DeVito shared that he and Schwarzenegger want to work together again, but this new project would be separate from “Twins,” the 1988 comedy where the two portrayed fraternal twin brothers separated at birth.

While speaking with GQ, Danny DeVito was asked if there was anything in his career he wanted to revisit. Surprisingly, DeVito mentioned that he’s been looking at reuniting with Billy Crystal for a Throw Momma From the Train sequel titled, you guessed it, Throw Papa From the Train. “Billy [Crystal] and I want to work together again,” DeVito said. “We were looking at possibly doing Throw Papa From the Train.” Crystal’s representative confirmed the news to Entertainment Weekly. “It’s true,” the rep said. “They’re still working on it.“

In a new interview with GQ, DeVito claimed that Schwarzenegger’s priorities changed when he entered politics.

“Arnold [Schwarzenegger] and I want to work together. We missed Twins 2, because he became governor — which, he should have done Twins 2 instead of becoming governor,” DeVito joked. “Now we have a little thing going, a little project that we’ve been chatting about.”

The plans have nothing to do with Twins. “No, it’s just two friends, two guys, because we have a good time together,” DeVito said. “We complement each other in a lot of ways. I am way stronger than he is.”

In this weird world of spinoffs and sequels, you can never say never to the possibility of a legacy sequel, no matter how unlikely it seems. Some of them are ill-advised, but sometimes we get the chance to return to some great creative ground that just didn't get the chance for a sequel during its era for whatever reason. Movies from the 1980s and 1990s that have found cult status have the potential to find an even bigger audience with a legacy sequel, and as long as the original stars are interested, it can happen! That seems to be the case for "Throw Momma From the Train," the 1987 dark comedy directed by Danny DeVito and starring DeVito and Billy Crystal. The movie follows an author named Larry (Crystal) and one of his writing students, Owen (DeVito), after they become entangled in a murder plot directly inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's "Strangers on a Train.

Stu Silver, the screenplay writer for the 1987 comedy Throw Momma From The Train, died July 18 in Rochester, NY from complications of prostate cancer. He was 76, his son said.

Born in Los Angeles in 1947, he moved with his adopted family to Rochester at a young age. He later went to New York City to pursue an acting career in theater, with his most notable credit “Dance With Me” on Broadway.

While acting, he was also writing, and that led to a gig with the sitcom “Soap” starting in 1978 and running through 1981.

“Throw Momma From The Train” was inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s “Strangers on a Train,” in which two people try to solve each other’s problems by murdering a target for each other.

The film was Danny DeVito’s directorial debut, It was a box office success, and was nominated for several acting awards.

February ushers in a new slate of movies and TV shows making their way to HBO and HBO Max, from a slew of James Bond movies to the recently released Olivia Colman-led “Empire of Light” to, yes, the Puppy Bowl.

Can you imagine anything more delightful than Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin co-starring in a movie with Richard Roundtree and Malcolm McDowell … in 1972? That was the year Fonda won an Oscar for “Klute” and daffy “Laugh-In” star Tomlin released her first comedy album. The two men were riding high with “Shaft” and “A Clockwork Orange,” respectively. Just think what an ensemble film that played to each of their strengths might have yielded 50 years ago.

That’s wishful thinking, of course. You can’t go back, and you can’t do things over, but it’s never too late to move on. At least, that’s the message writer-director Paul Weitz is peddling in “Moving On,” a sassy feature-length sitcom with a #MeToo twist in which two estranged friends reunite to settle a decades-old score.

Weitz started his career with “American Pie” — which introduced the word “Milf” to the English language...

Through 15 seasons, "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" has proven time and again that its cast and writers are willing to go just about anywhere for a laugh. Every member of the main cast -- Rob McElhenney (Mac), Charlie Day (Charlie), Glenn Howerton (Dennis), Kaitlin Olson (Sweet Dee) and Danny DeVito (Frank) -- has been shorn of their dignity multiple times. The sheer fearlessness of "Always Sunny" keeps viewers coming back, and leaves the show open to disgusting new opportunities.

It's this sense that there isn't a line the show is willing to cross that allowed the other cast members to pull a rather elaborate prank on DeVito. The veteran actor appears to be having the time of his life as part of this lunatic ensemble, and has hurtled himself into many an unflattering situation. But every man has his limits, and his collaborators found his red line when they presented him with a fake script.

Yellowstone star and Academy Award-winning filmmaker Kevin Costner paid emotional tribute to his longtime collaborator, production designer Ida Random as she received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 26th annual Art Directors Guild Awards tonight. And his tribute included the revelation that he might not have an an acting career without her intervention.

From the stage at the Intercontinental Los Angeles Downtown, an admittedly nervous Costner – who’s worked with Random on his directorial efforts including The Postman – recounted the critical impact she had when he was an extra on the 1981 film Frances, on which Random served as art director.

Billy Crystal, whose multi-faceted career covers movies, TV, Broadway, books, stand- up comedy, directing, producting and writing in all mediums — not to mention hosting the Oscars nine times — will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 27th annual Critics Choice Awards on March 13 at the Fairmont Century Plaza Hotel.

It will be broadcast live at 7 p.m. Et on TBS and The CW and tape-delayed in the West.

Crystal, a Tony and Emmy winner is currently prepping his Broadway return in his first musical comedy, an adaptation of his 1992 film Mr. Saturday Night which is set to open on April 27.

He joins Lauren Bacall, Kevin Costner, Clint Eastwood, Eddie Murphy, Robert Wise as the only past Life Achievement honorees in the organization’s 27 year history. As previously announced, Halle Berry will receive the sixth annual SeeHer Award during the ceremony.

Exclusive: Rob Reiner, the Oscar-nominated and Emmy-winning director, producer, writer and actor, is now a client of ICM Partners.

As a filmmaker, he’s behind such pics as Misery –which launched Kathy Bates as tour de force actress, landing an Oscar off her first nomination–and other blockbusters including When Harry Met Sally, The Princess Bride, Stand By Me and A Few Good Men (which notched four Oscar noms including Reiner with a Best Picture nom).

Reiner’s cult-classic mockumentary This Is Spinal Tap recently celebrated its 35th anniversary at the Tribeca Film Festival.

In total, Reiner won two Emmys for his role on Norman Lear’s All in the Family and is a five-time nominee. His career includes nine Golden Globe and three DGA Award noms.

After its 1989 release, “When Harry Met Sally …” set the bar for all future romantic comedies. It turns 30 this year and yet the film still feels so relevant. But that’s the hallmark of a classic film.

Director Rob Reiner can’t quite believe it. “It’s ridiculous, isn’t it? ‘Spinal Tap’ is turning 35,” he says, referring to another classic he directed. “‘Harry Met Sally’ is 30. All it means is that I’m old. That’s all it means.”

His home state of New Jersey has just proclaimed November 17 ‘Danny DeVito Day’, in recognition of his services to the big screen.

Currently dominating the global box office is the new adaptation of Stephen King’s novel, It. The book has provided the source material already for one production that scared the lights out of a generation – who can forget Tim Curry’s take on Pennywise the clown? – and the new film has been keen to repeat the trick. With no shortage of success, as it happens. Clowns are already reporting a decline in business.

Strangers on a Train, written by Patricia Highsmith, has a brilliantly simple premise. Two total strangers -- Guy, a famous tennis player, and Bruno, the son of a wealthy businessman -- exchange grievances on a train, where one of them proposes that the solution to both of their problems lies in murder. Bruno will kill Guy's wife if Guy agrees to kill Bruno's old man. Since they're total strangers with no conceivable motives connecting them to the victims, the police can never pin the crime on them, making it a perfect plan. Until nothing goes to plan, that is. Trains in cinema have always made for an excitable source within the realm of the comedy, drama, mystery or suspense pertaining to the plot of a particular film. The setting for the featured trains as the driving force of entertainment serves as the heart and soul of the action for the most part.

In some cases using trains as a last minute symbolic theme for a film can generate great impact that thrives and questions the motives and urgency of the characters and storyline (i.e. the climax scene in The Defiant Ones where the salt-and-pepper escaped convicts Tony Curtis and Sidney Poitier try and make a desperate dash for permanent freedom on a speeding train en route to permanent freedom). Perhaps a train could also add an extra element of action-packed excitement in a film’s conclusive ending such as the uncontrollable commuter train in Speed?

For some of the oldsters out there they may recall the 1973 Gamble & Huff-produced R&B hit single “I’ll Always Love My Mama” by the musical group The Intruders. This musical anthem was certainly a lyrical tribute to caring mothers and how their sacrifices shaped our childhood and adulthood. This finger-snapping song definitely captured the spirit of motherly guidance.

Naturally film has had its share of depicting motherhood over the decades. In fact, mothers of all types are presented before our eyes in packages of being nurturing, notorious, nutty, naive and nonsensical. However, there is something so special about the mother-son relationship that rivals the father-daughter dynamic. We have our share of proud Mama’s boys out there roaming about in society.

The 2014 Academy Awards are right around the corner, and we couldn't help but notice that there's not one, but two women nominated for playing our favorite kind of Oscar–nominated role: the brash, tough-talking older matriarch, a role we affectionately call "the Mema," after Michael "The Angry Ginger" Kittrell's grandmother from Reelz's reality series Hollywood Hillbillies. Of course, a "Mema" isn't nominated every year, but with Jane Squibb from Nebraska and Meryl Streep from August: Osage County both being nominated in a "Mema" role, we thought we'd share some of our favorites "Mema" nominations in advance of this weekend's telecast.
