During the Daytona 500 at the start of the film, the main grandstand is empty in some shots.
During the final race in Charlotte, there are scenes from multiple races and at least two different divisions of race cars. The #12 Busch car of Tommy Ellis is clearly visible on the starting grid for the race. It wouldn't have been in the field of a Winston Cup race. There are several wreck scenes that featured Busch cars also.
Right after the Talladega race, they race at Michigan, but yet they pass the wall that says "Winston 500", which was the name of the race at Talladega.
Numerous errors with the positioning of cars during races.
During the last race, when Stroker is viewed from the front he is wearing a black racing suit and a black helmet with a red stripe. When the camera is looking over his shoulder from behind, he is wearing a red helmet and racing suit.
After the jack breaks during the final pit stop, Arnold (Bubba Smith) jumps over the wall to substitute for the broken jack. This would result in a penalty for too many men over the wall.
In the group of cars that routinely raced around Stroker Ace in every race was a #77, a white 1977 Monte Carlo. The movie supposedly takes place in the early 80s after NASCAR downsized the cars and this Montel Carlo would not have been legal to race in the series anymore.
The NASCAR season has never ended at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
While extras fill the lower grandstand, the infield is almost entirely vacant during the upside-down finish at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Empty stands are also obvious during the subsequent winners circle scenes.
There are two #77 cars in the Charlotte race: a red/black car that flips over several times, then a white car that Stroker passes after the restart.
During the start of the climactic 'final race of the season' the race cars are shown rolling onto the track from their pit road lineup positions. As they roll away, we see a closeup of a wheel and tire; the lettering on the tire (the word "Goodyear", etc.) is a reversed/mirror image.
When Stroker enters the race track driving a car with only three wheels, using Lugs as a counterbalance, one shot reveals a block attached underneath the car that is actually keeping the car up on three wheels.
When on the way to the first personal appearance they are in a convertible and none of their hair moves as it would be if they were actually driving/riding in a convertible.
While at Daytona in the beginning of the movie, the owner is in the suite in the stands. Over his shoulder, the wall of the track clearly reads Talladega.
The on-track scenes during the final race, ostensibly set at Charlotte Motor Speedway, are clearly shot at Atlanta International Raceway, as evidenced by the red-checkered wall and a glimpse of the Atlanta logo.
