most of the 1990s, Disney easily had the advantage with more parks, hotels, and overall fun. That changed in 1999 when Universal expanded its Islands of Adventure park, offering more thrill rides to entice older guests. They also opened their CityWalk dining/entertainment district and more resorts.
That kicked Disney up to open attractions in every park and still maintained an edge. It was helped by some bungling at Universal...

Werewolf By Night, Marvel Studios' first ever Special presentation, debuted on Disney+ in 2022, and opened the door to a whole new corner of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that's yet to be further explored.
The black-and-white Halloween Special really was a first for the franchise, paying homage to the classic Universal monster movies with its noirish style, creepy atmosphere and heightened levels of violence.
Werewolf By Night introduced several new characters such as Elsa Bloodstone (Laura Donnelly) Ted, aka Man-Thing (Carey Jones), and the titular lycanthrope himself, Jack Russell (Gael García Bernal), and fans have been eager for an update on their potential return.
Director Michael Giacchino previously confirmed that discussions about doing more with the characters have taken place, but it sounds like any plans for a follow-up episode have been put on the back-burner.
"There's been a lot going on in the industry and everyone sort of recalibrating. I...

Universal Orlando is planning to unveil a new, game-changing theme park called Universal Epic Universe in 2025, and this park is going to be split into five separate, “vibrant worlds filled with extraordinary adventures that go beyond their wildest imaginations.” Also contained within these worlds will be around 50 dining, shopping, and entertainment experiences. The worlds that will make up the Epic Universe are Celestial Park, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Ministry of Magic, Super Nintendo World, How To Train Your Dragon: Isle of Berk, and the Universal Monster-themed Dark Universe. Universal has given a preview of the Dark Universe land by sharing an animated tour video, which can be seen in the embed above, and a batch of photos, which we have shared below (with thanks to Deadline).

The werewolf, loup-garou, and the Lycanthrope are back in the brilliant thought-provoking film Wolfkin . Coming from the rich tradition of fiction such as Guy Endore’s 1933 seminal novel The Werewolf of Paris and the 1896 story The Were-wolf by Clemence Housman, this film is in my opinion an essential new addition to the werewolf film canon.
You can lump this film into the abyss of Folk Horror yet its just plain simple a damn good film from top to end credits because it tells an essential human story. Wolfkin (2022) a.k.a. Kommunioun is a Luxembourgian/French/Belgium production; directed by Jacques Molitor. The picture is elegantly shot and paced with true mastery and restraint, as does befit the subject matter of extreme, old-world control and remedy for the modern, uncontrolled animalistic urges.
Taking a cue from Hammer’s The Curse of the Werewolf (1961), Wolfkin (2022) reverses the fact that in that film,...

Movie legend Ridley Scott and Avatar director James Cameron both played a part in making the Alien franchise the iconic films they are today. There was speculation about the two teaming up to revisit the successful series. But Alien vs. Predator stood in the way of that team-up.

Alien vs. Predator was the fifth film in the Alien franchise. As the title suggests, the feature would pit two classic sci-fi horror creatures together in a blockbuster cinematic bout. It was a premise that Scott was against from the beginning.
“I think Alien vs. Predator was a daft idea,” Scott once told The Hollywood Reporter. “And I’m not sure it did very well or not, I don’t know. But it somehow brought down the beast. And I said to them,...

Riki Lindhome (Another Period) is set as a series regular opposite Amy Poehler in Fox’s animated family comedy Duncanville, from Poehler and her Paper Kite Productions, The Simpsons veteran Mike Scully and his wife, former Simpsons writer-producer Julie Scully, 20th Century Fox TV and Universal TV. It’s slated to premiere during the 2019-20 season.
Written by Mike and Julie Scully, Duncanville centers on Duncan (voiced by Poehler), a spectacularly average 15-year-old boy with a rich fantasy life and the people in his world.
Lindhome will play Kimberly, Duncan’s ]awkward, emotional, 12-year-old sister. She can hold grudges forever while waiting patiently for revenge. She sometimes says hurtful things but doesn’t get why people are upset because, “What? I’m just being honest.” All emotions all the time, nobody’s problems are bigger than hers. Kimberly fears that she is the forgotten middle child, and she’s not wrong.

Paul Naschy was arguably Spain's finest maker of horror movies, many of which were little seen.
It's been 10 years since the death of Paul Naschy, Spain's finest purveyor of horror, and it still seems somehow unreal and unfair. He was 75 years old and boasted an acting career that lasted from 1960 to only months before he died, with well over a hundred credits (often lead roles) to his name, yet Naschy still had so much to give. Despite suffering long-term depression and undergoing major heart surgery, his spirit, enthusiasm and unpretentious adoration of genre cinema made him feel irrepressible. I could well imagine his barrel-chested form wrestling the Grim Reaper into submission and stealing his gown as a prop for use in a later film but no, Naschy has gone...
Although in 2001 he was awarded the Gold Medal For Fine Arts (a Spanish equivalent of a knighthood), he...
